Park Hotel Shanghai

The hotel is located right in the city center, which makes getting around incredibly convenient. We ate all our meals at the hotel, and we really enjoyed everything we tried: the Peking duck, cold sliced soy sauce duck, shepherd's purse wontons, zhajiangmian (fried sauce noodles), stir-fried lettuce with oyster sauce, plain stir-fried choy sum, and seafood noodles. Downstairs, the Park Hotel Bakery always has a long line, and their butterfly pastries (hudiesu) are indeed delicious. The only thing I didn't like was the hot water in the bathroom; it took a full five minutes to heat up. After all, the hotel is a bit old now.

The hotel concierge, Wang Li, provided excellent service. He helped me mail a package and even gave me a box of butterfly pastries. I had a very pleasant stay. The breakfast was good and the room was very comfortable.

Booked two rooms at this hotel when dropping my child off at school. Pros: Excellent location. You can take Metro Line 2 directly from the high-speed rail station and the hotel is right across from the subway exit, making it super convenient. Restaurants and shopping malls are within walking distance, and the Fengze Restaurant inside the hotel is also quite good.

This hotel has immense historical value, transporting you back to 1930s Old Shanghai. It was the perfect place to bring my mother to revisit the golden age of Shanghai cinema, imagining the movie stars and high-ranking officials, and the vibrant nightlife of the old Shanghai nightclubs. We also brought our Gen Z children to explore the rich cultural arts and historical development of Old Shanghai.

My parents, being a bit older, felt nostalgic and wanted to stay at the old Shanghai International Hotel for their birthday. Luckily, the hotel's location is excellent, and it's clean and tidy. The suite was spacious enough, and with Nanjing Road right outside the window, the view was lovely. Both my parents were quite pleased, and we'd consider staying here again if we have the chance.

Excellent location: The hotel is right across from the subway station, a 30-minute ride to Hongqiao Airport, less than 10 minutes to Shanghai Grand Theatre, and less than 5 minutes to Shanghai History Museum. Butterfly Pastries: The butterfly pastries at the Park Hotel are incredibly famous, with long queues day and night. A member of our tour group waited two hours to buy some. I tried them myself, and they were indeed very flaky and crispy~ Service: The service from the bellboys, concierge, restaurant, and housekeeping was all great. The housekeeping auntie on the 9th floor was very warm and friendly, greeting guests and thoughtfully replenishing tissues, drinking water, and disposable slippers. The hotel itself has a rich history, dating back to 1934, attracting many foreign tourists and older guests from Hong Kong, Macau, and mainland China. "Nostalgia" is definitely a theme here. Elevator: The elevators are a bit old, and are shared by both the restaurant and guest rooms. On my first day, I noticed a strong smell of baijiu (Chinese liquor) in the elevator.

The service was excellent! They even upgraded my room, and the hotel is very close to the subway station, making it a fantastic location.

This landmark hotel, steeped in history, boasts a prime location on People's Square, making it incredibly convenient for transportation and shopping. The Bund is also within walking distance. However, both the hotel's public areas and room facilities are a bit dated.

I stayed here for four nights and five days, and the front desk arranged a king-size room for me on the 12th floor. The room was well-equipped and airy, and I particularly liked that it had two windows that could open. It was clean and hygienic, and the cleaning staff were incredibly friendly and provided excellent, courteous service. I especially enjoyed the Western restaurant in the lobby and the historical museum on the first floor. Every day, whenever I had a moment, I'd go down to explore, sit, and listen to the two singers perform – it was incredibly relaxing. The Yunlou restaurant on the 14th floor was also quite interesting, with wooden floors dating back to 1992. The breakfast selection was decent, and I could always find something I liked. Paying over 900 for a night's stay to experience one of Hudec's classic works was definitely worth it!
