I chose the hotel due to its location. It is across the road from the museum, has a convenience store close by, plenty of food places, and a Metro station is just 200m away with the main railway station just 400m away. My room had wifi/internet and a bar fridge. I stayed here twice and was mostly satisfied. Better rooms are on the front of the building. The back rooms have no view and sound carries between them via a light well. English speaking by staff is mixed. They do have a left luggage facility if you arrive early or are departing late. Not all staff understand such requests.

Rich Garden is a well-maintained, well-run little hotel located just a few short blocks from the Ximen MRT station and the heart of Ximending. Our room came with a terrific multi-nozzle shower and a firm but comfortable bed. Breakfast was more than we could possibly eat. There’s a gym we didn’t use. Self -service laundry is free (including detergent). The staff is helpful, friendly and attentive. If you’re looking for luxe go elsewhere but if a well-located place to hang your hat is what you want you won’t go wrong at the Rich Garden.

A few minutes walk (~10 mins from Ximen MRT station). You’d have to navigate the small alley lanes in the area to find the hotel. Amenities are typical (kettle, hairdryer, TV). The phrase “you get what you pay for” will be applicable in a way. A comfortable stay I would say.

I stayed here for the first half of my Taipei trip, the hotel is perfect for solo travellers. The room is a great size with fantastic amenities (Nespresso machine and Dyson hairdryer! Tv with Netflix included). The room may be a little cosy for a couple but I think it would be fine! Hotel lobby had a lot of cute things you could buy like souvenirs; patches and pins. They also offered maps etc. and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, could speak mandarin and English. I arrived before check in, and leaving my luggage was not a problem, they also let me freshen up after my flight and change my clothes in the bathroom (which also had a shower!) Communal kitchen area with a fridge, washing machine and water tap (which could make soda water!). I loved staying here and would definitely stay again!

Ximending Commercial Area
This is a hotel built in an old building with the top floor renovated. Because there is only one floor, there are not many rooms. There should be many homes on other floors, but because there are two elevators going up and down, you don't need to wait for a long elevator to get around. The room is relatively spacious and has all the necessary equipment. It can also be seen that it has been cleaned carefully and there is no problem with hygiene. The bath towels are also relatively new and have good softness. The hotel front desk staff is standard ********* service, warm and polite, and feels relatively comfortable. However, perhaps because there are fewer rooms, guests will be notified when checking in that the front desk will be unmanned after 18:00, and we need to arrange entry and exit by ourselves. But since there is no one left, can we leave emergency contact information for guests? Otherwise, if you encounter problems or emergencies in the room, you really don’t know who to turn to to deal with them, which makes you very uneasy. The hotel is located in a relatively prosperous area of Ximending, about a 5-minute walk from the subway. There are many convenience stores and restaurants, and it is also convenient to take a taxi. However, there are two equipment problems that still cause me a lot of trouble! 1. Curtains cannot cover all windows, so after dawn, sunlight will shine into the room through the gaps, making it impossible to sleep normally. 2. There is a big problem with the air conditioner. After turning on the air conditioner, the sound of the machine is very noisy. I have tried to turn off the air conditioner, but because the window is locked, there is no way to find a gap, so ventilation cannot be carried out, and there will be noise in the room. It was quite stuffy, so I continued to turn on the air conditioner afterwards. But the noise of this air conditioner cannot create a quiet space to sleep. I saw that the air conditioner was not a long-standing device, and I don’t know why this happened. Attached is a picture, I hope the store can improve it. In short, this hotel may not be very suitable for middle-aged men who go on business in the morning and have poor sleep quality.
