Soar Mill Cove Hotel

The best family hotel we have ever stayed in. We’ve been coming here for about 12 years on and off and that in itself tells you how much we love it here. Lovely family orientated place to relax walk swim . Food is excellent and staff are really friendly and helpful.

It's a very nice hotel. Amazing biews and walks. Staff is incredible. Always happy to assist. All our queries have sorted immediatly. My son has forgotten his special pillow and they were so kind to post it to us. That means a lot! Thank you Guys!

My dear friend, my dog and I have just spent the most wonderful relaxing weekend, in your amazing Hotel/Spa. It was all so very perfect for some respite time, for a very hard working friend. It was my treat for her but I got as much out of it as she did. We both felt so welcomed and well and truly spoilt. As did the dog!! Your location is so special and peaceful with fabulous views in all directions. Your staff, from top to bottom are all helpful, warm, friendly and a joy to be amongst. Nothing is too much trouble and everything done with a caring smile. Sessions with Hannah, having a treatment each, completely rounded the weekend off. She’s got a wonderful touch. The rooms and facilities are beautiful and such a treat to have the dog allowed in most areas. He enjoyed himself so much and loved the “breakfast” sausage ! All of the cuisine was simply superb we enjoyed breakfast and dinner. Beautifully cooked, prepared and presented food all the way around. Thank you so much for going above and beyond, to make our much anticipated, time with you so perfect. I would highly recommend you to my friends and more. We had a wonderful stay and part of making this was the fabulous hard working staff members. The bar and restaurant staff were particularly notable for us and you can see the dedication they give Soar Mill Cove. My Espresso Martini was one of the best I've had! We loved that the Dog wash outside is warm water, and the doggie treat on arrival was a lovely touch. The children really enjoyed the pool.  Everything was very clean and well maintained and the fridge in the room is really useful. The bath was wider than average for a luxurious soak and the Molton Brown products were a nice touch. Stunning views and lots of walks to satisfy our four legged friends and the children. Not far from Salcombe which was well worth a visit.

We have stayed at Soar Mill Cove Hotel many, many times. We wanted to write another review as an update. Yet again we had a wonderful stay. 2 fabulous walks despite the inclement weather this Easter. We thought the new bar area was very attractive, modern and relaxing. All the staff on duty were attentive and helpful and lovely. Our complimentary Jennie’s gin was much appreciated. Our room was comfortable, super clean, warm and perfect. We are really looking forward to many more return stays.

A true family run boutique hotel & spa in a very picturesque part of the Devon coast. Dogs are almost a priority. They are allowed in all rooms apart from the lounge. On arrival you will find a twin dog bowl complete with biscuit wrapped in cellophane placed on a special mat ready in your room. The room we had was delightful with an exceptional walk in shower. Patio doors opening onto your own little outside area with 2 chairs and table. The only negative for me was the firm mattress. I asked reception if they had mattress toppers, which they did, and they arranged for one to be put on our bed straight away. It did help although I feel a thicker one would have been a lot better. The dining room has tables designated for residents with their dog/s. The breakfast menu covered the usual full English but had two fish options as well. We were asked if Maisie (our beagle) would like a sausage, obviously yes. The sausage arrived on a plate specially for her - after I cut it up!! On Easter Sunday plenty of activity for the children which kept them occupied for a couple of hours. We did make use of the swimming pool which was spoilt because parents were allowing the children to jump in and make a big splash. An hour dedicated to adults only at some time during the day would be good. I had stayed here over 30 years ago and was delighted to find the family influence still existed. We will be back.

Dear all, We really would like to say a big thank you to everyone at the Soar Mill Hotel who made our stay super special. We enjoyed our breakfast and dinners very much. It’s our second time staying there and we love the warm welcome we always receive. We stayed at the Rosimary Rose Room, we love the sound of the birds hopping around the hedge and the sound of the stream flowing down the hill. A lovely specious and quiet room. Very relaxing. We hope to be back again soon. Christine and David Weekes

First of all it is a lovely hotel in a brilliant location with fantastic views. The room had a great view and was lovely inside too. Could not the staff on arrival were extremely friendly on arrival and gave us a great room. Love that you can just walk straight out of your room and go on a lovely walk. The massage treatment was also very good, however had very limited times over the 3 days we stayed. Was only available for one of the days. On our first night the kettle (very low quality kettles compare to everything else in the room) in the room tripped the electric, a simple matter of just hotel staff switching it back on. However none of the staff knew where the switch was. We were forced to move rooms which seemed unnecessary for such an easily fixed issue. The second room we had did not have as good of a view and was generally no where near as nice as the original room. The staff on that evening did not offer to help us to move or offer anything as a consultation for this inconvenience. It was resolved the next day but again we had to move back to the original room. The food/dining experience was a big disappointment and let the hotel down. The food was quite expensive so you would expect it to be very good. The first breakfast we had and the starters were lovely. The main courses were very disappointing and the fish was very dry and overcooked. On the second day the breakfast was uncooked and looked very anaemic. Every time we ate the was only 3-4 tables eating as well in a large restaurant, yet we were always sat so close and had no privacy and had to hear everyone’s conversation. I would recommend staying here but there are a lot better places to eat in salcombe.

A true hidden gem! A delightful hotel in an unspoilt cove on the South Devon coast. The rooms were well appointed and spacious with lovely views and the food exceptional. The surrounding coast and countryside is awesome too! .Looking forward to going back. You wont be disappointed!
