The Ark Stanley Luxury Bed and Breakfast

Such a fantastic B&B and great hosts - loved our two night stay. Everything you could think of needing in a room was there - the little touches were appreciated. Hosts were really friendly and helpful - highly recommend staying here when visiting the north west.

The Ark at Stanley has to be one of the very best B&Bs we’ve stayed at. The quality of the rooms, the location, the breakfasts and the friendly helpful hosts Rhonda and Chris made our stay awesome, couldn’t fault a single thing. Highly recommend.

We arrived at The Ark and thought it was too good to be true. Wow, what a property and what a location. We were fortunate to stay in The Admiral Suite, a very spacious and comfortable piece of heaven with a few Swedish tokens, artistically on display. So comfortable was the bed, that it encouraged sleep and discouraged getting up early! The proximity to other scenic landmarks was awesome. Yes, Stanley is a small place, but so much to see and do. Our favorite was watching the tiny penguins coming home from a day spent at sea. When we met the hosts, there was no doubt that this would be one of our greatest Tasmania memories. They love to cook, which worked out so well, because we love to eat. A hearty yet astonishingly well balanced breakfast of color and substance complete with homemade yogurt, preserves, bread and a very skillful presentation of sautéed mushrooms and greenery. Various ripe fruits for the grabbing, and a brilliant eye opening coffee press. If you chat with them, you will quickly learn which one is from Sweden. He even had Cloudberry jam at the ready. We spent an enchanted two nights out of a 10-day sweep through Tas. This lodging and all that goes with it, were GRAND in every way.

Beautifully clean, gorgeous view, comfortable and quiet. The owner was lovely to deal with and very helpful. It is a short walk to all lovely Stanley has to offer. You really couldn’t ask for more. We’ll certainly be back next time we are there.

We enjoyed the top floor space which was huge, welcoming and comfortable. Our hosts were great. Great location. Delicious breakfast. Laundry was handy. Easy parking even with our Prado with bikes on the back! There is more to do in the area than we realized. Our only regret was not staying for longer.

Beautiful room with delightful friendly hosts. Everything was very clean and well presented with everything provided. Gorgeous homemade cooked and continental breakfast which was complimentary. I would thoroughly recommend this place in the pretty town of Stanley.

Thoroughly recommend The Ark. Our room (The Anderson) had views over the harbour and an outstanding en suite. Rhonda and Chris truly understand hospitality, providing lovely touches such as complementary wine and Tim Tams 🥳 The cooked breakfast they made (including preserves, yoghurt, relishes and bread) was expansive and delicious. This was such a lovely base for our first trip to stunning Stanley.

Well where do I start with this review? It was more than perfect. It wasn’t five star. It was six star.The view outside the bedroom, looking out upon the lake was absolutely tranquil and beautiful and add the backdrop of mountain out rock know as the Nut made this like something out of a movie. The accommodation was perfect and some, clean and modern and totally renovated, with a warm welcoming feeling. Could not fault it at all. Had plenty of beautiful little touches like a welcome bottle of wine, milk and Tim Tams in the fridge and chocolates . Our hosts were absolutely amazing providing a beautiful cooked breakfast. The town of Stanley was absolutely gorgeous and amazing quiet, quaint and rich in early Australian history. The only negative was that we only stayed one night, I’m planning to go back for a week. A true highlight of our 8 day Tasmania road trip.

We had a delightful stay for 3 nights in the beautifully decorated Anderson Suite which was very well appointed and had great water views . The cooked breakfast was very good and the continental breakfast was well catered for with all the preserves home made. The Ark is in a food location with a short walk into town. Rhonda and Christer (the hosts) were very friendly and helpful with advice on where to visit in the area. Rhonda had advised us to book early if we wanted to have dinner at the pub or Hurseys - very good advice as both were very busy. We could not fault our stay and would highly recommend The Ark to anyone looking for an excellent B & B in Stanley. We hope to visit again. Thank you Rhonda and Christer. Bill & Christa Anderson
