Elegance Life Hotel (Shanghai Jiangsu Road Metro Station)

Buyer Beware! My experience at this hotel was far from ideal, and I want to warn others: 1. **Price Discrepancy:** I booked a 'Special Offer King Room' for 408 CNY on Trip.com, only to find out the hotel offers the same room directly for 359 CNY. A word to the wise: always call the hotel first to check their direct prices! 2. **Window Woes:** The 'Special Offer King Room' has NO window. It's essentially a wall with a curtain, a blatant attempt to deceive. There's absolutely no natural light, making the room incredibly oppressive during the day. Trip.com didn't clearly state 'no window,' only 'sealed window,' which is misleading. 3. **Cramped Space:** The room is tiny, so small you can barely turn around. If there are two of you, you'll constantly be bumping into each other. There's no space for luggage either. The gap between the bed and the TV cabinet is barely a body's width. To get to the bedside table on the right, you have to climb over the bed because the corner of the bed is jammed against the wall, blocking access. 4. **Outdated Decor:** The decor looks like it's from 10-20 years ago. The appliances and furniture are all run-down. Being on the first floor, the room was also very damp, and the soundproofing was terrible. 5. **Cleanliness Concerns:** The room's hygiene was questionable. The bedding wasn't clean, and the bathroom was even worse. 6. **Questionable Reviews:** When checking out, the staff offered a small gift in exchange for a good review. So, take all those positive reviews you see with a grain of salt and judge for yourselves.

The room was spacious and bright, with soft and comfortable bedding. The cleanliness was impeccable, which made our stay very reassuring. I especially want to commend the service; everyone from the front desk to the housekeeping staff was warm and courteous, and their response time was incredibly fast. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious, with some authentic local specialties. Overall, the value for money is outstanding, and this stay completely exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend!
