Crowne Plaza SHENZHEN WECC by IHG

Took the kids out for a foodie and fun trip during the Qingming Festival. Prices on Trip were all over the place; I originally wanted to book InterContinental for around 3,000, but switched to the Crowne Plaza. The service was top-notch, with staff always smiling, and they even upgraded my room! Kenny was great to chat with – it’s always a plus to have good conversations when you’re on holiday, right? There's nothing special about the food near the hotel, but there was a Hakka restaurant (can't remember the name) that was really good. After dinner, we just followed Gaode Maps back to the hotel, and it was perfect!

The service was great! As a member, I received two drink vouchers, and I believe they upgraded my room. The bed was a super king (2.2m), which was more than enough space for me and my friend. The room faced the pool directly, and I'll definitely come back when I have the chance. The only downside was the TV in the room; it kept flickering between blurry and HD, and the frame rate drops were pretty severe. It's definitely due for a replacement.

I booked this hotel for my husband's conference and studies, and it turned out to be a wonderful surprise! First off, all the staff were incredibly professional, enthusiastic, and always willing to help guests. The hotel is super close to the exhibition center, and right outside is a river. The hotel provides free bicycles and camping equipment, and a walk along the river is really pleasant. The breakfast selection isn't huge, but the quality is great. Room service is very prompt, and it's a very family-friendly place.

I rarely bother to write reviews, but this stay truly made me feel like I was back in the golden age of five-star hotels from over a decade ago. Every staff member I encountered, from the front desk and concierge to housekeeping and the lobby bar, delivered genuine five-star service – warm, polite, and dedicated, without ever asking for a good review. Allen, who helped me check in, Neil, who assisted with my check-out, and the attentive and responsible concierge, Lin Ziping, all left a lasting impression. It's been years since I've experienced such a service team. The hotel's management must be incredibly professional, dedicated, and competent. When I saw that the hotel's yoga room had been converted into a children's play area, and that the front desk offered complimentary bubble machines, bicycles, and even camping gear, I couldn't help but admire the management's flexibility and thoughtfulness. In an era where everything is driven by maximizing profit, I truly felt a commitment to quality service here. It's incredibly rare to find this level of service today, especially with the general decline in traditional five-star hotel quality. This will definitely be my first choice whenever I visit Shenzhen again.

I visited the newly opened MixC Shopping Village in Dongguan, and this hotel popped up as one of the closest options. The lady at the front desk who checked me in was incredibly nice; she even made the effort to speak Cantonese for my convenience, which I really appreciated. She also upgraded my room, which was huge! After a day out, a relaxing bath hit just the spot. The next day, I checked out the gym and it was fantastic – high ceilings, plenty of natural light, a really pleasant environment overall. Both the check-in and check-out staff were super friendly and professional. It’s been years since I encountered hotel staff this genuinely nice and competent! On top of that, we accidentally left a set of pajamas behind when checking out. We were just going to forget about them, but the hotel proactively contacted us and offered to mail them back. So thoughtful, big thumbs up! I absolutely have to recommend this place. It's located right on the border between Dongguan and Shenzhen. Next time I'm in Dongguan or Shenzhen, I'll definitely stay here again! Highly recommend!!!

The front desk staff were really lovely; they even gave us complimentary drink vouchers, and the concierge service was excellent – we felt right at home. However, the staff at the buffet breakfast entrance seriously need to improve their adaptability! We woke up late that day and only had five minutes before breakfast closed. All three of our kids are over 1.2 meters tall, and they insisted we pay for their breakfast. They wouldn't let us pay for just one, demanding payment for two children. I could understand this if we had arrived earlier, but with only a few minutes left and barely any food, who would be happy to pay 200 yuan? They heartlessly refused to let the children enter the restaurant, even when I said they just wanted to grab two eggs and some milk and leave! I'm still fuming recalling it! In all my years of staying in hotels, this is the first time I've encountered such inflexible staff!

The hotel's location isn't in the city center, but there are a few malls about a 15-20 minute drive away. We checked in with our child, but the front desk staff didn't proactively tell us about the hotel's children's facilities or bicycle rentals. They only gave a brief overview when we asked. Also, we booked an executive room, but the front desk didn't mention any executive lounge benefits during check-in. Although we checked in after 7 PM, that's no excuse not to inform us. Later, I called and found out the executive lounge hours were 2 PM to 10 PM. However, the food was already cleared by 8 PM, leaving only drinks, so we didn't go. It's a bit of a shame we missed out on the executive lounge experience. I hope management can improve front desk service training. The room was mostly as pictured, spacious, and the mattress wasn't too soft, so we slept very well. Breakfast was good with a decent variety. I ordered the rice noodle rolls from the member menu, but unfortunately, the soy sauce was plain and didn't taste good. What's really worth recommending is the indoor children's play area on the second floor, which was the main reason we chose this hotel. One room has a small ball pit and climbing slide, while the other has building blocks, children's billiards, table tennis, and arcade games (like Mario and Adventure Island). Our child spent a long time playing there. We stayed during the Chinese New Year, so breakfast was busy. By just after 9 AM, there was already a queue outside the restaurant. However, the children's facilities weren't too crowded. Overall, it's worth staying here if you're traveling with kids.
