Hotel Grateful Takachiho ★★★
"Good and comfortable, with free parking. Highly recommended."
Solest Takachiho Hotel ★★★
"I stayed here to see the Kagura dance at Takachiho Shrine. I really regret only staying one night. Next time, I'd love to stay for several nights and explore the surrounding area. The room had Ryukyu tatami mats and a low table. I found the low table a bit uncomfortable to sit at. Overall, I was very satisfied with my stay."
Harume ★★
"Driving is more convenient, as there are supermarkets nearby, and it's not far from the city center. The roads are a bit narrow, so be careful when getting back at night. This time, staying on the first floor, I didn't encounter any issues carrying luggage as others have reported. The room space was acceptable. I booked two rooms; one had a noticeable damp smell (but it was acceptable, considering it's not on flat ground and the hotel is probably old). There was no water dispenser (you can ask the staff for one, and they'll give you a thermos)."
Hotel Shikimi ★★★★
"Antique and quiet environment!"
Ryojouen Yamazato ★★
"This was my first time staying at a typical Japanese guesthouse. The hostess was very welcoming and helpful, explaining the facilities and general layout. The room wasn't big, but it was fine for a simple rest or short-term stay. Sleeping on tatami mats was a first for me, and it was okay, except for some ants crawling around on the first night. Breakfast was good, but I felt it wasn't very good value for money. It was convenient to grab something from the supermarket."
Hanare No Yado Kamigakure ★★★
"Although it's a small inn with only 8 detached rooms, it's a truly satisfying place to stay. When I made my reservation for dinner, only the breakfast-included plan was available, so I thought I'd look for a place to eat dinner outside, but I called later to request it. I was worried that there might not be enough seats available, but with only 8 rooms, there seemed to be enough semi-private rooms in the restaurant for each room. Many hotels and inns require reservations for the start time and rotate guests, so I was concerned about that, but if there are enough seats for each group of guests, the time seems to be flexible. This time, I chose to start dinner at 6 PM so that I could make it in time for the 8 PM night kagura performance I had booked, but I enjoyed a delicious and leisurely dinner and ran out of time, so I had them set aside dessert for me when I went out. The staff brought it to my room when I returned from the night kagura, so I was able to enjoy it later. Starting dinner at 5:30 PM might be better. Dinner Contents The hospitality of explaining the menu, which is based on the night kagura of Takachiho Shrine and the myths of Takachiho, in a picture-story show format was very enjoyable and delightful. Not only is the food delicious, but the tableware and presentation are also well thought out, making for a delightful meal. The staff at this inn are cheerful, kind, and attentive—absolutely wonderful. It was a truly impressive and satisfying dinner. Breakfast In the morning, we were led to the same private room as dinner, and there was nothing self-service; everything was served by the staff. A cute and beautiful cover was already on the table, and a handmade, cute illustrated meal guide hinted at a delightful meal. First, we had a non-alcoholic amazake as a morning treat. It was refreshing and delicious. Each dish on the tray was related to Takachiho, and just like dinner, the tableware and presentation were carefully considered, making it beautiful and delicious. Above all, each dish was original, making it very enjoyable. And there was even dessert in the morning, with a dry ice presentation mimicking the sea of clouds at Kunimigaoka. It's hospitality that doesn't cut corners until the very end. It was a delicious, fun breakfast that made me happy from the start of the day. This is truly a wonderful inn."
Ryokan Shinsen ★★★★★
"Traditional Japanese inn with kimonos available for guests to wear."
Ryokan Yamatoya ★★
"A long-established inn located in the downtown area of Takachiho Town. The bus terminal from Nobeoka and Takachiho Shrine are only a few minutes' walk away, albeit on a slope. A Yamazaki convenience store is also nearby. Although it is a long-established store, there are signs that it has undergone various renovations. The toilet in the room was small, but it had a washlet. The downside is that there is no elevator. I would like an elevator to go back and forth between the 1st and 3rd floors. Dinner, on the other hand, featured mainly local dishes, and the Miyazaki beef sukiyaki was delicious."
Hotel Takachiho ★★★
"Hotel in good location if you plan to go the famous Takachiho Gorge, they have plubic onsen in the hotel view from room also very nice. Good time to spent your holiday here."
