We had a great stay at the Highland Hotel. Our room was comfortable and spacious. Walk in shower with plenty of hot water. Views from the window were lovely. Food was plentiful and hot. Staff friendly and welcoming providing a great service.

The hotel is in Nice location and that is about all the service was terrible.Never had our room cleaned once while we were there for four nights Food was cold every single night. The only good food was breakfast. They told us the problems were all caused by a shortage of staff.

While the hotel rooms themselves were OK (basic and clean) and good enough value for what we paid, we were very disappointed in the hotels accessibility. All 4 of us have mobility and health issues and before booking we checked accessibility of rooms and were told that all rooms were accessible by a lift. Yes, there is a lift to the first floor but our rooms were up 2 small flights of stairs (11 steps total). One of our party almost fell coming down them, and it took 2 of us to assist her in doing so. When complaining to the manager, we were told it was not their problem we have mobility issues and there was no note on our booking that we could not manage steps. The main issue was their member of staff giving incorrect information about the accessibility of their rooms We also tried to have a meal in the hotel to be advised that they were fully booked. We were not advised on booking in that we needed to book evening meal in advance. When mentioned to manager, her response was she was giving her staff an 'easy night' because not every guest would want to book in for a meal (obviously staff come before guests in this hotel) While I appreciate that unexpected issues with mobililty can happen anywhere - the attitude of this hotel manager implied that the problem was not theirs but ours for being disabled. Had we been told that some rooms had steps to them, then we would have booked elsewhere to ensure we had somewhere suitable. Would not recommend to anyone with mobility issues who cannot manage steps if required

The most fantastic location and view from the residents lounge and breakfast area. Extremely well looked after by Fiona who was also a fab guide with brilliant in-depth knowledge of places to see in the Highlands. Great brekkie’s as well !!

Brilliant stay at this hotel, food was decent (vegetarian) and rooms were good. Staff were really helpful, especially the night porter. Some small things could make this hotel outstanding, like a TV in the lounge with the cinema style seating.

Visited on a Shearings trip to Inverness was sceptical after reading previous reviews but the hotel was very comfortable maybe a bit dated but the food and the cleanliness was exceptional for the money we paid. I think people expect 5* for 2* prices don't be put off by moaning Minnie's.

We arrived at dark and on first impression we were a bit unsure. The exterior would once have been stunning and could now do with a refresh, but it didn't put us off our stay. Once we checked in we headed to our room on 1st floor. It was one of the older styles that hadn't been updated, however, everything worked. Radiators with central heating, windows that opened, tv worked, shower and bath both hot with great pressure. We really couldn't fault the room, yes it was basic, but it was clean, comfortable and had all we needed for our stay. Breakfast was hot every day too, cereals, bread/toast, sausage, bacon, beans, hash browns, tomatoes, mushrooms, scrambled eggs and potato scones. Tea, coffee and juice are self serve. Bar could have been better stocked at times as certain draft drinks were off, but we found an alternative and it was fine. We brought in a takeaway and staff kindly provided us with cutlery and plates for our room which made it so much easier. For the price we paid, booking fairly last minute and Easter holiday we couldn't grumble too much. Pleasantly surprised and would return. Go with an open mind and enjoy the surroundings.

This would once have been a stately Victorian spa town hotel, but its glory has now faded. The downstairs is good, with a very Scottish clan theme, and large impressive rooms. My bedroom was a small double with an irrelevant cheap print as token decoration. This had nothing to do with Scotland, so a missed opportunity to do something less generic. The shower had very poor water pressure and both soap dispensers were empty. A half inch gap under the door lets light in, so the room is never dark as the lights in the corridor are on all night. Breakfast was included in the price and it was okay. Four staff mainly stood around talking. One in particular did not move for the half hour I was breakfasting. The hotel survives on coach parties so if you get your timing wrong the restaurant is very busy. Tea and coffee is in jugs on one table, which causes a pinch point. Adding another table would remove this. Not rocket science. The big problem is that the front door is locked at 9 p.m. I was coming back at 11, and told reception. I was assured that if I called the number given the night porter would let me in. She said that she would advise him. I arrived at 11 and called four times. I had to tap on the glass with my key. Eventually, after 20 minutes in near zero temperatures, this roused someone, not the porter, who let me in. This gentleman is connected to the hotel and he apologised genuinely, and again when I bumped into him the next day. In my frozen state I was going to leave a one star review but, largely thanks to this chap, I have thawed a little. Generally I got the impression that this hotel did not have a manager.
