We were looking for a hotel nearby because we were going to visit Shanghai Academy of Agricultural Sciences. The hotel is a 5-star hotel with good facilities, and it should be one of the few in Fengxian District. The lobby is large and the morning is OK.
Hotel near Shanghai Jiaotong University/Shanghai Minhang Economic & Technological,Shanghai
BBenbencanshu2025.06.02
The room was clean and tidy. The hotel's location is extremely convenient, very close to the subway station. I was traveling with my child to Jiaotong University, and a taxi ride only took seven minutes.
Late-Night Noodles: After a fun day out with my child on Nanjing East Road, we returned to the hotel past 10 PM. We could still get noodles, which saved us from having to buy a late-night snack. The staff were enthusiastic and kind. The most entertaining part was the hotel robot, Ququ (蛐蛐), standing behind the staff. It had such a stubborn personality! The robot encountered a problem and refused to leave the elevator. A staff member told it to exit the elevator on its own, but it retorted, 'I'm working, don't disturb me!' There was no other option but to turn it off and carry it out of the elevator. 😂😂😂
As a multi-generational family traveling with seniors and children, we chose the Sheraton Fengxian Baohua, hoping for a comfortable holiday. The hotel's hardware truly stood out – the spacious and grand public areas, generous room layouts, and excellent location (adjacent to Qingxi Ancient Town and Shanghai Fish) all laid a solid foundation for our trip. However, the 'soft services' during this stay were a major disappointment, starting strong but quickly deteriorating. The management shortcomings exposed during the peak holiday season were particularly regrettable.
**I. Positive Highlights: Robust Hardware, Heartfelt Frontline Service**
1. **Excellent Hardware Facilities:**
The hotel's overall decor is modern and elegant. The high-ceiling lobby design feels open and bright, guest rooms are spacious with good soundproofing, and the mattresses offer medium firmness, making them suitable for elderly guests. Its prime location is a significant advantage, with Qingxi Ancient Town within walking distance and attractions like Shanghai Fish and Fengxian Museum all within a 15-minute drive.
2. **Heartwarming Support from Frontline Staff:**
Despite frequent issues at the management level, our housekeeper, Auntie Duan Xiubi, was an absolute lifesaver. When we faced the predicament of no spare duvets (the front desk claimed, ”all spare bedding was used up”), she proactively intervened. She not only quickly found pillows and personally put on clean duvet covers but also thoughtfully told us, ”It's busy during the holidays, no need to rush, make sure you get some rest first,” and even wished us to ”have fun.” Her enthusiasm, resourcefulness, and sense of responsibility injected warmth into the stark management shortcomings, becoming the sole 'service highlight' of our stay.
**II. Negative Experience: Disorganized Management, Slow Service Response**
1. **Chaotic Check-in Process, Excessive Communication Burden:**
Our group arrived at 11:30 AM to discuss check-in time, clearly stating that ”the whole family would go out for lunch and return around 1:00 PM to check in.” However, upon our punctual return at 1:00 PM, only one of our three booked rooms was ready. Considering the holiday crowd, we proactively suggested, ”we'll gather in one room to rest first,” but this wait stretched to 2.5 hours. It wasn't until 3:30 PM, after multiple calls, that the remaining room cards were delivered by a robot, with no human providing any updates on the progress. The elderly and children grew tired from waiting in the cramped room, and the lobby sofa area was also full, offering no alternative resting spot. The experience was extremely poor.
2. **Basic Services Missing, Superficial Emergency Handling:**
Upon checking in, we found no spare duvets in the room. When we called the front desk, the response was, ”There are too many guests during the May Day holiday, all spare bedding has been used up.” Such a shortage of basic guest supplies indicates a serious miscalculation of holiday occupancy by the hotel. It was only after our persistence that Auntie Duan managed to arrange for a blanket (not standard bedding), while the front desk never proactively followed up or apologized.
3. **Passive Management, Relying on Frontline Staff to ”Firefight”:**
From check-in delays to supply shortages, the core problem stemmed from management's disorganized coordination: a lack of oversight on cleaning progress, insufficient guest supply reserves, and no emergency mechanisms in place. When faced with guest requests, the front desk merely robotically repeated ”please wait” and offered no solutions (such as prioritizing access to a lounge area or providing complimentary drinks), creating a stark contrast with the proactive efforts of the frontline staff.
**III. Summary and Recommendations**
If rated comprehensively as ”5/5 for hardware, 3/5 for service,” the hotel's solid foundation in hardware is certainly commendable. However, the service details proved to be a significant weakness, especially during peak occupancy, where management flaws directly exacerbated guest inconveniences, making it extremely unfriendly for multi-generational families with elderly and children.
