Bloomestate Swellendam

This bed & breakfast was my favorite of the places we stayed in South Africa. We were there only 1 night, and I wish that we could have stayed much longer. Every aspect of the property seems to be mindfully curated to create a sense of peace and refreshment. The rooms are in separate small buildings laid out around a central courtyard with a pool. The tasteful decor and amenities all contribute to a feeling of relaxation and wellness. There is a citrus grove on the property where you can pick fresh mandarins and lemons in season (which they were -- absolutely wonderful!). Breakfast on the enclosed patio was charming and delicious, although with binoculars in hand I could hardly concentrate on the food. There is an abundance of bird life on the property, with nice walking trails taking you around the grounds. It was too cool during our short visit for us to take advantage of the outdoor pool. There is a nice local pizzeria/restaurant just down the street. Swellendam is conveniently located to the De Hoop Nature Reserve.

A curated experience through and through! From the moment we arrived at Bloomestate the owners welcomed us and made sure to assist with everything from evening dinner recommendations to reservations. The grounds are immaculate from the citrus orchards to the common area and poolside. The room was beautiful and private. With scented bath salts and bottled waters directly from the natural estate springs. And let’s talk about breakfast…made to order hot eggs and bacon with table service, home made jams and a selection of teas from around the globe. Hands down we would visit this estate again and highly recommend adding it to your itinerary.

We stayed at Bloomestate for a night last week as we were driving along the Garden Route. Our room was lovely and had everything we needed for our short stay. There is a lovely communal lounge with hundreds of DVDs to borrow, books and an honesty bar. A lovely pool area and a very calm, relaxing atmosphere. Chere and Calvin looked after us really well - breakfast was fantastic..! Little touches such as heart-shaped napkins (Valentine's Day) were all appreciated, as was organising a lift into town for dinner. Would definitely recommend.

The B&B has a wonderful garden (good for birds) and an orchard. ℂ́ and Calvin are welcoming hosts, attentive and thoughtful. Our room was spacious and well appointed, tastefully decorated and very comfortable, looking out to the garden and woodland. The breakfast was easily the best we have had at a B&B in Southern Africa.

This is a perfect place to stay in Swellendam. The rooms are modern, very clean and there is really evwrything you can think of. The swimming pool and surrounding is great to relax. Really oitstanding experience. Lovely hotel with very comfortable rooms in a beautiful. setting. Nice sized clean pool with ample sunbeds. Owners on site were always very helpful. Tasteful decor. Delicious breakfast

This is a wonderful place in which to stay if visiting Swellendam. The property is very well appointed and offers everything one would want for a very relaxing stay. Cheré and Calvin, the proprietors, do everything possible to make your stay enjoyable and successful. I simply cannot recommend Bloomestate highly enough.

Our stay at Bloomestate was absolutely wonderful. The excellent service, the location, and the friendly en caring owners make it more than worth a visit. The owners gave us also great tips about the area and where to eat. They are happy to make a restaurant reservation for you. Our room was perfectly decorated and had a fantastic view. The bed was incredible comfortable. I would highly recommend a stay at Bloomestate to everyone. As soon as we are back in South Africa we will definitely return.

Lovely and friendly owners, the grounds are extensive with beautiful gardens, the facilities are superb as well as being vey secure with a gated entrance. The pool and deck area are very inviting. Our room was lovely and spacious with all the amenities necessary for a pleasant stay. There was tea and coffee available plus a fridge and an honesty bar. The bed was very comfortable and the shower in the spacious bathroom was excellent. There is a guest lounge also with tea and coffee and an honesty bar. It is also very spacious and comfortable. The dining room for breakfast is also lovely as was the delicious breakfast with plenty to start with and a good choice for a cooked breakfast. All in all a lovely guesthouse run by people that care and cater for one’s needs. Many thanks.
