Common Farm Motel

We had a warm welcome from the lady owner. Positives were - comfy bed, clean linen, fridge, microwave with cutlery and crockery, kettle, telly, map and takeaway / delivery menus. Downsides were dust and a less than immaculate bathroom with some Spindly spiders. Having said all that, the lady explained she’d been ill- so some dusty pou pouree is not a tragedy. We walked a mile and a half into Weston where there are two pubs as we couldn’t be bothered driving. It’s a nice village although a busy road to walk.

Two families stayed, using a twin, a double and a family room. Comfortable and clean. Family room perfect for gathering together. Facilities to eat in rooms with dishes, cutlery, fridge and microwave great. Lovely welcome. Good value for money. Half an hour to Alton Towers. Good eating places nearby. Would definitely use again.

This inexpensive motel has been good value when we have stayed in the past, but this February the service was unacceptable. During a cold spell, the single radiator had been turned off and we had a freezing first night. Making adjustments to the control made no difference and it was only when we opended the valce at the other end using a spanner that we were able to get some heat on the second night. The self service breakfast was sparse, no fresh milk, and the breakfast tray was not restocked on the second day leaving us with one two individual cereal packets and one old croissant. On leaving we left a phone charger behind, and despite the proprietor admitting that they had found it, he was not prepared to forward it to us even though we offered to pay, his reason being we could buy another on Ebay.

Freezing cold, inadequate heating set for 5pm to 9pm.Then no hot water in the morning.Breakfast, wouldn't bother unless you like dry food with uht milk.For 69.00 notes we would have slept better in the car.
