Hotel Grand Palace Shiogama

The hotel was clean and tidy, but the decor was a bit dated. The single rooms were a good size. The hotel lobby was spacious. Location-wise, it's close to the train station and near Aeon Mall, which has a large supermarket and restaurants. There are also many sushi restaurants nearby. Staying at Shiogama Hotel is also a good choice when visiting Matsushima. Shiogama is a comfortable town with some nice attractions. The autumn shrines are particularly beautiful with their maple leaves. Taking the JR train to Matsushima is convenient, and you can also take a sightseeing boat directly to Matsushima, which is a great experience. Some of the hotel staff at the front desk don't speak much English, but they are generally polite. There's a small hill behind the hotel with a small shrine; consider climbing it for a panoramic view of the town.

There is a microwave oven located to the right of the front desk and you can use it freely. Also, on the day of my stay, I had a 5am departure, but I just asked the hotel front desk and they called a taxi for me. I had tried to call a taxi company the day before but was turned down, so this was really helpful. Thank you very much.

It is very conveniently located near the station and shopping centre.