**Suggested Improvements:**
1. During holidays, optimize cleaning schedules in advance and display real-time room readiness status to minimize guests' unproductive waiting time.
2. Stock sufficient basic guest supplies (e.g., duvets, cribs) to prevent passive situations where supplies run out.
3. Management needs to proactively take responsibility for coordination, rather than leaving frontline staff to ”put out fires” alone. Basic compensation solutions (such as late check-out or dining discounts) could be offered to alleviate guest frustration.
Finally, a special thank you to Auntie Duan Xiubi. Her presence made us believe that if the hotel truly prioritizes supporting and training its frontline staff, the service experience would undoubtedly see a qualitative improvement. We hope management will listen to the voices from the ground and not allow heartwarming individual efforts to be undermined by disorganized management.

Facilities: Very good. The hotel room I have stayed in so far is relatively good. The first impression is very good. It is worth recommending to family and friends. Hygiene: Very clean, really clean. After getting up in the morning, I pressed the cleaning button and the waiter came to clean immediately. I asked what needed to be cleaned. It was really good. Environment: The geographical environment is good. There is a Longhu Tianjie nearby where you can go shopping. The lobby is also very bright. Service: The service attitude is very good. Xiao Tao is very patient and the service is very good. I met a few very considerate staff. I will come again next time if I have the chance.
Last night, I went to Campanile Hotel, which is a mid-to-high-end brand under Jinjiang. It is located on Baituan Road, with convenient transportation. As soon as you enter the door, you will experience the French style. The service of the front desk lady is very enthusiastic. She actively asks guests what they need and upgrades their rooms. It can be said that the service is very meticulous and the check-in is very fast. The overall decoration style of the room is this French romantic and simple style, clean and tidy. The room is very large, spacious and bright, clean and tidy, spotless, and the bathroom is separated into dry and wet areas. The toiletries are also the French Jiaomu brand Earth series, which is very high-end. The room has a high-definition TV and a high-speed wifi signal. You don’t have to worry about the poor mobile phone signal at all. Indonesian Java coffee and Belgian caramel biscuits are also prepared, which is very considerate. Free tea bags and mineral water, if not enough, call the front desk and use the machine to send them to you, which is very high-end. The French buffet breakfast is rich and varied, with salads, bread, ham, snacks, etc., and there are many styles. This is worthy of being a brand under Jinjiang, bringing you the fun of French romance and fashion.
I recommend this hotel in Fengxian. Friends who drive around can experience it.
The hotel is designed in an Art Deco Shanghai style, modern and smart👍. The design of the public areas and guest rooms is full of decorative details, and the public areas are equipped with aromatherapy and background sound. The lobby has an open layout, with multiple negotiation areas surrounding the front desk and bar, achieving an interactive mode of modern business travel👍.
The guest room combines the elements of neo-Chinese style and Shanghai style of Art Deco, equipped with smart panels and voice control, showing the characteristics of modern simplicity, stability and texture, providing a warm and smart living experience👍
The breakfast buffet is very good! Exceeding the standards of many five-star hotels~The restaurant is very design-oriented👍! Modern, simple and new Chinese design style enhances the style and quality of the space 👍 Refreshing ~ The dishes are rich, the ingredients are fresh, and the coffee is Peet's ~
The hotel also has a gym and laundry room, free parking, and the waiters have good looks and temperament, and the service is enthusiastic.
It is a leisure treasure in Shanghai. The decoration is very tuned, the service is very meticulous and the attitude is super good. There is a small yard on the first floor that is really in love. There are also many packages suitable for vacation around. Super recommended, suitable for parents and children to travel, usually when busy work weekends can go there to empty.
We had a great experience staying at Ship hotel for a long weekend. The kids were so delighted with the boat and nautical theme of the hotel, a big playground, and a nice clean pool. The service was kind and thoughtful, decorating our room and giving us a cake for my daughter’s birthday and providing kids’ amenities. The staff are friendly. It’s a paradise for kids. The cost was not high, but our kids preferred this hotel to many others.
The room is a little old but still in good condition and also has nice touches like a ships’ window, ocean shore carpet, and we had a very nice view. Room was clean and bed was comfortable and there was a pillow menu. Good water pressure in the bathroom and nice bathtub.
The hotel is also next door to a ecological park which has boat rides, and about a 10 minute drive to paopao park which is a huge, beautiful recreational area with lakes, lots of grass for picnics, bike paths, gardens and a kids play area. We could’ve easily spent 2-3 days just in paopao park alone.
