Hoshino Resorts Iriomote Hotel Reviews

It was my first time on Iriomote Island, and the staff were all friendly and helpful. There were also free activities and an all-you-can-eat pineapple event, so I had a great time. We were able to take as much amenities and water as we needed in rented bottles, which was very helpful and I think was great as nothing went to waste. I thought the prices might be a little high in the high season, but considering the free activities and events, I thought it was good value. The buffet didn't have a large selection, but everything was delicious. Overall, I would recommend this hotel.

There was a tablet in the room that allowed me to talk to the front desk, but when I tried to call, the front desk wouldn't answer. I ended up having to go to the front desk to run some errands. This happened five times during my three-day stay. I felt that a fundamental solution was needed.

hotel unsuitable for international tourism. old and decadent structure surrounded by beautiful vegetation. the rooms are not cleaned after check in but only the towels are changed. there are no areas to relax. the beautiful and pristine beach cannot be enjoyed. friendly staff but unable to solve any problem. there are no taxis and it is not possible to transfer for a fee so only buses even for those who do not know the language. the only thing that can be saved is food! choose something else

The good news is it’s quiet and secluded. The bad news is you are sequestered to what’s around you. With the benefit of the doubt and off season (late November) there wasn’t much going on around the local village. This meant every meal was at the hotel. While good, it got tiresome after 4 days. Our room was on the third floor with a view of the pool. The trees block the ocean view unless you are on the 4th floor. The daybed and outdoor patio are nice for hanging out. The clothes rack can be put outside to dry things. We came during the rainy season so no one used the pool. The beach was quiet with a daily happy hour of sparkling wine and a local cocktail. Staff were friendly and helpful especially when we used Google translator. We rented the ebkies for 4 hours and ran out of battery before our time was up. They were gracious in letting us exchange them and bring them back a bit later. We rode all around the island. A great way to spend a few hours. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t conducive to snorkeling. However We did do a the boat ride up the Urauchi River and hiked to the Mariudu and Kanbire waterfalls. We also kayaked and hiked to Pinaisara waterfalls. This is a place for relaxing and walking on a secluded beach. There are a few nice outdoor nature activities if the weather is good.

Stayed for 3 nights. Very professional operation, from meeting at the ferry port to leaving. Large hotel, but not that full in April. Introduction on arrival in kind-of-English, which complimented our kind-of-Japanese. Excellent huge room with beach view ( top floor superior twin) with a balcony and a day bed. But WATCH OUT FOR THE CROWS - don't leave any windows open, and don't leave any food anywhere - they unwrapped our sweets inside the room! Very short walk to lovely, virtually private beach, which was mostly occupied by very few people, and often just us. Good swimming despte the OTT jellyfish warnings, and superb stars. Excellent buffet dinner and breakfast, lots of variety, 2 different specials each evening, and some superb Iriomote and Ishigaki sake to taste. Chilled jasmine tea stood out, matcha mochi, we could go on.... Good walking in the vicinity, and we also hired e-bikes, which despite the reservations of this 'proper' cyclist, were great fun, ( but not that comfortable if you're over 6 foot) and got us a long way up the coast to some more lovely beaches, mangroves, jungle. We joined a firefly tour one evening, which is highly recommended. Great location on a wonderfuly tropical island

This hotel is located on a scenic beach which is nearly always empty. Very friendly, attentive and professional personnel. Great choices for delicious dinner and breakfast. Always clean towels, fun lounge with ice sticks, clean pool. I will give it 5 stars, but I do want to mention that a hotel of this type shall have more bicycles for rent, better lunch options (only two dishes!) and work on eliminating smell in the hallways (3rd floor).

I joined the Iriomote Mangrove Beach Course. Since we had 2 days of 1-day course activities, I thought there might be some things I had heard before, but it was all new and very interesting. The weather was fine on that day, but it must have been close to 30 degrees even though it was the end of November. Still, the mask was thorough. Because it is a large organization, it may be unavoidable in the current situation in Japan, but since we are from overseas, we felt very uncomfortable. I also participated in stretching on the beach in the morning, but wearing a mask and taking a deep breath... I think it's okay to do it as an individual outdoors.

