Jinjiang Inn Select (Shenzhen Huanggang Port Imperial Plaza)

I never write bad reviews, but this hotel was incredibly disappointing. 1. The room's cleanliness was absolutely terrible. There were large patches of dust everywhere, and judging by their color, they were very thick. I have no idea how they usually clean, or if they even clean at all. 2. The room had an awful smell. The front desk claimed this was a non-smoking hotel, but as soon as I entered the room, there was a very strong and unpleasant smell of stale cigarette smoke that was nauseating. I asked the front desk to change rooms, but the new room still reeked. The smoke smell was even stronger by the headboard. Lying on the pillow, I kept getting hit with pungent whiffs of smoke, so much so that I had to sleep with a mask on. When I woke up, even my pajamas had that disgusting smoke smell clinging to them. I have to wonder how this supposedly 'non-smoking' policy is enforced. I suspect someone was smoking directly on the bed and then just throwing the butts under it. The hotel also seems to lack any ventilation system. It was so incredibly stinky! So stinky! So stinky! So stinky! So stinky!

The front desk service was excellent and attentive, and the hotel facilities were complete and comfortable.

The room was tiny, which would've been fine, but the value for money was just terrible. I paid over a thousand for two nights! I really don't understand why, as a single night's price seemed reasonable. If it weren't for its proximity to Huanggang Port, this price would be completely unacceptable. On the plus side, there are some good restaurants downstairs.

The only good thing about this hotel is its proximity to Huanggang Port. I booked a non-smoking room, but it reeked of smoke and mildew. The hotel itself was undergoing renovations, and the building next door was also under construction, so it felt like there was dust everywhere.

Upon entering, I immediately saw a large cockroach crawling on the wall. Later, while eating takeout, a smaller one crawled out from who knows where onto the table. The room had a strong musty smell. The hygiene and environment were truly terrible. I didn't even unpack my luggage or shower that night; I just slept in my clothes. This was my first time using the Huanggang Port, and I booked this hotel specifically because it's so close, hoping to make border crossing easier. However, after experiencing it, I realized there's absolutely no need to stay here. You can stay a bit further away and just take a taxi. Even if you stay at this hotel, you still have to walk the most arduous part of the journey over the skybridge. If it's a holiday and there are a lot of people, it's even worse. You can walk a kilometer after crossing the border and still easily get a taxi. In short, this hotel, in my opinion, has no redeeming qualities (it's really not hard to get a taxi late at night!). The hygiene is also exceptionally poor; I've never seen a hotel with a worse environment, and it's even a chain hotel. I strongly advise against staying here!

The only upside: it's incredibly convenient, just across the road from Huanggang Port. The environment, however, is pretty bad. Even the delivery guys commented that it's expensive and the environment is poor. Right as I walked in, a bug greeted me 🤗... The sink had standing water, and there was a strange smell in the room when I opened the door. The chairs in the room were very old and looked dirty. Overall, the environment and facilities felt like something out of a hotel from the last century. The lighting was extremely dim; even with all the lights on, it was still dark. Breakfast options were also limited.

This hotel is incredibly close to Huanggang Port, just over 600 meters away. Although you need to use a pedestrian bridge, there are elevators on both sides, so it's not an issue at all. It's super convenient from here, highly recommended. The hotel itself is good overall, and delivery food can even be brought right to your door, which is really convenient, especially for those who need to catch a flight. A one-way business car from Huanggang Port to the airport is only 80 (return trip is 150), super recommended!

The hotel is still undergoing renovations, and there's road construction on the way from the subway station, which made getting around a bit inconvenient. However, for this price point, it's quite a good deal. The hotel is located in a large residential area, so shopping is quite convenient.

No complaints whatsoever. We checked in at night and left early in the morning to cross the border at Huanggang Port for Hong Kong Airport to catch an early flight. It's perfect for those who have an early flight and want to get a few hours of sleep instead of spending the whole night at the airport.
