Old style service and class! From first entering the hotel the staff were incredibly friendly and genuinely wanted to help with bringing luggage to our room and answering any queries we had . Could ring reception for any queries and answered immediately . The lunch menu was amazing ! The Eton Mess was a work of art - simply delicious

We stayed for one night as part of our travels round Yorkshire. First impression was very good and the hotel looked beautiful. We did have to wait around at reception for a while, until someone spotted us. Welcome Prosecco was nice to receive. We used the spa and pool area, which was very clean and pleasant, and relatively quiet. Chatted to several people there who were gym members. The room was nice, but did feel rather dull. I was disappointed to find there were no nice toiletries and not even shower gel! I thought it had been forgotten about so I phoned the receptionist who said she’d get some, then she phoned me back to say they don’t do it- how bizarre!! I was frustrated about that and can’t believe a 5 star hotel wouldn’t have shower gel or hand wash (only a soap bar) but the manager confirmed the next day that there had been recent changes and they now don’t do it . Another annoyance was that there weren’t any bath robes. Small issues I know, but when you’re just there to chill, those items are expected from a 5 star hotel. Anyway, the breakfast was good quality and all staff we met were polite and helpful. Although the stay was nice enough, we wouldn’t go back and we enjoyed our stay at Middlethorpe Manor (20 mins away) more - and they had nice,fluffy robes and Penhaligon toiletries! Ha ha.

We have stayed here several times, it is our favourite local escape. We have never been disappointed and this occasion was no different. I booked our stay to celebrate my husband’s birthday and it was wonderful. One of the things we love about Wood Hall is the staff. They are a truly amazing bunch, nothing is too much trouble and they make us feel special every time we visit. On this occasion we were treated like royalty and it will be a birthday to remember. I am already planning our next visit!

I stayed here during the recent warm weather for a couple of nights. Most importantly the staff and attentive service here is excellent. The rooms are feeling a little tired, the rooms have (not very good) air con but I prefer fresh air. Unfortunately of the three windows only one would stay open but where there’s a will there’s a way. My room wasn’t serviced on one day as it accidentally got missed. I asked for a simple refresh of milk, water and towels as I get mistakes happen but I had to remind reception to do that after that was also forgotten. All meals were ok, but very slow to arrive after ordering. Breakfast was excellent. I do like the venue and would visit again.

My sons wedding was held in this marvellous country hotel, the rooms were all unique and full of great touches, the venue worked really well great food, great place. And finally the staff, everyone was friendly nothing was too much trouble and they made sure everyone felt as if they were a special guest.

The hotel was lovely staff and food excellent. Alicia in spa was superb . Definitely would recommend this hotel the surrounding area and views amazing. Spotlessly clean goodies bag to take home with water all extras which make this hotel special.

I booked the hotel for a night away, the night before my wife's 60th Birthday on 21st December 2023. I'll start by saying we are seasoned short stayers in spa hotels and love them. However, Wood Hall Spa Hotel and overall experience was a class above the rest. Rather than the usual cheery, some times false, welcome, we were greeted by Richard. Our overnight experience began not only with a warm welcome but Richard wishing Mandy a very happy birthday (only mentioned once when i booked with on the phone. He invited us to take a seat in the Drawing room with a glass of Spiced Apple and Prosecco fizz... and relax. After, we'd checked in, Richard showed us to our room and then the spa and pool. Nothing was too much trouble. The welcome at the Spa and pool was as warm. Again we were shown the changing rooms, given two towels, explained how the digital lockers worked. We had an hour of pool time. Mandy was booked in for a facial and back, neck and shoulder massage, and I quote, "that was the best I've ever had". We chilled in our spacious room for an hour and changed for dinner. We had another wonderful welcome. The service, food, wine and ambience was exquisite. The staff were attentive without hovering and very personable, we so enjoyed their company and their excellent service. I retired to the bar for a final nightcap cognac and once again the young lady serving (studying at Nottingham Uni) was excellent, working long hours and her smile and personality were just what I needed. We slept like all logs on the oh so comfortable beds, firm just how I liked my matress, the pillow were full x 6, we only needed one each. Our only observation was the spacious wardrobes that houses the safe and refreshments facilities/ fridge could have done with a light in them to see the drinks making facilities better. The cleanliness of the bedroom, bathroom, and the entire hotel were excellent too. Once we'd risen the following morning, we had the perfect breakfast from the extensive menu, again nothing was too much trouble for the staff when we wanted to mix a couple of options. We packed and said a fond farewell to the team and amazing boutique hotel but not before being presented with a bag by Richard. Enclosed, 2 apples, 2 bottles of water, 2 energy bars and "Hand Picked" brochure for our onward journey; sometimes it's the simple things. The service at this hotel was excellent, and the extras provided were great (glass of Prosecco on arrival.l, bathroom amenities, bag of snacks to take away for onward journey). There was a wide choice of breakfast meals. The room itself was very nice and clean. It was very traditional and perhaps it might need an update in the next couple of years. But all in all, excellent value for money.

