Batchelor Holiday Park

Batchelor
We came from Darwin where we stayed in a beautiful apartment which was serviced every day with a lovely kitchen, comfortable couch and dining area. There was a pool with lovely surrounds and a great bbq area. This cost us $230 per night for 2. Here at the Bachelor Holiday Park (5 stars) we stayed in a villa with a private bathroom. It was clean. The couch with a daggy cover over it was not comfortable to say the least, the dining table chairs are a bit wonky and have seen better days. Everything in this ”Villa” is outdated and very tired. Here we also paid $230 per night for 2. I know there are no international tourists here at the moment, but every caravan park between Adelaide and Darwin are pretty well booked out this includes cabins and caravan / powered sites. What Covid is doing to caravan parks is what poker machines did to pubs, turning the owners into very wealthy people. The main difference with the pubs and the caravan parks is that the pubs re-invested the money back into the pub and made them better places where you would want to go back to. This is certainly not the case with a LOT of caravan parks, there is no re-investing into the CP's. The attitude is, we'll clean it, we'll mow the grass, we'll water the grass (maybe) and that's it. It's all good and well Jim, to run (ride) around like a blue ****d fly but what are you doing to enhance a persons stay, particularly in those Villas (let's call them cabins), they're not villas by any stretch of the imagination. It's no wonder that during pre-Covid times so many people chose overseas destinations for their holidays instead of exploring Australia with all it's natural beauty. As far as cabins / cost go, there must be better places than this within the Litchfield area.
