Grupotel Playa Club

We were there in September with our two year old and had a wonderful week. Located near a lovely small sandy beach with a few supermarkets and restaurants all less than five minutes walk away. You'll find everything you need within walking distance if you're not up for exploring (we kept it simple). Our apartment backed on to a lovely grassy area, with a small balcony which was private enough to sit out on in peace. The grounds are kept beautifully with the names of plants and trees tagged all around the site. Towards the back of the grounds there is a kids play and some sandy ground with football nets area that could do with a facelift but that's a minor detail. There are two swimming pools, both impeccably clean with plenty of sunbeds to go round. There is a pool bar too with ice creams and generous measures of quality spirits on offer as well as a dining area. The kids club and small play area are situated at the back of the pool area along with boxes full of toys to use in the swimming pool which turned out very handy. What really stood out for us all week were the on-site staff.. everyone from the reception, the cleaners, the serving staff in the food area.. every single one of them were warm, genuine and helpful (and very hard working). Such a credit to the hotel. The apartment itself was very clean and had everything you need - comfortable beds, plenty of space and storage. TV in bedroom and living area (although could have done with more English channels), small kitchen and dining table... Cleaned every day with fresh new towels if needed. I wasn't a fan of the floor tiles but again small details! We only did the bed and breakfast option, breakfast was brilliant. Everything you could possibly imagine on offer every morning, including local Menorcan sausage and cheeses. There were freshly made eggs, omelette and pancakes, nuts, fruits, yogurts fresh coffee all kinds of pastries and breads.. basically everything! The coffee was served via a bean to cup machine, there were three in total and maybe could do with one more to alleviate queues at busy times. Also, the labelling on some food items could have been better but overall a fantastic breakfast awaits you every morning. Kids club in the evening was good and there were other shows available too.. perfect to keep the little ones happy before bed and allow the parents to have a drink. A couple of other points of interest: At least one hour from airport depending on how many stops the coach makes. Predominantly German resort at least while we were there but that is a positive if you ask me! Be prepared for mosquitoes! All on all a great week with great memories.. we highly recommend Gropotel Playa club and hope to be back again next year.

The hotel was excelent in almost every department. We were B&B and the breakfast was really good, as was the service. The pool was lovely. We were down at some point every day and never failed to get a bed. There was no reserving beds with towels. The rooms were spacious and well cleaned. Bathrooms were large though decor was showing signs of age. The hotel was in a lovely area only 15/20 minutes walk into the centre where most restaurants were, around the Marina. Staff were very good. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel. We will return!

This was our second visit and it was very much as expected. The staff our very friendly and attentive. It is disabled friendly and one advantage going this time of year (mid September) is that there are sun loungers aplenty, indeed most days there were more empty beds than occupied. The food is pretty standard and there is usually plenty of choice. The location of the hotel is quite a walk from the marina (shops and restaurants) but there are local supermarkets and a few restaurants a short walk away. The only gripe is that the request that ‘gentlemen are requested to wear trousers in the restaurant in the evening’ is ignored and nobody is challenged. Now I know people come on holiday to relax and I am not expecting full suit and tie but surely putting on a pair of trousers is not a hardship is it? Similarly the women in the evening seem to vary between smart and dressing up and those who appear to have come straight from the pool! The rooms (twin bedroom) are fine and have a few facilities in them including a fridge for storing drinks etc. overall though there are few signs that the hotel/rooms could do with a bit of a facelift. We didn’t take part in any of the evening shows so cannot comment on the quality, the daily activities were organised well (water aerobics etc) and the lifeguard is very helpful around the pool. The pool bar provides a good range of snacks and service is good. I do not know what the hotel is like peak season but a September visit (both visits have been at this time) will give you a relaxing time and the reception team are very helpful regarding any queries. Pool towers are 10€ each but this is refundable and they can be changed if you need to at no extra cost, safe deposit fee is 5€. Would we stay again, yes sometime in the future. Would I recommend it, well the review should hopefully give you a balanced opinion.

