A gem This place is fabulous The staff are amazing and the rooms and gardens a delight The bedding is the best ! The afternoon tea was a pleasant treat We sadly did not eat there but if breakfast is anything to judge then just book to eat Breakfast was a gourmet meal in the conservatory Would love to have stayed longer Cannot fault it Talking to the owners was a bonus they were so nice

What an amazing space Alison and Richard have created at Schoone Oordt. The main house has been beautifully renovated and the separate room we stayed in was gorgeous. Dinner was the most amazing meal and the service was exceptional. One of our party is coeliac and they made a point of acknowledging this each time we ate, which gave us great confidence, and they were happy amend the dishes as necessary although this in no way affected the amazing quality and taste of the food. Alison and Richard took the time to chat with us and it was lovely to hear their story about how they have created both a family home and amazing guest house. Swellendam is a lovely little town to visit and we could not recommend more highly a stay and dinner at Schoone Oordt.

Just the one night here unfortunately on the way down to the Garden route but so much more than just a stopover and we wish we had been able to stay longer. We were made to feel so welcome by all the staff from the minute we arrived . We had been suffering with a stomach bug since leaving Cape Town so reluctantly declined what looked to be some fantastic dinner options. However we were offered a simple salmon trout dish with rice and vegetables that was perfect for our “delicate” condition. Likewise , whilst we had to temper our breakfasts options, it is not to be missed - you will not need lunch but you can of course return for the complimentary afternoon warm scones! The house and grounds are beautiful and our room was lovely. Our car was even washed before we left in the morning! Highly recommended

Staying here was an experience. An experience of warmth, quality and passion. We felt this was our best stay during our garden route drive. Thank you for thinking about the “small things” which made a real difference. And thanking you for making us feel special celebrating our wedding anniversary. Highly recommended

We had only one night at Schoone Oordt Country House but what a stay! From the moment we arrived we were treated like old friends and made to feel very welcome. The accommodation is luxurious and indulgent, attention to detail is perfect. Loved the cafetiere for coffee in our room and the afternoon drinks by the pool. Dinner was perfect and the atmosphere was like an old fashioned house party. Breakfast was on another level, a feast meaning no lunch required. All topped off as we watched our car being washed before departure. Alison is a delight and already feels like an old friend. If we make it back to South Africa we wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Excellent stay in quaint Swellendam. The property is classy, the food is excellent and the staff go out of their way to make your stay a delight. Very highly recommended.

What a stunning place to stay, the rooms were beautifully appointed, the food was delicious and the warm welcome from Alison and her staff made us feel as if we've come home. Absolutely loved our brief sat at Schoone Oordt and we will most certainly be back.

Fantastic hospitality, clean room, peaceful convenient location, excellent breakfast and wonderful restaurant. An unusual extra was having our car washed in the morning. I would gladly stay here again.

Amazing hospitality from staff and Alison especially as we had arrived in not very good health suffering from a bad virus picked up in Cape town some days earlier. Very understanding and considerate to us. A truly tranquil house and location highly recommended would certainly return again.
