Perfect location for someone looking at a place which is a little bit away from all the attractions but not too further away to commute.
I believe the area is a little bit quiet, there is a local park directly opposite the hotel. Metro line 9&13 are just a few minutes away. LuOne mall is very close by. There are various kinds of local restaurants and food just around the corner. Transferring to airport is close as well, you can get a DiDi/metro to Longyan station and then Maglev train to Pudong airport.
I would definitely come back to this place if i ever return to Shanghai. The room is clean, basic amenities are great too. The hotel surpassed my expectations for the price it offers.
Now I understand why it's called 'The Philosopher's' – it has everything you need for a stay, stripping away the non-essentials and focusing on practicality. The room was clean and tidy, with complete facilities. The young customer service staff were friendly and helpful. They even offer services like parcel collection and luggage storage, which are very traveler-friendly. Although the room was small, it was very comfortable. I just didn't expect it to be Christmas Eve today, and since I didn't extend my stay earlier, I can't stay an extra night. The elevator goes directly to B2, where the subway is, making it super convenient to get anywhere. Definitely recommended.
This hotel boasts an excellent location, situated in the heart of Huangpu District and close to three major hospitals. Public transport, with easy access to subway and bus lines, makes getting around very convenient. It's reasonably priced and offers great value for money, which is why it attracts many repeat customers. With a diverse selection of room types, it can accommodate various guests. Overall, it's quite decent, primarily because of its affordable rates.

This hotel is great, we come here often. My husband has medical appointments nearby, and their rooms are very spacious. The location is excellent, and the front desk staff are very helpful; they promptly meet any requests. We can check out and also store our luggage. Laundry detergent is available on the 1st floor.
This hotel experience was fantastic! The location is great, making travel super convenient. The room was clean, tidy, and cozy, with all the necessary facilities. The staff were warm and thoughtful, which was really heartwarming. The breakfast was rich and delicious. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I visit!
Facilities: Very comprehensive, they even have luggage carts and strollers, which was so helpful for us traveling with a lot of luggage and a child.
Hygiene: Very clean, especially the hangers in the room were spotless, perfect for someone like me who pays attention to details.
Environment: They also have fire safety equipment, which really added a sense of security for someone concerned about safety. It’s also very close to the Grand Hyatt, which is great.
Service: Extremely thoughtful. They even heated things for us. The young lady in the small room was fantastic.
Positive: very friendly staff, even if they doesn’t speak English well, they are very willing to accommodate every request; good breakfast but mainly the choice is Chinese style; clean room.
Negative: location not very convenient, must to book a taxi to get around, on rainy days reaching the metro station isn’t pleasant; there isn’t enough space in the room for luggage; room positioned with the main road view is noisy for passing cars in the night.
The hotel is located near Nanpu Bridge. While there aren't many restaurants directly next door, Greenland Bund Center is only a 7-8 minute walk away, offering options like McDonald's, Luckin Coffee, and other eateries, so dining is still convenient. A small convenience store is also just a 3-minute walk from the hotel, perfect for daily necessities. The overall location is great for getting around, and it's very easy to hail a taxi.
The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. They were happy to help us with an early check-in and late check-out. Since we were using foreign phone numbers, the staff even assisted us with ordering takeout, which was a very thoughtful and considerate service. The front desk area also offers complimentary drinks and small snacks for guests, and we even received a small gift upon check-out, which was a lovely touch and made us feel very welcome.
The hotel's breakfast was excellent, with delicious food and a wide variety of choices. The only minor downside was the short breakfast window, only two hours, and limited seating, so there could be a bit of a wait during peak times. Additionally, the hotel offers a package receiving service, which is very convenient for travelers who shop online.
The only slight drawback is that the hotel shares a building with an office complex, meaning you share elevators with office workers, which slightly detracted from the sense of security.

