Shenyang is located in central Liaoning Province and is the largest city in the Northeast China. The Middle Street area of Shenhe District, the Taiyuan Street area of Heping District, and the Beihang area of Huanggu District are the most prosperous commercial areas in Shenyang, which are filled with a variety of local foods. Additionally, Xita Street has the most delicious food night market in the city. Shenyang's main attractions and historic sites are mostly in the urban area (within Shenyang Ring Expressway G1501). The main attractions in the city include the Shenyang Imperial Palace, Commander Zhang's Mansion, Beiling Park (Zhao Mausoleum of Qing Dynasty), the Liaoning Provincial Museum, the September 18th History Museum, Beita Forest of Steles, etc.
Dongling Park (the Fu Mausoleum of the Qing Dynasty) can be found in the eastern suburbs, while the Shenyang World Expo Park, the Qipan Mountain Scenic Area, Shenyang National Forest Park, and the Shenyang Magic Slope Scenic Area are in the northeast of the city. The period from April to October is the best time to visit to Shenyang. In the spring, the weather is suitable for going out to the suburbs, and autumn is a good season to climb mountains to see the red autumn leaves. The temperature in the summer is 3-5℃ lower than in the southern part of China. However, it should be noted that the spring and autumn seasons in northeast China don’t last for long, and the temperature is not stable.
It is cold and dry in winter but it’s also a great time to enjoy the snow. Not only can visitors ski at several ski areas in the suburbs of Shenyang, but they can also go to Ice and Snow World on Qipan Mountain to check out the ice sculptures. The average temperature during the winter in Shenyang is generally between minus ten and fifteen degrees Celsius, so it’s important to remember to bundle up and keep warm when you go out.
Shenyang's hotel industry is very developed. Visitors can choose to stay in the bustling commercial areas and transport hubs such as the Middle Street area, Taiyuan Street, Shenyang Station, and Shenyang North Station. There are plenty of hotels in Shenyang and serviced apartments at various grades. The Middle Street area is the first choice for tourists because of the two most well-known landmarks of Shenyang, the Imperial Palace and Commander Zhang's Mansion, that are located here. Both the public transportation system and business atmosphere here are quite developed. The area is also home to quite a few express hotels in Shenyang, making it a great place travelers with all types of budgets.
