We checked in at 9:30 PM on the 22nd, and the front desk staff was cold and unwelcoming. They assigned us the farthest room, and no one offered to help with our luggage. At 9:47 PM, I started running water for a bath, and as shown in the picture, the water was discolored – it was quite a shock. I immediately called to report it, and the front desk said they'd send an engineer. The engineer arrived about 8 minutes later, took one look, and just said, 'Let's change rooms,' without explaining why. I then asked for the duty manager to come up. After a 10-minute wait (they said it was due to waiting for the elevator), the duty manager arrived. The solution offered was a room change plus two complimentary breakfasts. By this point, it was already past 10 PM. If it hadn't been so late, we would absolutely not have stayed there. The next morning, at 10 AM, another duty manager called me (at my request) to explain. They said it was due to old plumbing equipment, and they were aware of the issue. For a hotel that only opened in 2019, to already have aging equipment that isn't fully replaced is unacceptable. Coming from a warm and hospitable guesthouse in Changbai Mountain to what's touted as the top luxury hotel in the provincial capital was a massive disappointment. There was no service to speak of (I had to retrieve my own luggage from storage as no one was attending it), and the facilities were lacking. I will never choose this brand again. The two stars are solely for the complimentary breakfast and executive lounge access they offered as compensation (which I didn't even use).
