The hotel is just outside the Porta Romana of Siena, and we choose it because it was more convenient, since we arrived by car, and it is not allowed to park inside the gates of the historic part of the city. Overall, the hotel was very good. You could see that the rooms were recently renovated and everything was new. We just didn’t like the fact that, in our room, the beds were in a kind of second floor, and the bathroom was under it, so we had to go up and down the stairs all the time. Also, during the breakfast, the staff serves your food, and I believe it would be easier if they just let the guests take their own food, because, at times, it formed a big line waiting to be served.

The quaint charm of this petite hotel is accentuated by its lovely garden and fantastic view. It's a 15-minute walk from the historical center and a quick 10-minute taxi ride from the train station (need to pay in cash, about 16 euros). The breakfast was good. Even though complimentary drinking water or water kettle was not offered, hot water can be requested from the bar. The two-level triple room felt extremely tight with a narrow spiral staircase in the middle of the room. The room or its bathroom lacked sufficient counter space. It will be wise to upgrade to a bigger room.

We were very pleased with our 3 night stay at this hotel. We paid a little extra for a superior room, which faced the garden. The king sized bed was very comfortable and the room was nice and quiet. We enjoyed the breakfast, which had considerable variety. Staff was very professional and helpful. One real positive was having use of the garden to have a drink and meet other guests. We definitely recommend Hotel Santa Caterina.

Walking distance to one of the entrances to Siena, wonderful staff, always friendly and helpful. Lovely continental breakfast with good selection, unique rooms. My favorite part was the back patio area where you could eat breakfast overlooking the Tuscan countryside, or enjoy a bottle of wine at the end of the day. Highly recommend!

Wonderful hotel, a true wonder to wake up in the morning with the view and have breakfast outside looking at the hills. Very nice and friendly staff. Recommended.

Hotel Santa Caterina was wonderful, rooms a bit small, but comfortable. The view of the Tuscan hillside from their garden balcony (where we had breakfast) was especially beautiful.
The only flaw was their window shutters did not let in enough light, offering no view, and leaving the room very dark all the tme!!

Unique and dear to my heart, with breakfast outdoors and a Tuscany view to enjoy. Bathtub was slippery, though, and a mat and some grab bars would be a welcome addition for us older folks.

Upon my arrival I realized I didn’t need to worry about any misunderstanding or looking up how to say my words in Italian, the receptionists “spoke” the courteous smile language, that genuine smile that says more than words and any person willing to go above and beyond have. Only stayed for one day, but surely will come back and stay here longer.
