"Everything was great. Its close proximity to the train station makes it perfect for those on a tight schedule. The luggage storage service was incredibly convenient. We managed to explore Birmingham in a single day, dropping off our bags early in the morning and picking them up in the evening before catching our train to the next city. It made the whole experience simple and efficient."

"After a brutal time in hospital I was discharged. I wanted a night to rest recover and relax. Upon arrival I was told that work was being carried out and i can expect to hear noise from 9am. This was very disappointing to be told when checking in. It would have been preferred to been informed before I had parted with any money. I wasn’t given an option to cancel my booking without paying the charge of the full room . The room was not fully cleaned and there was some orangey oil looking spills left from the previous is booking. The housekeeping had not cleaned it up and placed towels in front of the spill in the wardrobe. This was disgusting. The towels were not fresh and had hair and bits of debris over it. I had gone to the shop and upon arrival the night reception wouldn’t let me in without declaring my name and room number due to security (understandable). But this infringed on my safety as other people were loitering outside the hotel and Could hear everything. A couple walked in following behind me into the hotel and I declared to the reception I didn’t know them. This made me feel very uncomfortable, as human trafficking is on the rise, I think better methods of verification can be found that is safe for the hotel and guests. After being woken up at 9am from the workers, I tried to get some more sleep. The housekeeping lady charged into the room without knocking at 11:30am when I had not checked out and i was due to check out at 12pm. This was a massive shock and sent me into a panic attack. She left and then I could hear her laughing and joking with the other housekeeping outside of the room. My stress and distress was exacerbated as I am unable to lock my room door from inside which means people can still enter if the pin is known or if they have a keycard. I have stayed here once before and it was nice but this time was awful. The reception were lovely though. My right to privacy and safety was completely disregarded through negligence, improper training and inappropriate conduct. I am absolutely outraged to say the least. I paid to arrive for a relaxing time…. Only to leave more stressed than I arrived."

"The hotel's location is great for museums and libraries, but getting there from the train station with luggage can be tough. It's quite a walk, the roads aren't easy to navigate, and it's mostly uphill, which is tiring. We ended up taking a taxi when we departed. The facilities and Wi-Fi at the Holiday Inn were quite good, and children received plenty of gifts upon check-in. However, the hotel's breakfast simply doesn't compare to what you'd find in hotels in other countries. I suppose that's just British cuisine for you."

"Unfortunately other than its location this hotel has nothing good going for it. There was a queue when I got there, strange for that time - 20:30ish. The lift was dark and depressing, the room even more so. There was an awful smell like vomit lingering in the room. The floor looked unclean. The bathroom floor was the same and the corners were filthy. I didn’t feel clean being in the room. The tv was good as it was a smart tv so I watched what I wanted. The walls are paper thin and I could hear every noise and things being plugged into the sockets on the wall. The doors banged shut and this was annoying all night. The wallpaper was very old and was covered in layers of paint. There is no air con, the heating was on when I entered The bed was the worst thing I have ever slept on. The springs were poking me all night long, I barely slept. There was no hairdryer either so I didn’t use the shower. If your on a super tight budget sta here but I’m sure you can find airbnb cheaper than this."

"Great location for canals and restaurants. Room was extremely clean, bathroom felt fresh. Breakfast buffet was simple, providing selections of cooked, cereals and breads. Plenty of coffee options and juice."

"No air con but just a fan in the room. Shower took 10 mins for hot water. Tap control on shower didn’t work. Won’t stay here again. Breakfast was short on supplies and tables were slow to be cleared."

"Good location but there is a nightclub nearby. It was too noisy when we opened the window. The cooler air cond) was out of order. Hotel staff Romila was very helpful. She arranged another room with cooler working properly. Therefore, we can close all the window to reduce the noise and can have better sleep."

"The room is spacious especially if you have luggage to open. Clean and comfortable bed. Breakfast is good. Location wise, walkable to Birmingham New Street train station given you don’t have big heavy luggage. Although I can hear the people outside but it’s not really bad. You can ask for some essentials if you forgot yours, available at the reception. The staff were nice and accommodating."

"Very disappointed when we arrived at 14.30 on Friday to be told it would cost us £10 if we wanted to checkin before 15.00. Even though I had joined the Ibis membership scheme ALL.com on Tuesday and my mate who was sharing the twin room has been a member for over 3 years. The reception was a real “job’s worth” and said as the booking was in my name this didn’t count and insisted on trying to charge us £10 to boo in 30 minutes early. Even though when I signed up to the scheme in Bristol on Tuesday we were allowed to book in at 1 o’clock 🤷🏽♂️ Other than that, it was OK, not great"

"it was lovely. very clean. the room was small but we appreciated it. i had the room with nowindow but i don’t think that was a problem. everything was really fresh. only thing i didnt like was that the bathroom was a wet room so its really difficult to shower without soaking up the sink and toilet and whole room really"
