voco SHANGHAI HONGQIAO HUB by IHG

Whenever I'm in Shanghai for a business trip, I make sure to stay at voco. Dina's service was super efficient, really top-notch! The swimming pool is fantastic; the morning light offers a great view, and the water quality is excellent. This time, I got upgraded to a suite, which was absolutely perfect. I'll definitely be back!

It was sweltering! The room was unbelievably hot. I never thought I'd be this hot in a hotel during winter, so much so that I couldn't sleep all night. The air conditioning couldn't be adjusted. I called the front desk in the middle of the night, and they brought me a fan, which was quite confusing. I didn't get any sleep, so I decisively switched hotels the next day.

The breakfast spread offered a wide variety of delicious options, leaving me feeling truly happy and satisfied. The king-sized bed was also super comfortable. I arrived quite late on Qixi Festival, and a big thank you goes to the kind staff member on duty who upgraded my room; the Executive Room experience was truly excellent.

This hotel is quite good. My friend was staying here for a business trip in Shanghai, so I booked a room as well to catch up with a friend I hadn't seen in years. It seems to be a rebranded property undergoing gradual renovation. The service is impressive; it's rare to find a mid-range hotel with a doorman these days. Check-in was very efficient, and they even upgraded my room. The room itself was quite spacious. The only minor issue was that the smart toilet seat's bidet function sprayed cold water instead of warm. The hotel's 30-meter pool is quite large. Its deep end reaches over 1.7 meters, which is the deepest I've ever encountered in a hotel pool – I'd suggest making it a bit shallower. While the hotel breakfast was decent, it was nothing special. However, the executive lounge offered a good spread of 2 meat and 2 vegetable dishes. The lounge manager even offered cocktail-making, which was a really nice touch, and the drinks were delicious. Finally, a big thank you to Molin at the front desk. I forgot my glasses at breakfast, and he helped me retrieve them.

The facilities are great – quite new and well-equipped. The place was spotless. Its location is fantastic, very close to the airport, and there's a subway station just a few minutes' walk away. Service was excellent; they even offered complimentary drinks from the front desk. I booked this hotel for a one-day layover in Shanghai, and it was super convenient to get to the city center by subway. Overall, it's great and quite affordable, offering excellent value for money.

This hotel recently joined IHG, but it's not a new property; it previously operated under Greenland Group's own brand. It's located in western Shanghai, within Jiading District but very close to the Hongqiao area, not far from Hongqiao Airport and Hongqiao Railway Station. There's a Wanda Plaza nearby. Public transport is convenient: take Metro Line 13 to Jinshajiang Road Station, which also offers direct connections to Hanzhong Road (near Shanghai Railway Station), the Natural History Museum, and Nanjing West Road/Wujiang Road. So, despite its seemingly peripheral location, getting around is surprisingly easy. This VOCO features an executive lounge, and both the afternoon tea and happy hour were quite good, as was the service. The rooms are quite spacious with ample storage, better than other VOCO hotels I've experienced. Overall, excellent value for money. The only minor issue was with the facilities: the shower in my room had a leak, causing water to seep into the adjacent toilet area after showering, which I had to wipe up with a hand towel (as shown in the last picture).
