The journey to the lodge itself kicks off the adventure. It’s about a 2 hr boat ride. Since the boat has limited weight capacity, the staff kindly offered luggage storage, and I packed a light backpack for my stay. This made travel much more manageable. From the moment I arrived, the staff went above and beyond to ensure my stay was comfortable and unforgettable. The dedication and hard work of everyone at the lodge were truly inspiring—many of them juggle multiple roles, seamlessly transitioning from knowledgeable tour guides to servers, always with warmth and professionalism. One of the most profound lessons I learned from a guide on the first day was that nature will present itself to you—a reminder to remain open and connected during my visit. I found that by expressing gratitude and staying present, I had truly magical encounters. Feeding the monkeys was an incredible experience, and one even tapped my hand twice in what felt like her own form of gratitude. The lodge itself is well-organized, clean, and thoughtfully run, thanks to a strong, dedicated team that works together like family. Whether it was the manager, Henry, the guides, Walter leading our excursions (I regret not remembering all the other guides names), the staff seen cleaning the rivers, or the bartenders, Jacob and Eduardo crafting delicious drinks with kindness and skill, every person played a crucial role in making my stay memorable and special. I traveled alone, but they made me feel safe and cared for, which I truly appreciated. The food was delicious and served at designated times. WiFi access is limited to specific times as well but it was nice to disconnect from the world and stay present. The excursions are scheduled at specific times, but there is also leisure time afterwards. There is a pool table, foos ball, jenga, and other games available. There is a pool, so bring a swim suit. I forgot mine. There is hot water for showering, but sometimes you have to wait a few minutes. The rooms were comfortable, with screened windows that allowed me to wake up to the soothing sounds of nature. Every morning was a reminder of the beauty of the Amazon. If you are visiting, I highly recommend embracing the spirit of gratitude and connection—you’ll find that the Amazon has more to offer than meets the eye. My heart is full.
