Kato Stalos Mare

In my experience, the worst thing about this hotel is the unfriendliness and the unprofessionality of the staff. The hotel is situated at the lovely Kato Stalos beach, a good thing, but most of the rooms have their entrance door facing the busy traffic behind the hotel. So did my room, and the noise was quite disturbing. We arrived very late in the evening (which we had informed about) but there were noone from the hotel to welcome us and check us in. We found our rooms with the help of our friend, who had arrived before us. The reception was most of the time unattended. We had to pay extra for the key to the safe (10 Euro pr week - was not a deposit). I asked for a room without traffic noise (in advance), but I did not get it. We were three people travelling together, and got rooms far from each other (even though we had told them in advance that we were a group). We stayed there at the end of the season, with few guests. The hostility from the management we experienced at this hotel, made us leave after a couple of nights. We would not recommend the hotel to anyone.

I had such a brilliant time here. Firstly, the staff are the most kindest, caring people I have met in my life! They went the extra mile to help with every need that I had. Next, the food was incredible - the most unique and delicious Greek flavors cooked to perfection (much better than the options in the main town!). The hotel was gorgeous and right on the beach. It also had a beautiful pool. The entire place was very clean and tidy. I would strongly recommend coming here, it is one of the best holidays I've had and I have done a lot of travelling around the world. I can't wait to come back. Thank you so much Nico. We had a late lunch. The food was good. The wine was drinkable.. Staff was correct and that was it. Nothing like the Greek hospitality you see everywhere on this beautiful island. Coming to Crete for 27 years and rarely I had this experience at a restaurant. No fruit or raki afterwards, paying for bread... All in all not worth to go back.
