GGuest UserThe cats are super cute, and I got to take some photos of them. Haha. The day we went, the owner was just getting a new fireplace, which was great for photos. There's a park near the B&B that the owner recommended. There were a lot of people square dancing at night. I loved it. They had an oxygen concentrator, so I wasn't afraid of altitude sickness, and the humidifier was really useful. I'll definitely come back next time. I hope the owner and his family become a big hit! I'll definitely stay here next time! ! ! Super comfortable!

The luckiest choice of my trip to Shangri-La was definitely Wufan Shanjian Light Luxury Homestay, and the biggest surprise was meeting the owner couple, a local ******* pair. The simplicity and enthusiasm unique to Tibetans in them filled the entire journey with warmth.
From the moment we landed, we were surrounded by their thoughtfulness: they not only took the initiative to pick us up at the high-speed railway station but also carefully reminded us not to rush to take a bath just after arriving on the plateau and to remember to turn on the oxygen concentrator at night. A family member traveling with us had a bit of altitude sickness, and the landlady Zhuoma immediately brought Coke and glucose to relieve the discomfort. In the evening, she specially brought warm yak milk and fresh grapes. Even the child kept saying that Aunt Zhuoma was as kind as family. The husband was simple and enthusiastic. When he saw that we had trouble parking, he immediately helped park the car without hesitation, so we didn't have to worry at all. When we wanted to find delicious skewers or plan the route around Napahai, they could always give the most authentic suggestions and even recommend reliable stores, which were more useful than the strategies we made.
The environment of the homestay is impeccable. As a person with a bit of obsessive-compulsive disorder about cleanliness, the cleanliness here completely exceeded expectations - the rooms are bright and tidy, the bed sheets and quilt covers have no peculiar smell at all, and even the bathroom is cleaned spotlessly. The facilities are also very considerate, with full-house floor heating and smart devices. The oxygen concentrator by the bed can automatically adjust the oxygen concentration, completely solving the worry about sleeping on the plateau. What's more surprising is that the location is in the center of the ancient town, only a three-minute walk to the prayer wheel, making it very convenient for shopping and dining.
During the few days staying here, I was moved by the details every day: free down jackets and umbrellas, pre-prepared moisturizing masks, hot breakfast in the morning, and even after leaving, when we found that we had forgotten something, the boss would carefully send it back. This kind of warmth that is not family but better than family made the beauty of Shangri-La more concrete. Next time I come, I will definitely stay here again!

GGuest UserWe had an absolutely wonderful stay and cannot recommend this place enough! From start to finish, everything was perfect. The view from our window was simply breathtaking.
Traveling with children can be tricky when it comes to food, but the hosts went out of their way to make us feel welcome. They specially prepared a delicious dinner and breakfast dish that wasn’t even on the menu, ensuring it was non-spicy so my kids could enjoy it. It’s those thoughtful, personal touches that make a stay memorable.

The location is pretty good, a very short walk to the temple, the center of all the happenings in the old town / 古城
Room is surprisingly quite warm despite tiny air gaps in the half window half door thing with just the floor heating (note: no air conditioning as far as I could tell, despite the listing saying so)
There's de/humidifier in the room but had no idea how to operate it lol (didn't ask because I don't need it)
Bath towel isn't provided by default, but they will provide if needed (maybe they don't provide because it's not advised to shower anw when you just arrive in high altitude place, idk)
There's a washing machine if you ask. It's kinda hidden in their service room. No dryer, so have to air dry. They have a place to air dry but honestly it's hard to get it fully dry in certain seasons (it rains a lot when I was there).
They have a chonky cat that will bother you (good or bad depends on your pref). It's not clawed tho so beware
The not so good:
Toilet bowl is basic, no bidet, no warmer
I suspect I got upgraded to a different room (the owner didn't say anything but the room is different from the one I booked). Window is facing courtyard, so there's no privacy if you leave the curtain open.
Quilt is kinda small for 2 ppl (it's only slightly wider than the mattress). I'm solo so I'm ok but duos beware
Mattress is on the firmer side, which I actually prefer, but just take note for those who prefer soft ones
The steps up is kinda steep and narrow so might not be suitable for older folks. The owner helped to carry my luggage upstairs when I arrived but if you leave in the morning, they might not be around yet so you may need to bring your luggage down yourselves.
The way to the second floor is not fully sheltered so it's kinda annoying if it rains

