Carpenter Street Hotel

Breakfast was decent but worse coffee we have ever had (and we are not that picky with coffee). Hotel is close to the Lincoln Museum, but the area is a little sketchy. Hotel was just okay. We were only there for one night and I wouldn’t want to stay there any longer than that. Not the cleanest hotel but also, not the worst.

There was a smoke detector in the hallway or another room that was beeping on the 3rd floor that was going all night.

My impression of this property is that’s it’s ok for a one day stay same for it’s breakfast.

The bed was perfect!!!! Pillows were definitely comfortable!!!! The staff was always available and took care of the customers and their needs with a smile and was very pleasant!!! Would definitely stay again if i was in the area.

Staff was friendly and helpful. Parking was next to the hotel and well lit. The downtown area is quiet at night and the weekend. But, there are fun restaurants and tourist spots nearby.

Solid clean room, bathroom. No frills, supplied shower & soap products did the job. Be aware 1st floor windows look immediately at the parking. Did not experience the breakfast, so cannot comment but it looked sufficient.

Had to switch rooms after entering our original. Dried urine all over toilet and floor. Beds were made but when I pulled the covers back it looked dog hair all over the sheet.

The hotel was rated very highly yet the room was not clean and the walls were very thin. We were awakened by neighbors many times. There was also a lot of noise from helicopters taking off from the hospital next door. The elevator was also grimy. The sink in the room was brown. The breakfast was maybe the worst hotel breakfast I’ve ever seen. Everything was made of styrofoam. The coffee was awful. There were no hot eggs. The hot dish was biscuits & gravy, which didn't look good. The location was great. Everything else quite disappointing.

Conveniently located near the business district area of Springfield and centrally located not far from some of the major sights of Springfield, this hotel is an ideal place to stay while visiting Springfield. My room was clean, the bathroom was clean, the beds and pillows were softer than what I prefer but they were adequate. The amenities were good for the rate. They have a small fitness center which was adequate for my need. The complimentary breakfast had a decent variety to choose from. The customer service was good. My only issue was the room AC/ Heater control. When on heat setting, even at a low temp, the room got pretty hot. So the thermostat needed to be on Cool at a high temperature. Other than, no issues and I would stay here again.
