Borgo Grondaie

This property is located on the opposite side of a narrow valley from the Siena Old Town, positioned in a more rural spot reminiscent of agrotourism (there is in fact an agrotourism business nearby). On a map it looks like it is close to the rail station – why I chose it – but it’s not. Because of this I would up taking several taxi rides, significantly increasing the cost of this stay. The property is nowhere near anything, other than a large supermarket. Besides the inconvenient location and markedly higher cost from taxis, Borgo Grondaie offered a pleasant stay. The room was very comfortable, quiet and well equipped, and the WIFI rock was solid. The service was courteous and attentive throughout. Guests were offered breakfast each morning which, other than the powdery eggs, was decent … though I’m not sure it was included in the price (I overheard another guest being offered it for a whopping 13 euro!). The property management worked hard to make sure my stay was perfect. If Borgo Grondaie would have been anywhere near anything, it would have been.

Very good expérience. Really beautiful and kind place. All thé personnel IS very sympatical and professionnel. WE Hope to Come again if it's possible. Thé décoration IS also very cool with old fournitures.

What a great experience. The hotel was very clean and has the classic Tuscan look. In comparison to other hotels during my stay through Italy, this was the most true to the Italian experience. Walking distance from good restaurants. Great breakfast variety. I really enjoyed my time there

What a lovely property in a unique setting! Our check in was smooth but after a long day of travel and storm Ciaran delays we would have appreciated being able to get into our room to relax for a moment before being made to recite each item we might want for breakfast the following day! That being said, breakfast was truly excellent. We enjoyed the lovely cakes and cappuccino immensely. Our room was not nearly as spacious as those in Florence and Rome, but it was rustic and comfortable just the same. We were anxious to have a cold drink after a long travel day but unfortunately the fridge did not work. Staff responded quickly but instead of a quick swap, they chose to turn it upside down for several hours. It was only a minor inconvenience but certainly would have been better checked before guests arrive! We definitely appreciated the comfortable bed and quality linens. And for hot water and pressure, the shower is one of the best we have experienced anywhere in the world! The most incredible disappointment for us was reading all of the marketing hype about "family" and "service" and "attention to detail" and yet not a single person introduced themselves. Not ever over a six day stay. Furthermore, we had advance correspondence about choosing Borgo Grondaie for our 40th anniversary. Not a single mention of our anniversary even though they were aware. (Well wishes or a glass of Prosecco would certainly be the norm in Canada.) This may be something not done in Italy but it would have been easy and free for the hotel staff to do. The most unacceptable was the fact that never were we called by our names! Not even once. Not ever. Not one time! Doing what all the marketing says they do would have gone a long way to make this a memorable stay. Instead what we will remember is a "promise" that was not fulfilled.

A delightful hotel in a quiet location and with a friendly and helpful staff. The hotel has a few acres of grounds in which to relax and a swimming pool in which to cool off. We stayed in a comfortable, spacious and well-appointed apartment. The hotel is conveniently close to the railway station adjacent to which is a shopping complex and a very useful escalator access to the centre of Siena. There is a large Co-Op store near the hotel. The approach to the hotel from the railway station is not particularly pleasant on foot and it ends with a fairly steep walk which would be difficult for the less mobile. During our three- day stay we had an informative walking tour of Siena one afternoon and a day trip into the Tuscan countryside which included visits to San Gimignano and Montalcino as well as two wineries. We were collected from the hotel for the latter.

We were looking for a quiet place to sleep within reasonable walking distance of Siena where we could prepare our own meals for a few days in between other adventures. The apartment was perfect, the staff were helpful and we were an easy stroll to a Coop where we could get our own food. The walk to town is about 15 minutes but pleasant and easy when you use the escalator from the train station. I wish we had been there in warmer weather when we might have used the pool as it looks lovely. If we are ever back in the area we would certainly stay here again.

Good for longer stays. Acess convenient by car/taxi otherwise 10m sloped walk to to/from bus/train stations.

It's a fantastic place! People are friendly and helpfull. Very good breakfast. There is a swimming pool and bbq place in the garden. It' s only few kilometers to the Old Town. The lady in reception give us a map of Siena and show us how to get to the most important places. I hope, I'll back. ❤️