Even without making a reservation, when you land at Uehara Port, Hoshino staff will be waiting for you according to the boat's departure time, so just call them and board the shuttle bus. There is free tea, juice, coffee, hot water, and snacks in the corner next to the front desk. In the evening, wine and snacks are served free of charge on the beach. The evening dinner buffet was also less than 5,000 yen. It was cheaper than I expected, delicious, healthy, and the food made use of the characteristics of local ingredients, and the desserts, ice cream, and alcohol were all free, so I was very satisfied. There was a peach pineapple fair, so I was able to try a lot of them during my two-night stay. I was impressed by the pineapple accessories for taking photos and the lobby decoration. The building is certainly old... I can't really describe it, but the Southeast Asian cottage-style interior gives it the perfect atmosphere of a tropical island! I can see that the young people are working very hard, but wouldn't it be better to have more experienced staff, or rather staff of a more suitable age group for the customer base? Not all older people are as good at using information devices as younger people. The shuttle bus is sometimes announced in the building and sometimes not, so you might miss it if you relax too much in the chair at the front desk, thinking that the bus will be announced when it arrives. There are also elderly people who don't understand the Hoshino Resorts app unless you hold them by the hand. What is a swipe? What is an app? Some people can't even read the QR code with their camera. (That's my husband...) The walking tour around the hotel was fun, the breakfast was really delicious, and it was a great place to spend a holiday on Iriomote Island.

This was my 3rd year in a row, but once I visit this hotel on Iriomote Island, if I can make it in my schedule, I will definitely go there. Of course, the natural environment is the same, but the reasonable size and service, the unique atmosphere and comfort, and the fact that you can stay for about $200 including the morning and evening buffet is a must-see for beach resorts not only in Japan but around the world. Even if you aim for it, there are few comparisons (some people say that the buffet has a small variety and you get tired of it every day, but there is a lot of variety and the main menu changes every day, so I don't think that's the case). Also, every time there is some kind of event, this time there was a pine festival and a sunset sparkling wine service, which I really enjoyed. I usually participate in tours here and there, but the main purpose of this time was the barringtonia tour, so other than that, I just relaxed by the hotel pool and took a walk around the area. was very relaxing. Here, you can use the beautiful shower room even after checking out, so it's always a big help after returning from a tour or playing in the pool. It seems to be persistent, but if you have a chance to go here, you should definitely go there now. All the staff are always cheerful and energetic, but please do your best with a smile on your face. I will also ask you.

This is a comfortable hotel with energetic, young staff. There are many free activities to participate in, such as morning stretching on the beach, mangrove and jungle walks in the hotel, and the World Heritage School and Iriomote Wildcat School at night. I was also impressed by the abundance of nature when I spotted bats in the hotel garden. I enjoyed the slow passing of time, sitting on the sandy beach in front of me and watching the sunset, or relaxing on the balcony of my room listening to the sound of the waves. I was happy to see the wildcat Christmas tree and wildcat Santa during the Christmas event. The only thing I would like is that although the bathroom and toilet are separate and there is a washing area, the bathroom is old and not very clean, so I think it would be better if it was renovated.

My wife and I went on a trip to Okinawa. It was our first time on Iriomote Island, and we were right to choose this hotel for our stay. The exercises on the beach within walking distance of the hotel were very comfortable.

The staff were all very friendly and the food was delicious. The facilities are a little old, but the coffee, champagne and other drinks, as well as the jungle walks, were all very good.

This is my first time staying at a Hoshino Resort. I had gathered a lot of information beforehand, so I was able to stay normally. The staff were very friendly and I had a pleasant stay. However, the room was as bad as the reputation suggests, and although it was cleaned to a certain extent, there was a unique sewage-like smell that permeated the room. On the first day, I opened the window in the room for a while to let in air, and the smell somehow went away. There were some harsh reviews about the food, but both breakfast and dinner were delicious. I'm sure I would get tired of it after a week, but it would be enough for 2-3 nights. Another thing I noticed during my stay was that there were no quiet spaces in the hotel, probably because I went during the high season. Wherever I went, there were guests everywhere, and it was full of a noisy atmosphere. The hotel itself was not very large, so it seemed like the number of guests did not match the size of the hotel. Also, I felt that the accommodation fee was quite high for this size. I think they need to take measures such as renovating the rooms a little more.
