Shantou Golden Gulf Hotel (Vientiane City)

This hotel is really good and offers great value for money. I was worried because of some negative reviews I'd seen, but it turns out my concerns were completely unnecessary. The location is excellent, very close to the food street and MixC shopping mall, making it super convenient for getting around. There are also plenty of dining options nearby. The front desk staff were very helpful and friendly. The wooden furniture is a bit dated, but it's perfectly acceptable. The room was clean and tidy, and the bedding was comfortable. It definitely lives up to its reputation as a long-standing star-rated hotel. Highly recommended!

The hotel's location is great, very close to Longyan Road and MixC, making it convenient for dining and shopping. There's even an airport shuttle right outside. The only downside was that it was under renovation during my stay, so it was quite noisy during the day. Otherwise, everything else was generally good.

I have to give this hotel, especially its service, a glowing review. I unexpectedly twisted my ankle and, on a whim, asked the front desk if they had an ice pack. To my surprise, they did, and even gave me two! Then, after getting a traffic violation while driving a rental car, I wanted to resolve it before leaving Shantou. I asked the front desk if the nearest traffic police station could handle it. They immediately suggested the Shantou Municipal Administrative Service Center, which wasn't far from the hotel, explaining that it could process violations and had longer operating hours. Following their directions, I was able to handle everything in one go. So, the front desk service definitely deserves a big thumbs up! 👍 The hotel has its own spacious parking lot with plenty of spots available. Even though the hotel has been open for a while and shows some age, all the facilities in the rooms are perfectly functional. Items and drinking water were replenished promptly every day, and the cleaning was very thorough. The service standards haven't declined just because the hotel is older; in fact, the hotel is gradually upgrading and renovating its rooms. The hotel is just across the street from Wanjia City and about a 10-minute walk from Longyan South Road. There are multiple bus routes nearby, making it very convenient for getting around and finding places to eat. Right downstairs, there's an airport shuttle service that takes an hour directly to Jieyang Airport, costing 28 RMB per person, with tickets available on demand and departures on schedule.

This is an older hotel, and while the facilities are dated, it's very clean and comfortable, offering excellent value for money. After checking in, the lobby manager gave us a detailed guide to sightseeing in Shantou, which was a lovely and thoughtful touch. I highly recommend staying here.

I was a bit hesitant to book after reading some reviews, so I initially only booked for one night. But as soon as I entered the room, I was really impressed! The decor was luxurious, and the bedding quality was top-notch, so I ended up extending my stay for two more nights. It's also super close to MixC and Longyan South Road, making it very convenient for dining with lots of options available.

Plus, there's a direct shuttle to Jieyang Airport, where you can buy tickets on the spot and leave immediately, which is super helpful for transfers. It seems to be an older five-star hotel in Shantou, having hosted many famous figures and dignitaries. The hardware is a bit dated; even though I was given a non-smoking room, there was still a faint smell of smoke inside, and the bed was on the smaller side. However, the service was prompt, which was a plus.
