Satisfied, clean and hygienic

I have just returned from a 4 night stay and it was excellent. Everything is perfect, and Valida makes sure all her guests have the best experience. Just a 5 minute walk from the old town, the guesthouse is clean, warm and very welcoming. I had room number 1 and it was everything I needed, as a solo traveller. Comfy bed, clean bathroom, good shower, storage space, big TV and complementary tea/coffee. The first time I met Valida she invited me for coffee and we talked for a while about how she had the guesthouse, a little about Sarajevo, and she was very warm, friendly and courteous. Many hotels can make you feel like a customer, but Valida makes you feel like a friend, and that is what makes this place so good. Sarajevo is a great city, and I will definitely come back, and when I do, I will certainly stay at Halvat Guesthouse. There was only 1 other guest on Saturday, and when I left, he very kindly gave me a lift to the airport, and that just sums up the whole experience with this guesthouse - kindness and hospitality.

Hotel Halvat was incredible, and I will be staying here again. Valida, the owner, is extremely kind, responsive to any communication you might have, makes great food, and most importantly is a very fun local person who can tell you all that you need to know.

The highlight of our trip to Bosnia and Herzegovina was staying at this hotel. The rooms and every part of the hotel were impeccably clean. Every morning, we were greeted with positive energy and a friendly smile by Valida, who is truly an exemplary manager. She also surprised us with different breakfast varieties each morning. We will miss the carefully prepared breakfasts. If we find ourselves in Bosnia and Herzegovina again, or for anyone planning a visit, we would recommend this hotel without hesitation. Finding yourself in Sarajevo is your first correct decision. Wonderful place. Your next best decision is to stay at Hotel Halvat. Firstly, the location is perfect being in close walking proximity to all the sights but far enough away from any possible street noise allowing for extremely peaceful nights. The real winner in Valida. A perfect hostess presenting her accommodation in a pleasant welcoming manner and rewarding you a breakfast fitting of a restaurant. Having traveled extensively throughout Europe I can without any hesitation thoroughly recommend Valida and Hotel Halvat for your next choice of accommodation when next in Sarajevo. We had a wonderful 4 night stay at the beautiful Halvat Guesthouse. From the moment we arrived we received a lovely warm welcome from our landlady Valida - she was so friendly and full of advice about the local area that she made us feel right at home. Our room had every amenity, was beautifully decorated and the bed was really comfy. The guest house was right in the old town and in easy walking distance from all the local sites, restaurants and transport. Valida's breakfasts were absolutely amazing, with so much choice including homemade baked goods, omelettes and pancakes, fruit salads and rice pudding (our favourite) - and lots of good Bosnian coffee. Finally, the cherry on the cake was Valida herself. We really felt that we arrived as strangers and left as friends. She is genuinely passionate about her guest house and making sure her guests have a wonderful stay. We can't wait to be back in Sarajevo and to stay here again. Hvala Valida!

I can't say enough good things about Halvat. The place is adorable. Valida is the sweetest host. She's very kind and she's an excellent cook. The rooms are comfortable and beautifully decorated. When I go to Sarajevo, I will always choose Halvat.

I had a fantastic experience during my 6 day stay at Halvat Hotel. The hotel owner, Valida, was very kind and helpful. It was a very pleasant surprise to find out that she is also a tour guide! Location is great if you plan to spend a lot or daily time in or around the Baščaršija area and Ferhadija street. The room was well maintained and clean. Simple and tidy. Towels were provided. Bathroom showed no signs of water damage or anything nasty. No dust, everything was in good order. Since my stay was during the off season there isn't much I can say about the complimentary breakfast that would be normally provided during the high tourist season. Nor can I determine the noise level, but my stay was quite peaceful. From the outside environment, it appeared that this part of the city was relatively quiet (minimal disturbing traffic and ambiance). Clothes are washed else where, but there are offers available depending on the load size. Price was reasonable. Wi-fi and air-conditioning are also provided. If you are traveling solo or to the country for the first time (like me), then I highly recommend it. The owners are incredibly thoughtful and patient who add a very human element to the whole experience. I will be staying there again if ever given another opportunity to visit Sarajevo.

This is a great place to stay if you wanted to be treated like an honored guest instead of like a number. Valida is easily one of the best hostesses I have encountered. She is super friendly and hospitable. She offered us Bosnian coffee every time we saw her, and we gladly accepted every time! The rooms are very comfortable. The a/c is great. Breakfast is spectacular and included freshly-made omelettes. It was a real treat to stay here, and I will definitely stay here again if I return to Sarajevo.

In my mind, this is the perfect kind of guesthouse. Locally owned and operated. Affordable, even for a solo traveller in o sux week tour of The Balkans. Small so you feel like you are a guest, not a number. Valida and Mumois treat you like family. Rooms are spacious, immaculate, nicely decorated and with EVERYTHING you require for a pleasant and comfortable stay, including many things that other hosts sometimes forget like good reading lights, and extra hooks to hang things. Wifi worked perfectly for everything, including streaming a movie. You may choose breakfast and if you do you won’t require lunch with plenty of delicious, healthy options. The location is ideal, close to everything you will need as a tourist. Now I’m spoiled as really, this accommodation is perfect.

Valida, the hostess, made us an excellent breakfast including a veggie omelette which was wonderful as veggies seem hard to get. Room 24 was comfortable and quiet with the windows closed and the AC on. Close to the old town without being in the fray.

First time in Sarajevo and we had a great stay at Halvat Guesthouse. The hosts Valida and Mumo were so welcoming and gave us plenty of good recommendations for us to make the most of our stay. Rooms are clean and spacious. We travelled by plane and Mumo's airport pickup was a breeze and took the hassle out of arriving in a new city. Breakfast was amazing as well.

Were guests here at Valida for the second time, it's almost like visiting family, we were warmly welcomed ❤️ Very nice, modern, spacious rooms, breakfast leaves nothing to be desired! We were able to park our motorcycles in a locked garage. The location is also perfect, approx. 300 meters to Sarajevo Old Town but no noise pollution in the room! Stayed here in Feb-March and it was excellent. Host was lovely and full of fun stories, great location near the Old Town and the yellow Fort panoramic viewpoint of the city. Delicious homemade breakfasts and good local recommendations from the host. Thank you! Hope to see you again soon x
