An absolutely amazing place. Very good service & wonderful array of food. Accommodation as bungalows and set amongst the hills & trees was a different experience. Golf buggies offering free transport for guests was a nice surprise I would highly recommend Makryammos, Thassos & would definitely go back there

Absolutely superb from start to finish beautiful surroundings clean beach and crystal clear seawater. The accommodation was spotless and all the food was delicious plenty Full and good quality. Special mention to Kalli in the bar who was delightful and Maria in the restaurant who waited on us at breakfast and dinner so attentively! Nothing was too much trouble for the staff and definitely back again very soon .

Amazing place, excellent staff, the place it is quite unique. The beach/sand very clean, same for the water. The food was very good, the accomodation was excellent (we had a junior suite apartment, very spacious and modern). The bungalows are like in the pictures, inside of a small forest. I will return for sure.

Just returned from a 2 week stay at Makryammos bungalows and was a bit concerned about staying there after reading the previous reviews. The complex has its really good points and some really bad points in my opinion. Firstly the good points:- Rooms are really beautiful and spotless. The bedding and towels extremely clean and are changed frequently. There is a fridge in the room with a large complementary bottle of water along with tea and coffee making facilities. Free safe. Good selection of TV channels in English (did not use though). Lack of toiletries in bathroom and no soap dispenser in separate wc/hand basin room, nor anywhere to place your hand towel. Comfy beds and pillows. Large remote control ceiling fan to complement the air conditioning. Left door open at night with ceiling fan on low speed making no need for air conditioning on, plus there is a sliding mosquito door. All staff we found to be extremely nice and friendly. But the best thing about this resort is its setting in the pine forest with its own beautiful clean soft sandy beach with safe shallow water to enjoy. All sunbeds are allocated to you personally so there is absolutely no need to rush to reserve one each day. There is also waiter service on the beach for both drinks and snacks if you didnt want to leave your sunbed. Secondly the bad points:- The food was not good. it was extremely canteen style, served in large trays. Lots of the dishes were extremely salty and most were in a tomato sauce, even the fish, chicken, pork etc etc. All the meat and fish were of a poor quality. The best was the Sea Bass cooked once a week on the barbecue. The wine served at dinner was by bottle only and not by the glass. The salads were just basic tomato/lettuce/cucumber/onions etc with nothing else on the salad counter. The pastries were the best though, but unfortunately no ice cream to compliment. The attitude and dining habits of some of the guests staying there were actually unbelievable, which is not the hotel's fault its the people themselves. Most were rude, very greedy with the food piled high on their numerous plates and then left uneaten on the table, an extreme waste of food, not just occasionally but the same everyday. People would just push in front of you to get food and take almost everything from the trays. I have actually read this in a previous review and after having witnessed this type of behaviour, believe that is how some other people behave and it may just be their ways, but again, not the hotel,s fault but its such a complete waste. There were also many, many smokers who did not care if you were seated at a nearby table having either breakfast or dinner, they would just light up and the if the smoke blew your way well that was your dining experience ruined. Very nice hotel. The beach is amazing. The food very good. The room is very nice especially if you choose the sea view. A lot of cats and a lot of activities for the children. We had a very nice experience and 100% recommend this hotel as well as the beach.

We stayed here for a week in May at the beginning of the season and had a very enjoyable week despite the rather cool unseasonal weather. We usually stay at Limenaria but fancied a change. The bungalow was at the top of the steep hill which didn’t bother us at all. Our room was very clean and cleaners did a great job each day and replenished with fresh towels etc. The food was just fine, not a culinary experience, but plenty of choice. The beach was lovely. And plenty of sun beds at that time of year. The swimming pool looked a bit tired but that could have been because we were slightly out of season. Location was great for lots of walking including into Thassos, Marble Beach etc. The hotel was very quiet which we like but it would have been good to have had some sort of evening entertainment which is why I’ve only given 4 stars. Nevertheless we left feeling refreshed, relaxed and fitter due to the many walks we did so that can only be good right - I guess it would be different if we had mobility issues but the buggy was always about. We plan to return to this beautiful island and this hotel again in May next year.

