Friendly and welcoming a wonderful visit to a historic house with a nice garden close to everything in Tongli.

The inn was originally the site of the Taihu Water Conservancy Tongzhi Yamen in the first year of Yongzheng in the Qing Dynasty. The entire building has a history of more than 300 years. It has six rooms and is now a cultural relic protection unit in Suzhou City. Now the main entrance and several rooms are used as a homestay, and my family has been living there. The second room behind the Tongli Town Government has been opened as a tourist attraction, the Taihu Water Conservancy Exhibition Hall. Wonderful stay in this traditional Tongli house… it’s incredible it’s like the historic houses you visit in the town.. moreover, the owner has been very helpful, polite and caring. I’d love to come back. Definitely reccomend it.

This was one of the best experiences I ever had, not only in China, but in Asia. The location was not 10/10 but far beyond, the furniture in the whole hotel is almost museum worthy, it is quiet and the people are super friendly.

this is a very special place with long standing history. the owner is so friendly and generous, grandma's food is good and affordable if you can speak chinese, you can learn more about their lives and it was wonderful for me.

The accommodation is a old house which was built during the Kangxi reign of the Qing dynasty and has been built more than 300 years ago. Currently it is run by the descendants and the location of the accommodation is within the Tongli ancient town. After 5pm, entrance into the ancient town is free of charge. Hence we did not have to pay for the entrance fee when we stayed here as we got here after 5pm. The night view is beautiful with red lanterns which is different from Wuzhen which are mostly yellow in colour. The town still has the old ancient town feel compared to Xizha in Wuzhen which is more touristy and refurbished. It is worth staying here one night and enjoy the night view before heading to other nearby destinations the next day. Though we did not need to pay for the entrance ticket after 5pm, access to the attractions within the ancient town like the tuisi gardens etc requires the ticket for verification if you wish to visit these places the next day. The rooms in this hotel looks better in person than in the photos shown in the trip.com website. The beds are big and the antique furnitures gives a very oriental ancient vibe.

Excellent location in the heart of the old town. Beautiful, charming hotel with antique-style rooms, comfortable beds, and a lovely courtyard. Friendly host, who was very helpful in spite of the language barrier, and who came to collect us from the entrance to the town.

Quiet scenery, very good service, clean, cool air conditioner, clean and new toilet. Located inside the ancient town, so you can scare you during the day and see the ancient town at night. If you walk in, it's a bit far, you can take a local 3-wheeler for 20 yuan. Don't bring too much luggage. The host is very enthusiastic, when I left, the host took me to the alley to catch a taxi.

The room was very clean and well-equipped. There was plenty of hot water for the shower. The house is the owner's ancestral home, which has a classic, antique feel, complete with a Qing Dynasty dressing table, a canopy bed, and other exquisite craftsmanship. The owner was very kind; he picked me up at the scenic area entrance and took me to the bus station because I had luggage. The plants in the guesthouse courtyard were carefully tended. The stay was quiet and I slept very comfortably. The owner's breakfast was delicious and cheaper than elsewhere. Tongli Ancient Town is a typical example of a picturesque town with small bridges, flowing water, traditional houses, stone-paved roads, stone arch bridges, and winding streams. It was just perfect. The host recommended a nicer room, huge, clean, and very authentic. I was impressed. The view from my room overlooked the flowery interior courtyard lined with medlar trees. The smell of old wood was superb. The guesthouse is in the heart of Tongli. I hope this place will be preserved forever. I felt very nostalgic leaving this peaceful place. The host was very friendly; it's a 10/10.

The courtyard was very quiet, the rooms were rustic, and the security was excellent; the locks couldn't be opened from the outside. Food delivery was also very convenient. I liked both rooms so I stayed in both. Each room seemed small but had everything I needed, including a private bathroom. Once I moved in, I didn't want to leave! The owner's service was also excellent! They picked me up on their bike when I got off the bus and couldn't find the place. They helped with my luggage when I moved in, and even took me to the station when I left. They responded to any questions very quickly! They were also very easygoing. (I am Korean) I have never seen a Korean in Tongli, but I am leaving this for those who might come here. I cannot speak Korean to the owner, but I was kindly guided through a translator. Just sitting in the beautifully decorated garden and the old-fashioned hall made me feel at ease. The room is so pretty that an hour passes by just taking pictures in the room. The interior is decorated with traditional furniture and has a modern bathroom, so it is very comfortable. You can think of it as a facility that was renovated from a regular house into a hotel. It feels like a '**old house' in Korea. And the location is also on the main street of Tongli-gujeon. When you go out, it is a picture. However, to enter Tongli-gujeon, you have to pay 20,000 won (discount if you make a reservation at least one day in advance) even if you have a reservation at the hotel inside. I was surprised because I did not know this, but it was worth paying 20,000 won to stay there. That is because if you stay in the accommodation inside Tongli-gujeon, you can feel the 'night' of Tongli-gujeon.
