Night shift assistant manager's service attitude: 0/5
Last night, something unexpected happened. We checked in at 4 AM, and around 5 AM, the turndown service staff, after ringing the doorbell with no response, swiped their card and opened the door. This startled my girlfriend, who was sound asleep, as she thought I had returned.
After we checked in, she fell fast asleep. I quietly went downstairs to the bar for a drink. Then, I suddenly received a message saying someone had opened the door and entered, thinking it was me returning. I immediately rushed back upstairs to check.
I believe the room service attendant was just following procedure, so I don't fault them. However, the professionalism and attitude of the night shift assistant manager were truly disappointing. I frequently stay in hotels, so I know to put out the 'Do Not Disturb' sign. But I never imagined that after checking in at 4 AM, someone would swipe into the room for turndown service barely an hour later.
I've stayed in five-star hotels for decades and have never encountered such unprofessionalism – assuming a recently checked-in guest isn't in the room. Anyway, she really liked the two complimentary cups they sent afterward, so I won't give you a one-star review. I'll give you five stars, hoping you can be as good as Four Seasons worldwide. Please ask guests if they need turndown service before they check in. I hope to see an improvement next time I visit.
