In terms of price, this is a very satisfactory hotel, with many local British elderly people staying there. The room is a bit old, and the stairs are narrow and there is no elevator, which is a bit inconvenient to drag the suitcase, but if you just pack light and stay for one night on the Isle of Wight, it is impeccable. The front desk is friendly and relaxing, giving people the feeling that they should take a good rest and relax on the island. I was surprised that the breakfast was a full English meal, which was enough to sustain me for most of the day's hiking.

The hotel is not bad but wouldn't go to it again. Mainly needs more staff, seems they are stretched. Manager needs to assess it.

Stayed here for 4 nights with Caledonian travel (only one other couple stayed here, everyone else went to the Shanklin hotel as they give 4 free drinks away but all I heard was people complaining haha!). Service was a little slow at times but the ladies in the dining room were always working solo so they did their best.The food portions were surprisingly large and all our meals were tasty. Our first night started badly as our hotel room hadn't been cleaned at all so after speaking to the manager he apologised and swapped us to a bigger room. The hotel is very close to the town centre but it's not much of a town. The sea front is a walk down a steep hill, but there is a lift that takes you up and down and I think it was £1.50 but you can apparently use it as many times as you want for that day. Very sleepy town, but nice location.

Hotel was great, staff were friendly and helpful, made me feel welcome and the room was spotless and had everything it needed, I had a great night sleep, will definitely be returning

Stayed for 4 nights at Medehamstede Hotel with Caledonian travel. Tom was an amazing driver. Hotel was oerfect as a base....room was clean and tidy and when we had a plug that didnt work it was fixed straight away. Food was ok..not as hot as we would normally have. Different menu for each night which was great. Shanklin old village was amazing with its own little christmas shop open all year round. Trip to ryde and newport was brilliant. The boat cruise which is not part of the itinerary was amazing a definite must at amazing price. Trip to needles and godshill was great. So many places to visit not enough time will definetly be going back

Just got back from this lovely hotel. We were on a 5 day coach holiday. The room was lovely and clean and the food was delicious and plentiful. The staff are very accommodating. We had an early start on the morning we left but still they were prepared to make us our full Breakfast by coming in early. Definitely recommend.

What a fantastic weekend had by all.lovely clean room.good food and great entertainment.staff were very helpful and friendly.booking for next year already.no lift is a minor irritation when there's plenty of staff eager to help.

This hotel was only 2 star so went with low expectations. Have stayed at many hotels in IOW at the budget end on coach tours. This one was excellent by comparison. Food was plentiful, the rooms very clean and comfortable. Staff were just lovely. Charlotte worked so hard, I hope the manager appreciates her. Alison took such care and Mitch on the last night was fun in his Jamaican berry and dreadlocks. To top all of that there was brilliant entertainment. Glen and Jules brilliant, Paulo maybe not so much.

This was my second visit to the Medehamstede and the guys work so hard there they deserve a second review. James and the team can’t do enough to help you. On arrival Alison was there to welcome us and I had such a warm welcome I felt like I was home from home and she looked after me last year. This year the hotel has the lovely Charlotte behind the bar and she is amazing. The food is basic but there most definitely a choice at breakfast you just have to request it and it will be accommodated. Be prepared it is only a small team and sometimes you do have to wait when there is a large party like ours. As a solo traveler I always feel safe at the hotel and the transport link to the rest of the island is a short walk away. Entertainment was Jules (she is amazing) and Glen on the Friday. I will most certainly be back next year. A Special Shout out to James’s young lad who worked so hard carrying the luggage to the rooms looking very professional and polite.

Good location, comfortable beds but possibly the worst breakfast I’ve ever had, very little choice and extremely poor quality myself and another guest couldn’t eat it as it was so bad only one member of staff serving everyone resulting in poor service I would go back, as the hotel is nice enough, however would get breakfast elsewhere !

I would not recommend. Room had a damp smell. Bathroom was big enough for an ant. That’s not even the beginning. You walk into what looks like faluty towers. Check in like normal. Loads of questionible tat for sale. Bar had nothing worth drinking in it. Walls that a peace of paper over them and then just some paint to cover up. Bath room door in the room was a sliding door that does not LOCK! and keep opening. Windows were dirty. Roof was falling apart in the room . And best bit yet. The stair bannister rocks. So if you want to just fall over the side you can. And steps so small you can fall down quite easy. I’d would not recommend with small kids. And to be honest Will never recommend this place ever. Shambles. Not impressed
