The Franklin

A small boutique hotel in a historic building right downtown. The rooms have high sealings and are very spacious. The design touches are lovely - nice art, open brick wall, heavy curtains... Your room is set up with a microwave and great teapot and coffee setup with local ground coffee which we enjoyed. Note: There is no staff on site so for all your needs you would need to call the concierge, who replies quite quickly. There is no luggage storage at this property. There is also no elevator but the stairs are not bad at all.

The hotel is the cleanest and most comfortable place to stay.Concierge Ryan was a great help to me navigating out some new things..The bed is amazingly comfortable and rooms and hotel is absolutely beautiful. Everything is there for your stay and a bonus.Coffee,tea and all that is needed to be so at home. I truly loved it so very much. I will certainly return next time and stay there again. Thank you for such a positive and wonderful experience with you. The staff is the best and warmest people I’ve ever met. Top 10 on my list of places to stay in St.John’s NL. Walk to the harbour and enjoy the scenery.Everything is close by. Signal Hill and Cape Spear is a great spot to catch the sunrises and sunsets. You will meet so many people at the top awaiting a glorious new day.

A brief synopsis of my stay at the Franklin room 305. Beautiful day, 25-30 degree weather in st.johns. Booked through air bnb, my parents booked the room around the corner as well, 301. Opened up the door at 5pm to check in to smeltering heat. The rooms are using heatpumps that have an AC function. The AC in our room didn't work, making the room unbearably hot. 26 on the thermostat with nothing to do about it. I called the number associated to the booking and was told somebody would take a look. If they came while we were out, look is all they did, because nothing got fixed. I popped open the front of the heatpump and the filters were completely clogged. If I had to guess they were never cleaned. I cleaned them, got a little air flow, and then the heat pump died altogether. Upon waking to hellish temperatures at 7am, I left the room to get some air, to find a pigeon in the stairwell. I've never left a bad review in my life and I don't enjoy typing this, but just a heads up to anyone travelling this summer that's looking for a cool and comfortable room, this ain't it.

Franklin - Great night Review of The Franklin Hotel Pending review Price was the best I found for St Johns at this time of year. I've stayed here before several times in the past. I think ownership has recently changed hands. I've never had an issue staying here. They text you a check in code. You don't get to meet any hotel staff, if that's, what you want. It's all done thru text. No waiting to check in is what I like. Room (303) was very clean. Free underground parking is awesome for downtown area. You get a parking -pass in your lock box. Bedding and towels good. Free coffee and cream. Appliances, cups , mugs etc. all looked new (2023). Felt like I was first to use the Kettle / Coffee Carafe. Mini fridge had cream in it, and we stored our own drinks there too. Local East Coast Glow (soaps & shampoo) is a great touch - said my wife. There is a selection of drinks, snacks in the hallway. Not sure how it worked, payment wise, so we did not touch it. No info how to use remote for heater, so could not adjust room temp. Didn't ruin our night. Close to many local eateries & pubs and 10 minutes walk from George street on the main drag. Did not hear a sound in the hotel for from the street. Wife absolutely loved it. That's the all important factor. Will be staying here again..... Hope they keep prices reasonable.
