Suzhou Shantang Street Huamao Gusuli Service Apartment

My wife spontaneously decided to take the kids to Suzhou, and we picked this hotel, which turned out to be surprisingly good! The hotel has its own traditional Suzhou garden, complete with a pond, rockeries, and koi fish. You can even buy fish food at the front desk to feed them. We booked a twin room, and it was really nice – spacious and bright. It even had a washing machine and an induction cooktop. If you need cooking utensils, you can ask the butler. The hotel also features an indoor swimming pool, which is connected to the kids' play area. The play area itself is great; my child played there all afternoon and didn't want to leave! There are also daily craft activities you can book, and the finished products are quite good quality. The hotel's location is excellent too. It's right next to Vanke Wonderland, and there's another large shopping mall across the street. You can access Vanke Wonderland directly from inside the hotel, so you don't have to worry about sun or rain. The front desk staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. My little one is already looking forward to staying here again! The only downsides were that the curtains weren't great at blocking out light, and the pillows weren't very comfortable.

We brought our little one to Suzhou and booked a 2-bedroom, 1-bathroom suite. Upon arrival, they generously upgraded us to a room with two bathrooms and three beds, which was even better! They also installed bed rails, which was very convenient. The hotel's service was excellent. Our room was spacious and well-equipped, with a washer and dryer, which was very handy. The hotel also has an indoor swimming pool and a kids' play area, making it perfect for families with children. The hotel's location is superb, right next to Vientiane World, and you can access it directly via an underground passage, so you don't have to worry about sun or rain. It's also a short walk to Shantang Street. The hotel even has a Lingzhi Garden, like a small traditional garden, where our baby loved feeding the fish every day. We'll definitely stay here again next time we visit Suzhou!

The room has a minimalist style and looks very clean. With over 50 square meters, it's quite spacious. The most practical item in the room I found was the washing machine with a dryer, which saved me the hassle of handwashing. The smart toilet was also a nice touch. Although the kids' play area is small, the children had a great time. There's also a teacher who leads craft classes for kids every day, and spots fill up quickly! The Zhizhi Garden has a beautiful collection of koi fish, big and small, which really captivated the little ones as they fed them.

Where did this hotel get its 'third best family hotel in Suzhou' ranking? And all those rave reviews on Xiaohongshu? I initially booked a 2-night stay but it was so boring I canceled one night, which they processed without a fuss, thankfully. The location is indeed good, nestled within the Hualian Plaza complex, with direct underground access to Suzhou MixC World. The Shilu subway station (Line 2) is a 15-minute walk away, and Qilishantang scenic area is a 20-minute walk. However, getting to the hotel parking during peak hours is a nightmare; it took me half an hour to cover the last kilometer at around 4 PM on a Sunday afternoon. Hygiene, service, and breakfast were all fine. The front desk even proactively upgraded me to a suite. Now, for the family-friendly aspect: the gym, swimming pool, and kids' club are all shared facilities of the Hualian Plaza apartments. You need to show your room card or buy a ticket to enter the pool, and the management seems quite organized. BUT, the swimming pool has no children's facilities whatsoever. The 'children's pool' is just smaller in size. The main pool had classes and adults, making it impossible for kids to really swim. The water temperature was also a bit low, so we escaped after 20 minutes. The kids' club facilities are basic, unmaintained, and unmanaged. There was artificial sand tracked everywhere from the sand pit, and it wasn't cleaned up. The craft area tables were old, and the picture books were damaged. I can only say that this hotel is much more suitable for business or adult travelers. It has a long way to go before it can be considered a decent family-friendly hotel.

Definitely worth five stars: 1) The hotel, parking garage, shopping mall, and subway are all integrated, making travel very convenient. 2) The front desk and room service are very responsive – a seamless experience. 3) The pool, kids' play area, and gym are rarely crowded but exceptionally clean – clearly well-maintained.
