ISLAND CENTER POINT

Koh Rong Sanloem Sihanoukville|1.41km from Koh Rong Sanloem
We booked a deluxe sea view room at Island Center Point and it was stunning. Everything in the room was finished to a high standard: quality furniture, a comfortable bed and a beautiful outdoor bathroom with luxury toiletries. We were able to step straight from the terrace of our room onto the beach where there are lovely cabanas dotted around. The staff were all delightful, friendly and eager to help whenever they were needed. Island Center Point is towards the end of the bay closest to the jetty where the ferry drops you. It’s very quiet which suited us, we were able to dip in and out of the livelier bars further along the bay whenever we wanted and then return to the peace and comfort of our resort. It feels as though there is still work going on (not that we were in the least disturbed) and I imagine things will only improve as it becomes more established. Saracen bay is lovely, the sand is probably the best I’ve ever come across - it’s like talcum powder. On the two days we were there our side of the island was very breezy, which we were told is often the case in the dry season - this was actually very nice and kept the temperature down but for a change of scenery we also followed the signs and walked across the island to Lazy Beach where you could have been on a different island everything was so calm. There is a lovely bar and restaurant on Lazy Beach which I would also recommend. Breakfast is buffet style in the restaurant and caters to all tastes but a small criticism would be that staff were slow to replenish food that had run out. The restaurant is open all day and serves dinner in the evening but it was very quiet on both the nights we stayed - it’s set back from the beach and to me it lacked atmosphere at night and didn’t appear to draw people in. Given the other very positive reviews about the food I would see this as a great opportunity to make things more inviting and then I’m sure good trade would follow. All in all I would highly recommend.

Cool ocean view, clean and spacious room, friendly people, reasonable price... . It was the best accommodation during this trip. Especially the sunset from the hotel balcony is so beautiful that it brings tears to my eyes.

Contrary to most reviews, we actually have quite a pleasant stay at Orchid Resort, maybe also because we did not have high expectations. It is located right at the pier where we alight from the speedboat from Sihanoukville. Room and toilet were clean except that there is a sewage smell in the toilet, think there is no proper sewage on the island. Water pressure is weak too but I guess it is normal on the island. Booked snorkeling activities with Kamakazi (highly recommended in another review) and they are able to pick us up by boat directly at Orchid Resort. The only complaint is their check out time is 11am which they did not inform us when we check in so we had assumed it is 12pm like most hotels. Had to rush when we went to request for late check out at 10.30am (after we woke up) since our ferry to sihanoukville is 3.30pm. They did not approve our late check out request but they agreed to extend our check out till 11.30am after we said we need more time.

It rained heavily on the first day on the island, and the house felt very humid and not particularly comfortable. The second and third days were all sunny, and the sea water became clear, so it felt like a vacation. Consumption on the island is relatively expensive. Mineral water costs two dollars and rice costs one dollar. Apart from the expensive price, everything else is okay. The hotel is garden style, compared to the two nearby hotels, this hotel is very good. The hotel's breakfast is also very good, with fruits and Cambodian rice noodles.

A truly unforgettable experience and in the best possible way. If you want to have fun and party the night away that is one option. If you want to make some lifelong friends and swim with the bioluminescent plankton after dark you can do that too. The staff tried there best to make everyone happy and provide great service throughout the day. If you ask then you shall receive. They are hiring new staff too so if you're tempted to make the move to the island then that's a possibility. A quick word on the ferry situation. Do not book a return transfer if Bodega is your last port of call before going back to the mainland. They provide an excellent ferry service from the nearby port and you'd also be tempted to extend your stay with them. Book the ferry with Bodega to make everything smoother.

The hotel is located directly by the sea and the bungalows with a cozy terrace are located in a beautifully landscaped, spacious, well-kept park. For long journeys you can order a caddy to the restaurant, pool or reception free of charge via the app. The shuttle from the ferry to the hotel can also be ordered free of charge - via the beach. The staff is very attentive and very friendly and requests are fulfilled immediately. Breakfast was included and the buffet was very stylishly prepared, very large selection, Asian, European and even with pastries, s*****s and cheese. The food in the restaurant is very expensive, but there are many restaurants and shops within walking distance of the beach. Pool and beach always very clean and well maintained.