After reading many negative reviews about Makryammos Bungalows I was really worried about our family holiday here. I shouldn't have worried. The place is beautiful, staff were polite and helpful especially Nicky and Sarah at reception. The beach is wonderful and having assigned sun-loungers is a really great idea. You are given a key at check in to unlock you parasol and beach beds. They are yours for the duration of your stay.We took our own paddle board and left it on the beach every night. The rooms are lovely and cleaned every day with fresh towels. The food was absolutely fine with lots of choice. I was worried as my little boy is a fussy eater but there was always something available for him. The bungalows are situated on a really steep hill and I was concerned about this with traveling with my parents and young children however the golf buggy was great. We didn't wait for more than 10 minutes to be collected from the beach to be taken back to our rooms. The hotel is 10 minutes in a taxi from Thassos town and cost 8 euros. There was one evening when a sax player was on in the outside bar which was nice. If this was more than one evening it would have been great. The pool was great but the children were not allowed to jump in and I am not really sure why? My Children were a bit disappointed by this but it wasn't a big deal. The small pool is in desperate need of a refurb and so are the toilets around the pool. This didn't spoil our holiday though we just didn't use the small pool or the pool toilets. All in all I would highly recomend Makryammos Bungalows. Thank you for a wonderful stay

We recently stayed at Makriammos Bungalows and unfortunately, the experience was far below my expectations. There were numerous issues that made our stay quite unpleasant. 1) Rooms are located on a hill, and the promised club car service to transport guests was rarely available. We found ourselves waiting for long periods just to get to and from our room. 2) The staff's attitude was another major disappointment. They were often rude and unprofessional, raising their voices when we had simple requests. It was shocking to be treated this way, especially considering we were paying guests. 3) Guests are assigned specific sunbeds, and we were expected to clean them ourselves every day and lock them up. Additionally, we were told we had to take our trash to the bins daily. This level of self-service is unacceptable for a hotel that markets itself as a premium establishment. 4) As someone with dietary restrictions, I was appalled by the lack of consideration for allergies. The hotel offered very few options for a gluten-free diet, and it was clear that allergies were not taken seriously as the food signs are not correct and no one contacted me on this topic. 5) Housekeeping was consistently subpar. Despite the fact that we were three people in the room, we were constantly only given one towel. We had to repeatedly ask for more towels, which should be a basic expectation. 6) Perhaps the most disturbing part of our stay was the behavior of the restaurant manager. Although the hotel claims that he does not serve food, we were personally served by him in the Tavern and coffee in the main restaurant. What made this worse was his unsanitary habit of preparing and smoking cigarettes right in front of guests, licking his fingers and tobacco paper before continuing to serve food. This was not only unprofessional but also a serious health concern. 7)What added insult to injury was the management's blatant indifference to these issues. When we brought our concerns to their attention through reception and the travel agency, they seemed uninterested and dismissive, giving the impression that they simply do not care about their guests' experiences. Overall, our stay at Makriammos was disappointing and frustrating. The lack of basic services, poor food quality, unprofessional staff behavior, and apathetic management made it a place we would not recommend to anyone. We expected much more from a hotel in this price range, and we will certainly not be returning.

Our team members adhere to strict hygiene standards, and we can assure you that smoking or any unsanitary behavior while serving guests is not tolerated. After reviewing our records and speaking with our staff, we found no evidence to support the incident you described. We spent 7 days in the hotel since we came here with an agency. First of all, if you don’t have car, you will be doomed in the hotel. Our room was one of the closest to the gate which means top of the hill and even the hotel says there is always club cart to carry you, there isn’t. Breakfast starts 7.30am and bars closes 12.00pm but the club cars are working between 08.30-22.30 if you are lucky and catch one. If you have any problem with walking uphill don’t even try the hotel. Food is awful. There is no gluten free food even in the snack menu. Furthermore, the signs on the foods are wrong and sometimes even the names. We are on Greece but we didn’t see any sea food on 7 days. There is plenty of pork and some chicken. If you are not a fan of both, you will stay hungry all the time. In addition to these, the staff mainly in the high level is very rude. If you don’t obey their rules or thoughts, they shout at you in front of everyone. There is always a rule set for everything you need to obey. You can’t sit on a table of 4 even you are 3 people and you need to wait for a 3 seated table to be opened. We waited nearly every dinner and half of the breakfast in the queue. You have assigned sunbed where you lock them overnight (that’s real and they are giving you a key for a lock) and you can’t sit anywhere else than hotel assigned you. Furhermore, everything is overpriced (1.5x-2x compared to Thassos average) and taste of the food is really bad. We saw also a big hygene problem that staff is serving coffee after cleaning the tables or restaurant floor. Sea was always windy and wavy. It could be due to the season but the depth of the water is shallow and if you want to swim, it is not giving any pleasure. Cleaning of the room is not bad but they put 1-2 towel set everyday even we warn the reception that we are 3 people. They just don’t care. Basically, it was awful holiday. We basically lived with the hotel dictates us. We raised some concerns but no body cared in the hotel. And the last evening we learned that since we leave 8.00 am, we need to give our luggages to be collected from the room until 8.00pm otherwise we need to carry all our stuff from a top of the hill to the reception. It was my 2nd visit to the island and this hotel make me strike out the island for my next vacations.

