The Stratford Park Hotel & Golf Club

We were made to feel so welcome from the moment we walked into reception. We bid for our stay as part of charity auction. The owners of Stratford park had donated a golf break of a night dinner, bed and breakfast and two rounds of golf in aid of Primrose Hospice. The junior suite is a lovely room, cozy and relaxing with luxury touches. Maz, the restaurant manager was attentive and looked after our every need. He gave great recommendations for food and wine and all was delicious. Golf - lovely course with wide fairways. Again friendly service from all. My challenge was to get over the water on 17th. I didn’t succeed so I will definitely go back.

We spent one night here. The Hotel is in a small village just outside Stratford. There is not much outside space other than parking. A warm welcome at Reception and felt totally safe with the COVID arrangements. The reception area was very clean as was our room (No.1 on the. ground floor). Indeed you would have thought it was a brand new room. The facilities in the room were excellent. Large TV with Movie channels. The walk-in shower was very clean. We ate in the Saddles Bar and the food was excellent. The breakfast service was great and the food was top quality. I have tried to find something to find fault with but I can't. Even the price was very reasonable.

There are many advantages: breakfast is absolutely amazing, in addition to the big road of milk bread and fruit coffee, the hotel offers a freshly prepared breakfast. A menu is attached to the picture. I am full of full English Breakfast, full of fullness, but the heat is very high! At the same time, there is a capsule coffee machine on the tea table, which can be brought back to the room to drink. The room is large, there is apple TV available, and the facilities are very good. Disadvantages: Of course, the hotel is a villa change, so there is no elevator inside, there are heavy boxes of their own attention. In addition, although there is a hair dryer, there is no electric kettle, and you need to bring your own. And a little distance from the city center (8 minutes), so buy something to go a little.

The food is primarily Mexican but we decided to go for the Specials. I'm sure the Mexican meals would have been great because the 'traditional' meal we chose was amazing! Highly recommend the cottage pie (the twist of lemon lifted the whole dish) & the chef came out to check we were enjoying the meal. The room we are staying is clean, crisp and exactly what we needed. We spend many weekends travelling around the UK &, we would happily return here. (My food photo does not do it justice as we'd enjoyed most of it before I took the photo).
DoubleTree by Hilton Stratford Upon Avon

We stayed there two nights and there were 4 of us thus two, Deluxe rooms were booked. Absolutely nothing, except the size, was anywhere near Deluxe. The seats of the bar chairs were stained badly. The fridge in the room was empty, not even a bottle of water. When I asked if they had forgotten to fill it, the receptionist, totally disinterested, answered that they didn’t do that anymore and if we wanted a bottle of water, we had to ask for it at the reception. It was free but only on request. The second day we returned from a long day out to find the room and bed not made up and the bathroom exactly as we had left it.. again at the reception, where I was told that that also was only on request. We have stayed in very many hotels this and also in past years but this was just totally at the bottom of the list even though it was one of the most expensive. €1,000 for two nights. There were no lights on the dark path around the hotel. All in all a discrace all round for any hotel, not to mind a, so called luxury hotel… terrible. Booking.com only mentions our favorable comments and that were ..Good beds and pillows and perfect location. Had I read any of the more honest reactions, I would never have chosen this hotel. Hospitality was totally lacking, just as the honesty on the Booking.com site. Sad after many years of loyal use and satisfaction.. very disappointed this year !
Stratford Manor Hotel

The hotel is generally good and the staff are attentive, but we would suggest avoiding the restaurant.  The hotel doesn't warrant a 4* with areas showing wear and tear such as water-damaged wood, mouldy seal in the bathroom, broken window locks, etc.  Our room was not ready when we arrived, so we were given a drinks voucher. After being advised our room was ready, we arrived at the room to find the maid still cleaning the room. The room included basic tea and coffee facilities and toiletries.  The pool/spa is limited and has a cold pool, a steam room, a sauna, and a gym.  We had booked into the restaurant for an evening meal, but when we arrived there was a table complaining about the food. They had sent their food back to the kitchen twice, and the staff were suggesting they send it back again. They walked out of the restaurant. Based on this, we thought we would order something that was pretty safe, so we ordered a burger and a chicken. However, the meat tasted cheap and of poor quality. The restaurant is charging gastro prices, but the quality is nothing better than Wetherspoons or worse. Again, the puddings were basic, with a vegan coconut ice cream that had an odd texture to it and a sticky toffee pudding that was no better than a cheap microwave pud. In our opinion, the staff were inappropriately dressed, with one waitress having such a short skirt that every time she moved you got to see more than you wanted. The bar staff were assisting in the restaurant, and one barman was dressed in hip-style jeans, which kept falling down. Although all very attentive and polite, it seemed that the hotel as a whole had very limited staff, with everyone just mucking in.  The breakfast was not much better than our evening meal. We arrived at 9.30am to find the milk, pastries, hot water, etc. had run dry. There was a selection of hot food, but once again the meat tasted cheap. The main waitress was incredibly young and either didn't communicate or spoke so incredibly quietly that you could not hear what she said.  At check out, we were not asked how our stay had been, and we felt that everything was done to avoid such communication.