This hotel was an absolute treat for my recent business trip! 🚗 Its location is superb, just a few minutes' walk from the business district, and there's a convenient transport hub right outside, making commuting a breeze. The front desk staff were incredibly efficient; check-in took less than 5 minutes, and their English was perfectly fluent, which is a huge plus for international business travelers like myself. The desk and chair in the room were ergonomically designed, and the high-speed WiFi was stable and fast, perfect for online meetings. Hygiene was impeccable – the bedding was changed for every new guest, and the bathroom amenities were all premium brands. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of both Western and Asian options, great for a quick energy boost before starting the day. This will definitely be my top choice for future business trips to this city!
The room's location is super convenient, just a few minutes' walk to the subway, making it easy to get anywhere. At this price, it's really great value for money! My biggest worry was hassle, especially since we had two large suitcases, but thankfully, the check-in process was very smooth. The service was also excellent; seeing our luggage, they proactively gave us a more spacious room. The interior features smart home devices, and the ventilation is good. The air conditioning keeps the room nice and warm. Although the hotel is on a main street, it's very quiet, and we slept wonderfully at night. Thank you to the front desk lady, we'll definitely come back next time!

MM764032****The location of the guesthouse is really convenient, not far from the subway station, just a few minutes' walk away. There's also a food street nearby, so I could easily grab a bite to eat after a stroll in the evening, haha. All the room facilities worked perfectly; the air conditioning heated up quickly, the water heater had plenty of hot water, and the bed was comfortable. The cleanliness was excellent; the bathroom had no unpleasant odors, so I felt safe staying there. The owner was very nice; they sent detailed directions in advance, responded quickly to any questions, and even recommended some good restaurants nearby. Overall, a great experience, highly recommended!
GGuest UserThe rooms have everything you need. Heated seats, big tv, strong water pressure and even a raised platform in the shower. I wouldn’t call this a luxurious hotel by any means but it definitely delivers on all the functional requirements. There’s staff on the front desk at all times even during midnight. Location is also great, only 500 meters away from the metro.
2231829****Centrally located, very close to Ruijin Hospital and the subway station, both within a 10-minute walk. Downstairs, there are plenty of shops and restaurants, so you'll never have to worry about food or entertainment. The front desk service was attentive, the room facilities were complete, and the hygiene was guaranteed. It was a very satisfying stay.
MM515252****When you're out and about, convenience is key. I picked a hotel just 200 meters from the subway station, which was super handy. My experience was great; the room was clean and tidy. The front desk staff, especially one lady, was very patient and helpful. They even have a robot to deliver food to your room, and there are self-service washing machines and dryers available. I honestly recommend this place to everyone!
BBenpaodemaomiaThe hotel boasts an excellent location, just a short walk from the metro, making transportation incredibly convenient. Our room was impeccably clean, and the bedding felt fresh and spotless. A thoughtful touch was having two sinks: one in the bathroom and another smartly positioned near the entrance, almost like a small utility or kitchenette area. It was ideal for our trip to see the I.M. Pei architecture exhibition, as the museum was very close by. Step outside, and you'll find a fantastic array of restaurants catering to every meal, from breakfast to dinner. Before visiting the museum, we explored Tianzifang, which offered a great mix of leisure and shopping. I would definitely choose to stay here again.
MM503848****I traveled to Shanghai during the Labor Day holiday. I was very satisfied with this homestay. The decoration and facilities are very new. Very luxurious. It is very close to the scenic spots. It is very convenient to go anywhere in the city center. The bathroom has a bathtub and the bedroom has a terrace. I like it very much.
MM502015****No major issues during my stay here. It's very close to a hospital, and conveniently located near the subway and shopping malls. While the facilities are quite basic, the room was clean and tidy, which made for a comfortable and reassuring stay. The addition of a microwave and refrigerator is a huge plus, making it incredibly convenient. The service is also very good now.
MM240305****This hotel is super convenient with a subway station right outside the door. The front desk staff, especially Hao Dong, was very warm and helpful.
AAnonymous UserLet me talk about the bad aspects first. The facilities are really the most shabby hotel I have ever stayed in. Although I didn't have much expectations for hotel facilities in the center of Shanghai at this price, after actually entering the room, I found that all the facilities and furniture were not just shabby. The good thing is that the hygiene is quite attentive, the service at the front desk is still good, and the soundproofing of the hotel is better than expected, which is also related to the layout of the room. In addition, the location is very good and it is very convenient to get everywhere.
GGuest UserThe millet washing and drying machine is very powerful, the projection TV is very good, the transportation is convenient, it is clean and tidy, the landlord's service is in place, and the missing items are quickly delivered.