We had a brilliant week here in July as a family of four, kids are 12 & 14. The beach and sea were so nice we didn't use the pool once which is very unusal for us. What I loved is that from the beach you can hardly see any buildings, and those you do see blend in well. It's the perfect setting. Loads of choice for breakfast and dinner and every single member of staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful across the the resort. Yes there are wasps around, not the hotels fault, and we chose to eat inside. Our accommodation was at the top of the hill. There was a golf buggy available from early morning until 10:30pm which the kids sometimes got but I preferred to walk. It really, really isn't that bad or far and this was in 38c heat. Very easy to arrange a taxi into Thasos town which was around 8 euros each way. Would very happily visit again and my daughter is already asking to go back. A little more evening entertainment would be welcome. We had live music on one of the evenings.

A surprise holiday to celebrate a significant birthday. The hotel is in a very beautiful location, lovely sandy beach with allocated Sun loungers. The bar areas are good too, comfortable seating shaded by trees. We were horrified to find our accommodation was at the top of a very steep hill, it couldn’t have been higher or further away from the beach, bar and restaurant, we asked, if we could be moved to a more suitable bungalow, better for our needs as an older couple, we could if we paid an extra £1000 for the week, too much for us. This meant our entire week relied upon the use of golf carts , essentially rather than enabling us to have a good time, we felt disabled and trapped. Waiting in the heat to be taken to breakfast ( missed twice) and then again on an afternoon was unpleasant. The restaurant, or as we called it school/ staff canteen, was awful, children running amok, noisy, untidy and unpleasant, on the first evening, we asked for a glass of wine to be told we had to buy bottles! As we drink different wines, this cost was £50, we made those bottles last 4 nights. We did find out 3 days in, that half bottles were available. The food was generally cold and unappealing, what wasn’t eaten on an evening, was served up at breakfast, carrots and sweetcorn, eggs baked in eggplant and various guises of potatoes. Fried eggs only available twice a week, in rotation with pancakes 3 times and omelettes twice. There was a barbecue one evening, but watching the cooking of it, same tongs used for cooked and uncooked meat, put us off. Plus point we lost weight! It says in the description there is a mini market, there isn’t and our room tea tray wasn’t replenished all week. The young members of staff worked hard and were lovely. We will still visit our lovely Thassos, but never stay here, my significant birthday will never come again and the management here couldn’t care less whether you have a good holiday or not.

