I had a truly memorable stay at this hotel. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the staff were incredibly attentive and kind throughout my visit. The overall atmosphere gave off a wonderfully authentic Japanese vibe, which made the experience even more special. One of the highlights was the delicious traditional Japanese breakfast — beautifully prepared and full of flavor. What impressed me most was how the hotel made me feel so comfortable and welcome, almost like I was staying at a relative’s home in Japan. It’s a place I would wholeheartedly recommend, and I would love to return again in the future.

It's an 8-10 minute walk from Takaoka Station, easy to find, and very close to Daibutsu Temple. The room was spacious, although a bit dated, but I slept well. The air conditioning was cool, and the shared bathroom was clean. Breakfast was tasty and the portions were just right. Overall, I was impressed and the price was reasonable.

This is a relaxing inn where you can feel the charm of the area. The staff were kind and provided excellent service. Since it was winter, the room was cold as you'd expect in Toyama, but there was air conditioning and a fan heater, so it wasn't a problem. The fluffy futon was also very comfortable. The bath was small but easy to use and very pleasant. If I had to say one thing, personally, I don't think bath salts are necessary.

It's very close to the station and has its own parking lot (opposite the hotel). If you want to experience Japanese-style accommodation, this is a must-visit. A Japanese breakfast is also included in the morning.

A very charming accommodation. The staff, though their English was limited, were very welcoming, and the bath was very comfortable. The facilities, while old, were not run-down, and the price remained reasonable even during holidays.

The room was a traditional Japanese tatami room. The elderly gentleman there was very kind and spoke English. Breakfast was a traditional Japanese breakfast. The hotel was right next to the Takaoka Great Buddha, and the station was less than 500 meters away.

The facilities are a bit old, typical of traditional Japanese inns. Service was adequate; the owner wasn't particularly enthusiastic, but was a very nice person, doing everything expected and providing helpful reminders. One issue was the lack of blackout curtains, making it easy for the sun to shine in early in the morning. Everything else was perfect, especially the blankets, which were very clean and had no odor whatsoever.

The decor is very stylish, divided into small, private areas, which is quite nice. Facilities: Very complete. It was my first time experiencing this kind of Japanese-style accommodation. Service: An elderly gentleman there spoke English. Cleanliness: Very good.

This hotel is very close to the Great Buddha of Takaoka, and the elderly gentleman and lady there were incredibly kind and helpful. They even saw you off at the door and went to your room to check you in, explaining everything in detail. Although it's a very off-the-beaten-path destination, I truly had a wonderful experience there.

My colleagues wanted to experience a Japanese-style family hotel and booked this one. It’s very cost-effective! It even scares the Japanese customers hahaha. The hotel operators are all old men and women. They are very friendly and can speak English. When you go out, you can see the back of the Big Buddha. It is the third largest Buddha in Japan. Customers say that this Big Buddha looks more handsome. The house is very old, but the rooms are very clean and spacious, and the stay is very comfortable. Bathing, washing, and toilets are all shared, which I am used to. Breakfast is also delicious! I will consider this place when traveling to Toyama in the future.

If you ever find yourself adding Takaoka to your Japan itinerary, treat yourself to a stay at this traditional family owned Ryokan. Located literally right behind the great Buddha statue, the building itself is somewhat dated, but very fitting for Takaoka, which we overall found quite slow moving. The rooms however are clean and spacious, likewise so with the shared facilities. Where the place really shines though is with its hosts, who you will instantly fall in love with. They are kind, accommodating, service minded and not in any way intrusive when it comes to personal space. The food, prepared by the lady of the house, is absolutely delicious and a steal for the price you pay to stay there. Overall we cannot recommend the place enough, and hope many more people will venture outside the popular Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka etc. destinations and discover this side of Japan as well.
