The Townhouse Sutton

I stayed here for one night during a work trip. On arrival, the car park says 'pay and display', but for the first day you can get a refund in the hotel with a purchase. However, when I went to check in, I questioned this and the receptionist said that you did not have to pay if you were staying there, it was just for people visiting the restaurant. There is no where that states this on the signage so I'm sure that many customers using the hotel end up paying for parking without needing to! The receptionist was really lovely on arrival, but stated that the card reader to get upstairs to access the rooms was temperamental so we may need her help getting through. She was very friendly and willing to help us. When I arrived in my room I was pleasantly surprised as it was nicely laid out, with a decent size bathroom including a bath. Plenty of tea and coffee provided with two packets of biscuits and lots of lovely shower/bath soaps to use. However, as I went into the bathroom there was a large step that I obviously did not expect! So I tripped over that, and then saw the sign saying 'mind the step!'. The sign for this was on the bathroom door, which was open, so was not in my eye line until after I'd already fallen down it! After a long day I wanted to shower and make use of the lovely soap provided. I saw the temperature was on the lowest setting (less than 20c) which I thought was odd, I usually have it on at least 38c, so the thought of 20c would be very chilly to most! However, I soon realised that despite how much you turned the temperature down, it made no difference and the water was so scalding that I could not physically stand under it. To overcome this, I ran a bath with the scalding water and left it for over half an hour to cool down! There were several marks in the bath but I had no other option at this point. Whilst I waited, I thought I'd make a cup of tea. I noticed that the kettle was still half full from the previous customers, so I poured it down the sink and noticed several pieces of black limescale come out with the old water! No matter how much I tried to rinse it out with water, it would not come off so I was not even able to have a hot drink as I did not feel comfortable drinking water from that kettle. After my (very late) bath I headed to bed but the room was incredibly cold. The window was wide open when I arrived in my room, which wasn't an issue in itself but after I closed it there was still a cold draft coming through it. I ended up sleeping in my t-shirt and jumper with the duvet wrapped around me as much as possible! So I can't say it was a great sleep either. I went down to check out and perhaps ask about breakfast. There was a different receptionist that morning who was less friendly than the one from the previous day, she gave the impression she was too busy to answer my questions, and didn't even ask how my stay was. I found out the breakfast was £12 which I thought was steep anyway, and by the point I did not

This is a hotel I definitely recommend. I went in the cold season, but the room temperature is always just right and comfortable. The hotel is kind.

Just returned from an overnight spa break at Moor Hall which my husband & kids purchased for me for my birthday . Super easy to redeem & I upgraded to afternoon tea & the treatments to 40 mins. Super spacious room with a comfortable bed , huge bathroom & lovely powerful rain shower. The bathroom decor ( tiles ) could do with some work to make a bit more modern but it was super clean. I was a little concerned with the location of the bedrooms located (room 77) as it seemed to be really close to the main banqueting suite which was hosting a super large wedding ( congratulations to Heather & George ) , especially when we were there for a relaxing spa break but we heard no noise whatsoever & I was mindful of walking into a group of immaculately dressed wedding guests in their finery & a bride & groom whilst we were wearing our white robes & flip flops . Fortunately we didn’t really ‘get in the way’ of the wedding , plus it was a lovely sunny day so they were all outside . Spa massage was incredible with Grace & Catherine . The 40 minutes flew by ! Thanks ladies . We also arranged an afternoon tea . It was presented beautifully & the service was impeccable served in a gorgeous room . The swimming pool was a great size & had a great steam room & sauna. Carvery dinner was just amazing . Eyes bigger than our belly & we skipped dessert . 10/10 Great choice for breakfast ( buffet ) too Everyone we met was dressed immaculately & super friendly & plenty of staff to make our visit amazing. A fantastic spa stay at a beautiful hotel . Left feeling refreshed , super full of good food & drink . Thank you to everyone who made our stay incredible. 10/10 & highly recommended.

Hotel is not in a bad location for trips out… But the hotel needs a lot of improvements! The breakfast buffet you are left waiting for them to replenish food items , you have to keep asking staff where are the cups for tea as none replaced there was queues because of the location of the toaster, be careful if you ask for water to be replaced in room as I was charged but then got a refund after complaining..the executive room was good but I know the standard rooms are not great. The staff were good but there needs better organisation. The pool area dated and no set time they seem to pick and choose open close times. We had quite a few issues not all mentioned here which we told reception about we was not happy and noticed other customers complaining.. we would not stay again and certainly not 4 star 3 at most .. can’t comment on spa treatments as did not use but looking at the spa I’m sure there are better ones around. Golf course 9 hole in good condition but outside hotel area need tidying up bit scruffy.

It wasn’t a bad hotel. The staff were really friendly and went out of their way to help. We had a triple room, which was a bit dated, the room doors had been changed to key card entry except ours which needed a key - I’m not sure the reason for this. The room was clean. The things that let it down was the wall lights by the beds were loose on the wall and I think the bulb had gone in mine. The room was very cold - for the size of the room there was one small electric heater in the corner which was partially obscured by the dressing table. The door on the shower cubicle didn’t shut properly (I tried to get it back on its runners to no avail. There was some mold around the edge of the shower as well. On certain nights they have live music, which their website told you about and the likelihood of noise. As our room was right next to the restaurant we could hear this, but it didn’t go on till late. I would probably stay here again but would want a room on the upper floor and away from the restaurant.
