Never again. The Wessex Hotel is very dated, our room 202 was dusty, dirty and the decor needs an overhaul. We only stayed for one night and was on a tight schedule so to complain was always going to be when we left the next day. the breakfast in the morning started well, however when helping ourselves to bread to toast we found that the bread had mould on it (Pic attached). We made our exit after collecting our belongings from the room, to find nobody at the reception so dropped the key and left. I wrote an email to the Hotel the same day. I had a reply from the obnoxious manager a couple of days later making the usual statement of "You should of complained during our stay and we would of rectified the issues" A complaint is a complaint no matter when we choose to air our concerns, as a manager of the Hotel and someone who insists that checks are carried out daily is complete and utter rubbish, as you clearly have problems that have been there for some time. I will never return and urge anyone I know to seek alternative accommodation.

Stayed here with my mum as part of a GB Tours coach trip, the staff were all lovely and doing their absolute best despite the weather being hot. Unfortunately I was unable to open the window in our room but I'm not sure it would have helped cool it down much as the outside temperature was in the 30s but reception were able to provide a fan. I did suggest that they need to invest in some aircon, at least in the communal areas. The toilets are separate in this hotel which is a little quirky. I found the shower adequate but my mum was unable to use it due to a safety concern of there not being any handrails on the wall, which again I raised with a member of staff. The food was good with plenty of choices however we didn't fancy any of the main course choices on our second night but they were happy to make us both cheese omelettes which came with lots of salad and vegetables on the side and the coffee was lovely, only reason we didn't drink more of it was because of the heatwave. Bar prices were reasonable too. Didn't sleep particularly well but this was purely down to our trip happening during some exceptionally warm temperatures. A few touches here and there would make this a great value hotel and I would certainly consider staying here again if I was visiting Somerset

This hotel is a disgrace! We arrived at 5 pm, changed and then went out. Came back late. I didn't feel happy in this room but my husband kept saying 'It's ok we are only here for 2 nights'. Next morning we were out early and back late. Sunday morning I looked around our room - it was dreadful. Very, very dated. Thick dust in the bathroom, which removed with a tissue, door lock was broken, bathroom socket didn't work, rust in the bath, the wood around the window was rotting and paint peeling off, the window ledge was dirty. The worst was the thick layer of dust on the wide skirting board. This room had not been cleaned for a long time. I spoke to the Manager who looked at the room and agreed with me but said it was my fault for not complaining earlier. No - it is you that should never have let this room, in this condition for £100 per night! This hotel needs a complete refurbishment and some good cleaning practices. I would NEVER stay there again. Sadly we didn't take any photos.

Lovely staff members and warm welcome from the guy working front desk. He was very well informed of the area. Nice and clean room, soft bed and nice view of the start of the village.

We stayed at the Wessex Hotel for a midweek break. Our experience at check in was pleasant, the lady who checked us in was polite and informative with good local knowledge ( this was our first visit to the area) and made us feel at ease. Our room was equipped with the basic items required for our stay , tea and coffee , flat screen tv etc. We found the room to be well kept and clean. Breakfast was also enjoyable and hot. For what we paid we really can't complain, a nice 3 star Hotel. Would certainly recommended.

We came over from the states for the summer solstice in Glastonbury, we needed a place that could room 6 of us The Wessex hotel was the place. Upon arrival we were greeted by a wonderful staff member who checked us in to our family and triple room. The rooms were super clean and welcoming, the beds were comfortable and clean, tea and coffee and a wonderful book about Somerset. All along the corridors were photos of the area, this was a wonderful feature. The staff members on the front desk were helping with directions to the bus stop so we could get to Glastonbury. Nothing was trouble for the staff members, as it was the middle of summer fans were provided on request. The hotel is in a wonderful location, everything is close by. The staff here do a fantastic job making the place look amazing and clean. Breakfast was amazing and even provided kids serving for my 3, 5 and 9 year. Breakfast staff all served with a smile and wonderful service. Definitely will be staying here again. Affordable and friendly welcoming staff!!

Had a wonderful time at The Wessex Hotel. Found the hotel to be clean and comfortable. With some lovely touches in the public areas. Our room was extremely inviting and i slept like a baby. Had all the things you need to have a pleasant stay. Breakfast was delicious and offered a wide variety of choice. Restaurant staff were a delight. The location is perfect to explore the local area with so many places just a stones throw away. Places like Glastonbury, Wells and Cheddar are so easy to get to. Plus with a spot of shopping at clarks village. Perfect base. Will definitely return.

Noisy, dirty room. Floor not vacuumed with sweet wrapper and clothing tags present. Over bath shower did not work. But bath filled up quickly. Restaurant not available due to private function with no warning. Breakfast was delicious, bathroom and bedding was clean.

Parking available, but they had a ballroom function over the easter weekend so car park pretty full. My room 124 had a problem with hot water in shower. Kept on going cold and not working correctly. Did complain to staff following morning who kindly offered to move us to another room. The bed wasn't very comfortable tbh. There is a mini gym there with basic equipment and it did the job. Didn't try breakfast as this was not included in the price. Overall i would rate it as not too bad and will probably stay again if the price is right. Staff were friendly and helpful which helps a lot. 24/7 reception open.