GGuest UserWe book for 2 night stay here and extend for one more night. We really love the ambient of the hotel. They had a small beautiful yard/ garden welcoming you to the hotel. You even get free flow of mineral water and can borrow their cowboy hats. Haha
Our room comes with one stand heater, warm blanket and air conditioner ( can set until 30•C). Enough to warm both of us. Shangrila is quite cold compared to other city we visited in Yunan. The location really strategic. Walking distance to East gate of Dukezong City where scenic bus station located and not far from Dufeng Prayer Wheel. If you take bus from Tina, the first stop at Shangri-La city only walking distance to the hotel. If you take DiDi, the car can send you to the hotel without much walking. Within 500m, you can find 4 halal restaurants. If you want to go to Xiangyang farm product market (you can find halal bakery here) it’s just 1 km walk. Along the walk, you can find a local park with clear water and beautiful view.
Owner very helpful. Despite the language barrier, he tried all he can to help us. We planned to go to Balagezong on second day but really clueless since not much information on the internet. Mostly people went there via travel agency. With his help, we manage to secure ticket to the national park. He and his wife even walk us to the bus station where we need to catch the bus the next early morning.
On the last day here, owner even offered to send us to the railway station. On the way to the station, he stopped by a ******* restaurant and get us some delicious warm yak milk and ghee tea (we should try earlier. This one very delicious 🤤). That’s really generous of him. If we were coming back to Shangrila again, we would book this hotel again without doubt.

CChristine KortewegWe (a family of four) had a lovely stay in Tingtao Inn. The guesthouse is situated in Walnut Grove and is surrounded by a garden with flowers and fruit and walnut trees. It is a very quiet place. All you can hear, is the sound of the roaring river and the crickets. All the meals are freshly prepared by the family with fresh vegetables and fruits from their garden. Even meat (chicken, porc), fish and eggs are from their own farm. The rooms are relatively big, new and clean and most of the rooms have great views on the impressive mountain range across the river. The family that runs the guesthouse is very friendly and can organize trips and transport for you and, on some days, can even accompany you during hikes. We did four unforgettable trips in the surroundings. One hike following the upper trail of the Tiger Leaping Gorge with beautiful views of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain and passing several waterfalls. Another hike directly from their house along the Ray of Sunshine trail and down to the river at the middle gorge (tiger leaping stone) with fantastics views of the turbulent water and rocks in the water that can be reached via a suspension bridge. A third hike, also from near the house, took us to the lower gorge all the way down to the water level again with amazing views of the gorge. During our hike on this short but steep trail we did not meet a single other person. We also visited Baishuitai with its colorful limestone terraces.
To experience the peace and quietness of this place, the freshly prepared and tasty food, and the kindness of the family, it is really worthwhile to stay at Tingtao (”listen to the waves”) for several days. Our children did not want to leave and still talk about our wonderful time there.

GGuest UserThe room had a unique character and underfloor heating, which kept it very warm. Most importantly, the landlady was incredibly, incredibly kind. My partner and I even felt a bit guilty because she went out of her way to drive us a long distance, late at night and in the afternoon, when we left things behind! A huge thank you to the landlady; we had a wonderful time in Shangri-La this trip. If my partner and I come back, we'll definitely stay here again.

GGuest UserThis guesthouse boasts an unbeatable location in the heart of Middle Tiger Leaping Gorge. The East Ring Road is right outside, leading directly to Lower Tiger Leaping Gorge, and further along the same road, you can reach Haba Snow Mountain and Baishuitai. Jomah Guesthouse faces Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, is backed by Haba Snow Mountain, and has the turquoise Jinsha River flowing at its feet – truly breathtaking views!
The owner is a retired teacher, and his wife, Jomah, is a warm and genuine ******* woman who is incredibly attentive to guests. I stayed in a clean and tidy wooden mountain-view room, each with its own small balcony. Opening the window to see the green mountains and the river instantly lifted my spirits. The second-floor restaurant also has a large balcony adorned with flowers, making it super pleasant for stargazing and chatting at night.
Be sure to try their local stewed free-range chicken – it's uniquely delicious. The yak meat buns and milk dregs egg rolls are also fantastic. This is the most comfortable guesthouse I've stayed at in Tiger Leaping Gorge, and the experience was exceptional. I highly recommend everyone to stay here!

EEloise LangoulantVery convenient for hikers in the gorge. This is the end of the hiking route and very close to where the buses leave for Lijiang and Shangri-la (you can buy bus tickets at Tina's). There is a restaurant on site serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, with vegetarian options, and selling water, snacks and beers. The views are incredible (as they are everywhere in the gorge). The room was simple but clean and comfortable. We had a lovely beer on the roof to celebrate our hike before a delicious dinner.