We arrived on Friday night and Saturday morning was quiet at breakfast with few people.
The room is very spacious, and there's a robot in the lobby that can deliver food. The front desk service was excellent; check-in was quick, and they even upgraded my room. The breakfast was also good. Overall, I'm very satisfied; it's great value for money at this price point. Thumbs up!
The room is clean and tidy with large space and complete facilities. The bathroom is equipped with disposable toilet seats and disinfectant wipes. The breakfast is rich in variety, the service is warm, the transportation is convenient, there is free parking, the hotel environment is good, the air by the lake is fresh, and a free upgrade experience is given. The overall cost-effectiveness is high, and there are robots delivering meals. I will come again next time.

Shanghai, or “Hu” as the locals call it, is perched right at the mouth of the Yangtze River. Sure, it’s famous for its fast-paced business vibe and skyline, but honestly, there’s so much more to discover here beyond the glitz and glass towers.

Getting to and Around Shanghai
Here are two airports in Shanghai. Pudong Airport(PVG) is about 45 kilometers from downtown and handles most international flights. On the other hand, Shanghai Hongqiaoairport is just 15 kilometers from the city center and mostly deals with domestic flights.
Consider staying at one of these hotels near the PVG airports with shuttle services.
Rooftop pool with city views → EDITION Shanghai (Price from US$318)
Final Shanghai Hotels Booking Tips
Book early (3–6 months ahead) for peak times like National Day (Oct 1-7), Labor Day holiday (May 1-5), or major China holidays.
Watch Out for Trade Fairs & Events: Shanghai hosts large exhibitions (e.g., China International Import Expo in November, Auto Shanghai in April), which cause price surges and low availability.
Opt for well-connected but less touristy areas like Jing’an, Hongqiao, or Xujiahui—close to Metro Lines 1/2/10—instead of pricier hubs (The Bund, Nanjing Road, Lujiazui).

GGuest UserWhen I came to Haichang, I chose this hotel. It exceeded my expectations. The room was clean, the service was thoughtful, the breakfast was OK, and the price/performance ratio was very high. I will choose this hotel again when I come to Shanghai next time.
AAnonymous UserTiger Shark E-sports Hotel really understands e-sports lovers! The computer configuration is directly full, the graphics card runs smoothly, and the group battle is not stuck at all. The keyboard and mouse feel great, as if they have their own buff. The room is clean and tidy, there is no smell, the sound insulation effect is also very good, playing games late at night is not afraid to disturb others.
MM4381****Relatively speaking, the hotel is very clean and tidy, and the service is also very enthusiastic. The only problem is that the pillows are too low. There are only 2 low pillows. It would be better if 2 high pillows could be added. I didn't sleep well after staying for two nights. 😂
__zx403393000088****Wufang Village is a relatively high-end B&B with a sense of design. The facilities are modern and high-quality, the bedding is comfortable, and the teahouse in front of the window is very comfortable to enjoy the scenery and drink tea. The service staff were friendly and friendly, and the breakfast was satisfactory. I am willing to invite friends to visit again.
MMantoupaozaixifanliThe hotel room facilities are good, with everything that should be there. The smoking area outside is also very beautiful. The breakfast in the morning is very good, it is self-service, and there are freshly made noodles to eat. If you are thirsty, you can go downstairs at any time to have some drinks and fruits, which are all included in the hotel package. Why the deduction? Like many reviews wrote, the water in the pool here is really too hot. It is the hottest of all the hot springs in Shanghai that I have been to. It feels too hot. I saw that several children could hardly soak in the water for a while. I don’t know why so many people complained. I saw that the management was still saying in the comments that it met the hot spring temperature requirements. What they said is that your water is too hot, and they are giving you suggestions. Everyone in the hot spring said that the water was hot, not that you violated any regulations... It takes talent to reply like this
YYujingerThe price/performance ratio in Fengxian is really high. The restaurant on the first floor is super delicious, and the lemon beef is going to taste it. This hotel, it is best to be north, and the south is a bit noisy by the road. Overall cost-effective
GGuest UserThe room is simple, comprehensive, and everything is complete. The hotel cannot be compared with the hotel, but the price is affordable. It is still possible.
The brother at the front desk was very enthusiastic and helped me with the suitcase. The room was very clean and really clean! Even the bathroom was cleaned, and there was no smell in the room, and it was fragrant. Except that the quilt and pillow are a bit old (but very clean), there is no problem, stayed for four days! really good! ! Others come to clean every day, which many hotels can't do.
