Very disappointing stay-would not return
After reading some of the positive reviews, we decided to give The Nostalgia Hotel a try, thinking it would be a pleasant boutique hotel for a three-night stay. Unfortunately, our experience was very different.
We booked a room advertised as approximately 20–24 sqm, but if we understood the description correctly, the advertised size must have included the balcony. The actual usable room space was extremely small. We had only two small suitcases, yet there was nowhere to put them other than beside the entrance. We could barely open one suitcase, and once it was open, we literally had to walk sideways to get past it. This is simply not practical accommodation for two adults staying several nights.
The room also had no proper window. There was a glass door, but directly behind it was a solid timber door leading to the balcony. As a result, the room felt dark, enclosed and considerably more confined than we expected from the description.
The pool area was particularly underwhelming and uninviting. It felt very bare and stark, with virtually no greenery.
The lady who checked us in was genuinely lovely-friendly, welcoming and helpful with her local recommendations. Unfortunately, that was the highlight of the stay.
We found the room so uncomfortable that we left after only 2 of our 3 prepaid nights and moved to another hotel. What made the experience even more disappointing was the attitude when we checked out early. The gentleman at the front desk didn’t even ask why we were leaving, whether there was a problem, or whether there was anything he could do to help. Given that we were leaving a night we had already paid for, some basic concern or acknowledgement would have been appreciated.
We expected the room to be realistically usable for two people with luggage and to reflect how the room is presented in its description.
Perhaps other rooms at the hotel are better, but based on the room we were given and our overall experience, we would not stay here again. The positive reviews raised our expectations considerably, and unfortunately the reality fell well short of them