The room was spacious, with bedroom, living area, kitchen area, and terrace; it was clean and well looked after. The staff was friendly and helpful. The pool area was great, it was quiet, sizeable pool for the amount of guests, peaceful space to relax by the pool with good snack bar food for lunch. Sadly we found a cockroach in our room on the last day. I live in Spain and know that it’s a Spain problem and doesn’t necessarily reflect cleanness of the space but this should be addressed.

The hotel in all areas is immaculately clean. It’s in a lovely location, a short walk away from the main resort but close to a pretty beach and some wonderful restaurants. The really good bits - Breakfast was great with a wide selection of hot and cold options including pancakes and local Minorcan produce. - The grounds are STUNNING! - The staff are all lovely and helpful - The rooms are large and service daily. The Not So Good - Some of the Devore is tired and dated - The beds and bedding are of poor quality. We found it difficult to sleep as the beds were very hard. - Our ground floor room / terrace view was blocked by a large bush and also the terrace didn’t really feel like a useable space as it was open and people often walked immediately in front of it. - Childrens entertainment (or lack of). Anya is wonderful, she works very hard to engage all guests of all ages and arranges all activities. She speaks 5 languages fluently and definitely deserves lots of praise as she works really hard all day every day into the evening to host the entertainers etc. Santi on the other hand, is lazy disengaging and useless. He often sat back and allowed Anya to carry heavy equipment alone. He told my husband he was bored because all of the kids had gone home despite there being children around including our 5 year old. When our son went to play, Santi sat scrolling on his phone and stopped to have lengthy chats with colleagues and in 2 weeks, the only activity he arranged each day was colouring pencils and paper. We booked the hotel for the children’s activities on offer and this fell very short of our expectations. I would say that the hotel is closer to a 3 star rating and overall, was not great value for money.

This is a great hotel and highly recommend. Clean, friendly staff, good quality drinks and food. Always free sunbeds and big pool. Good for families with older children who still want a relaxing holiday. Firstly the hotel has sofa’s beds in the apartments which are actual comfortable beds good mattress so great for that 5 ft 10 teenager. Wi-Fi coverage in rooms etc good and the part of the pool near the pool bar is deep. There are activities organised such as water polo and football and there is a pool table/ table tennis which is undercover. Best holiday hotel we have stayed in.

Impeccable service, staff were fantastic and friendly but also professional. Evening entertainment was fine on certain nights, dodgy on others. The location is great for families and couples alike. Accommodation is excellent

Just the most amazing stay at this hotel. From the moment we arrived, the staff went out their way to make us feel welcome. Our room was positioned on the ground floor with a lovely terrace over looking the pool. The apartment was beautifully clean and well equipped with everything you need. Cleaned every day with fresh towels if needed. The pool was gorgeous lots of sun loungers , never struggled to get one with an umbrella as well. Was booked B&B and the breakfast was delicious, lots of choices, bacon eggs omelette etc , fresh breads pastries fruit yogurt, just about everything you can think of. The snack bar at the pool, had a lovely menu, of wraps , baguettes , burgers pizzas. All very fresh and delicious. Drinks were reasonable priced and all good, especially liked the cocktails 🍹. Small beach 5min walk and Cala n boush beach and marina about 15/ 20 min walk. Both beaches very busy but lovely. Such a lovely hotel would not hesitate recommending.

We have just returned from our stay at grupotel playa club and it was fantastic! I rarely feel moved to write a review but we had such a great stay I felt compelled to. The hotel staff were brilliant - very friendly and attentive and the activities team in particular were superb (Aniya and her teammate- we didn’t catch his name - added such value to our stay!). The facilities were excellent - pool, ping pong, great apartment, spotlessly clean (air conditioning a godsend)…and the pool was amazing! The atmosphere is relaxed, a great family vibe and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely walks to local beach and a little further (10 minutes) to Cala n Bosch with its sandy beach and gorgeous little marina. We didn’t want to come home and will definitely be back!
