Shangri-La Thousand St. Regis

Nice and new hotel. Hotel is clean and we love the oxygen machine in the room. Train station and airport transfer is also very good. The hotel location is a bit far from town. If the hotel able to provide free shuttle service will be a perfect choice.

Amazing hospitality by the staff at the hotel. Prior to arrival and throughout the stay, we are in contact with the staff via WeChat who provided helpful contacts, information and support. As we had to leave the hotel early after our first night for the Abujicuo hike, the hotel had kindly prepared early breakfast (before 7.30am) for us to takeaway. This includes fruits, milk and bread. Otherwise, the breakfast option (Chinese, continental etc.) will be decided the night before to consume at the breakfast area. As for the room, it has a very modern and luxurious concept to it as seen in photos. The hotel also provides a variety of shower shampoo, body soap and body lotion to choose from (Balmain & others) during check-in. Lastly, we appreciate that the hotel has self-service washing machine/dryer on the rooftop for us to wash clothes after our hikes.

The property is about a year old. It is clean and beautifully furnished. The staff were friendly and helpful with queries. When we had trouble paying our driver through the various platforms, they stepped in to help. For breakfast, they offer a selection of Chinese, ******* and western cuisine. There are also restaurants along the same stretch of road as the hotel. The ancient city is about a 15 min walk down the road from the hotel.

Love this hotel in Shangri-la!! Was welcomed by complimentary pickup from the airport in a Chervelot. Upon arriving at the hotel, we were offered snacks and tea, and 3 types of scents to choose from for shampoo, conditioner and soap. We could also choose from Chinese, Western and Tibentian breakfasts for the next morning. The room itself was well-designed with a modern touch on Tibetian decor. There were 2 oxygenators for those with altitude sickness. We were surprised to be offered with a nourishing dessert soup and fruit as well. As a new hotel, the facilities are in good condition. The hotel managers/ staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and comfortable during our stay. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Shangri-la!

We had a wonderful time at thel hotel. Room is very comfortabe and can compete with international 5 star hotel. Excellent service from the staff, always ready to help. Good quality breakfast set with semi buffet for snacks, salad and fruits.

Despite the information on Trip this is not a St Regis hotel. It is a new hotel and nicely decorated however it could do with some more thought put into the fixtures and fittings - when we arrived two light bulbs were missing in our room and the light switches did not work properly- it was impossible to turn on just the lamps which made it difficult to change the brightness in the room. The staff were friendly and helpful but there were some language barriers. The quality of the breakfast is variable and there is no evening restaurant which would have been welcomed. The only laundry service is on site and is self service, it could do with full instructions in multiple languages.

Wonderful hotel that is amazingly designed. The rooms are spacious and provide everything that the guest might need, including oxygen and underfloor heating. The public areas are beautiful and there is a strong sense of style throughout. Absolutely would recommend to any traveller with the minor caveat that the location is a tiny bit out of the way for the old town, but this does mean it is very quiet.

If I could give more than 5 stars for service, I would have. Staff service was impeccable, professional and maintained with a nice warm personal touch. This is not a St Regis as stated in the Trip.com page, but DO NOT be turned off by that, because the amenities (oxygen supply, free train/airport drop off, welcome snacks/tea, daily fruit platter), and the overall quality of the hotel room stands up to it's 5 star rating. Shangri la was -7 degrees the night we were there, it was too cold for us to be out and Abt, but no worries, we made full use of the 100inch tv in the room instead. Highly recommended hotel that's a 10/15mins walk from the Dukezong ancient town. Discovered a nice river viewing point while walking back to hotel from the ancient town - see picture.