We booked a room for six days for three people, and I can tell you that the only things worth it are the beach and not having to pay for sunbeds. Booking a vacation in June is cheaper than in July. When we arrived, a guard at the gate welcomed us and directed us to the reception. We arrived before 3:00 PM, but our room was ready. We had booked a superior room on top of the hill. This became a problem whenever we had to leave the room. Going downhill is easy, but climbing back up is twice as hard, especially with a child. They have a tuk-tuk service, but it’s often unavailable, so you end up walking. If you book a deluxe suite, you're better off as it's closer to the reception and restaurant. The "sea view" is misleading because it’s blocked by pines and other trees. The room was spacious but full of mold. The bungalows are old and haven't been maintained for some time, evident from the musty smell upon entering. Fortunately, the room had air conditioning and a ceiling fan. The sheets were clean but stained, and the sofa was moldy. The refrigerator barely worked, and the front desk blamed it on recent fires. It’s small, so you’ll need to buy small quantities of drinks. The surroundings are nice, full of pine trees and peacocks, but they can be noisy. Closing the windows helps. The room cleaning was mediocre. Even after tipping the cleaning staff, they didn’t change our sheets until after four days and a complaint to the reception. Cleaning is minimal, as the staff carries supplies in bags due to the hills. There’s no beach towel station. You need to call reception to request replacements, which is inconvenient when you need them for the beach. The beach itself is great, with beautiful sand and safe water for kids. Sunbeds are free and reserved with a key, though ours weren’t locked upon arrival. Despite informing the staff, we never received a lock. However, it wasn’t a major issue since outsiders are deterred by a €20 fee for sunbeds, no consumption included. The staff on the beach never asked if we needed anything from the bar. If you go and order yourself, they’ll bring drinks to your sunbeds. The beach bar food is terrible and overpriced. We had breakfast and dinner included. Breakfast was repetitive, with only filter coffee provided; you have to pay for cappuccinos or lattes. Water and juice are available in the morning. At dinner, drinks are not included, not even water, and if you decline drinks, they remove the glasses from the table. They even objected to us having a water bottle for our 5-year-old. The bar drinks are expensive, and the staff is slow and rude. Bringing drinks from your room is advisable. Every two nights, there’s a grill night with decent food, but seafood is rare and poor quality. We also ate at their tavern, but the food was subpar and overpriced. The same goes for the main restaurant. One positive is that it’s close to Marble Beach. Overall, this is not a four-star hotel.

It is a place with catastrophically bad personnel with some stupid daily passing inside of the complex, connected with reception callings, some ***** on the gate, who is doing everything else, but not to welcome you to enter inside and spend some time as a guest there. Would never repeat it again, not to mention the multiple waitings for everything, even for a simple coffee, fresh or ice cream!!

My family won’t be coming back here. The hotel is situated in a beautiful location and that is about it. Our room was situated at the top of the hill and we were told we can make a use of golf carts around the resort however golf carts were only available at certain time eg. at 5 pm we were told that a person who operates them starts at 6.30pm so we had to walk up and down the high hill with children on multiple occasions. The kids club is rubbish, the lady who works there had no intention of getting proactive and make it fun so children were not interested in staying . The hotel had no entertainment at all. You definitely need to rent a car if you stay here because there is nothing to do within walking distance.

I recently stayed at this 4-star hotel in Greece with my family, and I must say, I was quite disappointed. While it had the potential to be a wonderful family resort, it fell far short of being top class. The first thing that struck me was the poor maintenance of the property. It seemed like they hadn't put in the effort to keep everything in good, clean condition. The real letdown, though, was the food. I was excited to try some local Greek cuisine, but the meals were incredibly tasteless and uninspiring. It's a shame because Greece is known for its delicious dishes, and I was hoping to indulge in some authentic flavors. To make matters worse, my family and I all got food poisoning during our stay. When we informed the reception about our unfortunate situation, their reaction was shocking. They seemed nonchalant and acted as if getting sick was a normal occurrence. They even mentioned that half of the resort was also sick, which is alarming in itself. However, they didn't offer any concrete actions to help or remedy the situation, leaving us feeling helpless and frustrated. On the last day someone had the audavity to steal the kids inflatable water toy. Needless to say, this experience has left a sour taste and we have no intention of returning to this hotel in the future. It's a shame because the potential is there, but the lack of care, maintenance, and proper customer service has left us with no other option but to give this place a thumbs down.

(All building and outdoor installations and equipment as well as landscaping and gardens). Hotel rooms and facilities are constantly supported based on daily checks from our housekeeping. In the event of a customer complaint, we take immediate action. We take our food and beverage facilities very seriously. We are preparing daily Greek and international recipes from freshly acquired products, and we have a long tradition of serving high quality meals. Apart from hiring qualified chefs and personnel, we have a very thorough procurement and storage process according to HACCP food safety standards. Our processes are audited by external auditors. As we can check in our records, on the last day of your stay you asked for a special serving of rice which we specially cooked for you. You also complained that your wife suffered food poisoning something we dismissed as untrue. In fact, we mentioned that there are occasional cases of viral gastroenteritis as our doctor mentioned. Food poisoning suggests negligence and is a strong accusation to make without first checking a hygiene specialist. Have you consulted a doctor? We are deeply sorry that someone has “stolen” your child’s inflatable water toy. We are also very sorry that you did not give us the chance to address your grievances during your 7 days stay or give us some feedback on your check out.
