If you like quirky places with a personality I’d recommend this place. Nice big garden with tables and chairs, an old school bar area and yummy breakfast in a beautifully laid out dining room. Even tho the communal areas are a little dated (which I love!) the actual bedrooms are modern, bright and clean. Allison checked us in and as soon as we met her she made us feel so welcome. She went above and beyond for us, we will 100% be back just to see her! What a fantastic lady!!

Firstly i did not stay at this hotel but if you can hear the music in your hotel room across the road over 100 yds away something is wrong! lord knows what it is like actually in the hotel. Its not ibiza! my hotel actually had music on 19th but it wasnt so loud u could hear it across the road! i guess owing to being hot the windows were wide open but trying to sleep at 11pm proved difficult luckily it stopped around this time each night. Bit of consideration please for guests in other hotels.

I came here with a coach trip, so many of us had to be accommodated at the same time but the small team at the hotel were prepared apart from at breakfast which was very slow. The hotel is dated and could do with a freshen up, it brought me back to the 80s. The staff work tirelessly between reception and the bar and will go out of their way for you. The entertainment was fun Fri-Sunday and got us up dancing especially Jules, who I loved. The hotel is located very close to all the amenities, which was fantastic. The thatched tea rooms highly recommend about 10 mins walk out to the left of the hotel. No lift if you have mobility problems so let the hotel know. Only thing I would suggest if keeping hairdryers in the rooms and toiletries such as shampoo and shower gel. Would I go back……. Absolutely yes, I had a great time

Whilst the staff were really good there were a few issues with the hotel. We were travelling with a group of elderly people and the hotel did not have a lift or a porter. Our room was 3 flights of stairs up which we found difficult lugging our suitcases. That said when we left they did arrange for some of the staff to help. Our room was spotlessly clean although curtains needed updating and we felt that the hotel would benefit from a refurbishment. The food was excellent with variety to suit all needs ( the roast pork dinner on Wednesday was superb).

Lisa and Dianne in restaurant extremely helpful and fast with serving food. Restaurant- food was amazing plenty of it and choices were amazing all freshly cooked. Rooms were very dated need makeover. Carpets filthy. Curtains need replacing. Bar staff were very good all staff very friendly . Just a shame for decor. othereise would have been perfect.

This is an exceptional hotel. I have used the Hotel 3 times, and for a group on tour from the mainland. The manager and all his staff are always polite and helpful. The food and service is very good. The price for all this is very good also. I can see some reviews have slated the decor and 1980's feel, but thats unfair. I assume that they are not hotel owners? Given the price, and the homeliness and the helpfulness of the staff, overall its 100% from me. Well done James & Staff.... see you next year!!

Hotel looked a bit tired and could probably do with a bit of a refurbishment. That said it was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Would stay there again without a doubt. Can’t comment on the breakfast as we had to leave before it was served but the dining room looked lovely.

Being well traveled through Europe & the world we have a reasonable expectations of accommodation. When we arrived at The Medehamstede our hearts sunk at upkeep of the exterior of this hotel. It was appalling & in bad need of some severe maintenance. We thought that the interior of the hotel would be much better. We are sorry to say that again it was in a bad state. It need some serious investment to upgrade to an acceptable standard. The room we stayed in had very thin and poor mattresses that were not fit for purpose. The only saving grace was the food offering and the politeness of the staff. I cannot praise the food enough it was such high standard and quality.

The hotel decor is a little tired & dated . Imagine stepping back into the 1980’s & you’ll come out somewhere close , but it is clean and the beds were soft , although creeky , the bathroom door didn’t close either but that just added to the weird time warp experience . Downstairs in the evening you’ll find friendly staff & residents that are all a little older but enjoying the live entertainment & 60’s & 70’s hits . Overall if your looking for a place to get your head down with wifi & a tv that’s reasonable hotel & price & your not bothered about the wallpaper or decor this may just do the job . Is situated well near Shanklin beach & 10-12 minutes from the Shanklin Chine as well.

The food was exceptional and the staff very friendly and helpful. Very clean and comfortable beds. Although the hotel needs a refurbishment in this day and age how can none afford to do that. I would highly recommend this hotel due to the food and staff and you can access all the attractions of the island from here.

Thank you very much all Staff. I highly recommend this hotel. Staff very friendly, helpful. The hotel may not look great from the outside, but it is very beautiful inside. I mentioned at the reception that my son's birthday is next week and that's why, instead of carousels, I came up with a 2-day tour of the Isle of Wight. My son got a cake for breakfast, and then a delicious breakfast. The hotel made us feel like we were staying with our best friends, they even helped us book a ferry at a promotional price. I give them 10/10 stars. My son said that this hotel feels like Harry Potter because the building looks small, but we walked for a long time through the corridors to get to the room. Our room had a sea view. Beautiful. We wholeheartedly recommend this hotel. From Izabela, Charlie and Patryk.