Staff at the spa could not have been more helpful. The massage was one of the best I have had and the place really looked well kept and cared for. The Spa is not the biggest but perfectly adequate. We did go mid week and had chairs reserved, not sure why it would be like if it was busy. Lunch was lovely and the chap serving went the extra mile. I forget his name but he was 84 years old and super helpful. Even the bar manger was really helpful and engaging and talked about the new drinks menu they are producing. All in all a great spa day, the grounds and house are beautiful but it was the staff that made it feel special.

Stunning place real Yorkshire hospitality - stayed for my daughter’s wedding. Most relaxed and friendly venue - beautiful setting - service informal and happy ….. rooms spotlessly clean …. The staff were the highlight - just chilled and happy - the banqueting food was excellent can often be a bit poor … but restaurant quality … breakfast again the quality v v good! An ex hotelier - it was the best venue I have been to for a wedding ! Most relaxed and friendly …..

Most beautiful hotel, the staff especially Andrew gave a wonderful experience. I travel all over the world for work. What I loved was as I walked in Andrew greeted us with warmth and a glass of prosecco and drinks for the girls. Our room was a family room and great space and furnishings to a high standard. We had 2 dogs so there was room for all of us!! The bar service and drinks again exceptional the service the way the staff dress and are at your every need. Best Margarita I have had. Then there is the spa!! Again I have experienced many massages and facials. For 2 hour session the price was so reasonable and divine using Elemis products. The pool was so cute and open to the family then you can sit outside and admire the view. With 2 dogs they should us a walking route which took us into the countryside to saviour in the area. You can take dogs into the bar and breakfast bar area but not into the main restaurant which is fine.

My sister and I plus our two husbands have just returned from a spa package break at the lovely Wood Hall. The location is spectacular and we received the usual Hand Picked Hotels warm welcome. Very comfortable rooms with great views, blessed with warm weather so able to have lunch sitting on the terrace. What a treat ! The gym and pool were lovely and then fabulous treatments in the spa. A special shout out from me for the lovely Samantha who delivered one of the best massages I’ve had. Dinner was superb as was breakfast the following morning. Each and every member of staff here goes above and beyond to provide excellent client service. A fanatic stay. The spa package break is also really good value. We will be back.

We chose Wood hall to stay for the night before a flight from Leeds Airport and we’re so glad we did. What a treat. The welcome we received from Richard on arrival was great, professional and engaging. Our room was lovely, it even had a small bottle of fresh milk in the fridge for your tea and coffee instead of the usual UHT pots. We ate from the bar menu in the evening which had a good choice and was really nice. The breakfast next morning was fantastic what made the stay really special was the staff. Every staff member that we saw spoke to us and made us feel welcome, and offered great service. We will definitely return for a longer break next time.

Fabulous short stay at this lovely country house hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff; the room was very comfortable and clean, the food excellent & the setting beautiful. The spa pool a good size and changing rooms spotlessly ckean; with no shortage of soft towels.
