The photo is one thing, in fact it is completely different! I booked a room with a child, they gave me the most inconvenient location, neither a golf cart nor a car goes there!! Zero service, the girls at the reception don’t even know the location of the houses! The restaurant was not working, I had to go to the city, although I paid for breakfast and dinner!! There was such a queue outside for breakfast that I had to go and quarrel, since I was with a small child!! For three nights 2000€, it’s a shame!!! The place is great, but alas, I can’t go there anymore!!

we have been coming here for 12 years, the location is heavenly, the staff is so attentive, they pay attention to every detail, everyone was wonderful, but we would like to say a huge thank you to Vasilis for his professionalism, for his help during the reservation, for the smile he greeted us with! we were also at the cafe next to the restaurant and Anna greeted us there every day, everything was amazing, thank you very much for another year we were impressed

It was a nice experience with family and friends. Quite and clean place. Only thing is you have to bring your beverages, it’s limited and expensive here.

This is our first day at the hotel, and unfortunately, our experience has already been disappointing. Since our reservation is non-refundable, we have to stay here for seven nights. I hope this review helps future guests make a more informed decision. First of all, during our very first breakfast, we found moldy bread on the buffet. I have attached a photo below. This is completely unacceptable, especially for families with children, and it immediately raised concerns about the hotel’s food quality and hygiene standards. Secondly, although the hotel advertises free Wi-Fi, there is no usable Wi-Fi signal in our room. Our room is part of the hotel property, yet we have been unable to use the internet at all. We are staying on a half-board basis, so I understand that alcoholic beverages and soft drinks are charged separately. However, I was genuinely surprised that even bottled water at dinner is not included and must be purchased. While I understand charging for other drinks, I believe that drinking water is a basic necessity and should be provided with the evening meal. Finally, the resort is built on a steep hillside, and our room is located in the upper section. We were assured that there would always be a shuttle service available, but in reality, we often have to wait a long time for it to arrive. Even more importantly, the shuttle service stops at 10:30 p.m. If you would like to enjoy a drink after dinner, you may find yourself having to walk all the way back up the steep hill because the shuttle is no longer operating. This is a significant inconvenience that guests should be aware of before booking. I sincerely hope the hotel addresses these issues, but I also believe future guests deserve to know what to expect.

Wonderful hotel for a quick getaway from London. It is located an easy taxi ride from the main town of Thasos. However, you do have to catch a taxi to Kavala and then a ferry from the town of Kavala to Thasos. Kind of fun. The Room, the grounds and the beach were all clean. I chose the hotel for the private beach- which is wonderful. The sun beds are assigned on a room tier basis - which I kind of understand. However if the hotel isn’t full I do suggest that they allow guests to change up the sun beds a bit. There seemed to be a large selection of foods in the half board option. I personally chose to go into town instead. A lovely quiet break on a lovely super sandy beach.

Hotel consists of bungalows down a steep hillside with reception, bar and restaurant at the bottom. If you have mobility issues better to avoid this hotel unless you get a bottom bungalow. The setting is beautiful amidst a pine forest with peacocks and an enclosure for dears. You get a key for your numbered beach umbrella and sunbeds which you open and lock daily. Food was decent. Service can be much better. We had a room without a working AC, so were given an upgrade lower down the hill, easier for my wife to walk. The upgrade room had no bed cover! We requested a summer quilt and were given a bed sheet; reception told us they dont have quilts; complained to manager and a quilt was provided immediately. I suspect that a lot of the staff are not well trained in hospitality. If you can accept that you will not get a 5 star service as is advertised bu TUI, then this is a good hotel.

I would only give this hotel one star because of the way we were treated. When we arrived, we paid the city tax at check-in. At the end of our stay, we checked out one day earlier than planned. After paying all the extra charges, the receptionist suddenly told us that we still had to pay the city tax, insisting that we had never paid it. Unfortunately, the hotel had not given us any receipt for the payment, nor had they registered it in their system. We asked if they could check the security camera recordings or find any other way to verify the payment. But the don’t have cameră and also claimed that the staff on duty at check-out was the same staff who had checked us in, but that was simply not true—we were checked in by a young man who wasn’t there. The whole situation was handled in an unprofessional and dishonest way. It left us with very little confidence in the hotel’s payment procedures. My advice to future guests: always ask for a receipt when you pay the city tax. Otherwise, you may be asked to pay it again at the end of your stay, and without proof of payment it becomes your word against theirs. As for the hotel itself, the restaurant was disappointing. The food selection was very limited, and the overall quality did not meet our expectations.

A dream vacation! A beautiful hotel located in a beautiful location. You're surrounded by nature everywhere. The wonderful forest, birdsong, the sound of the sea – it's simply beautiful. The mini zoo was fantastic; the deers are adorable, and the peacocks roaming freely are beautiful! Delicious food, a nice room, and friendly service. My only complaint is that the cats are a bit neglected. The town and port of Limenas are nearby and they are very pretty. You can drive around the entire island by car in a day, which I highly recommend. The island is very mountainous, but if you like active holidays like us, this will be an advantage. What did we like most? THE PEOPLE! The people of Thassos are wonderful! Everyone was so kind to us, no matter what part of the island we were in. We received an overwhelming amount of kindness that we'll never forget :) We'll definitely be back!

Lovely location but a long down hill walk avoiding traffic to reach the town for something to do. “Hotel Makryammous” is not a hotel it is a reception surrounded by scattered bungalows accessed by waiting for a golf buggy to pick you up. Food very basic and drinks pricey Service from untrained inexperienced staff. Dire lack of information like pulling teeth to find out anything. The bungalows are nice but the cleaning is not up to standard half made beds crumpled pillows, bins not emptied including toilet paper one .. not good as you are not supposed to flush paper down the loos :( I have complained to travel company whose rep was useless Oh and you have a key for your pre designated beach chairs and it is your responsibility to unlock stack and lock the chairs back up again each day I loved the Peacocks that wander around, and although the beach was untidy the sea was clear. I would not return to Thassos however

We had the most enjoyable stay and enjoyed the new bathroom amenities, welcome gift, tennis courts, spa, gym and morning Pilates with Alexandra, who was god sent. Thanks to her we started our day longer and stronger; the golden morning sun and sea view simply unbeatable. The staff were more interpersonal than two years ago. A special thank you to the restaurant manager for recognition, Eleni from the bar and Eleni from Reception for their ever lovely smiles and to Housekeeping who looked after us so well. The crew at the beach was helpful and friendly. We all wish we could have stayed longer.

We caught the last Tui flight out of Kavala after spending two weeks at Makryammos bungalows. The check in was ok, not much information given, no complementary drinks. There were one of two waiters helpful. We expected daily bottled water in our room, as there wasn't an on sight shop, we were told they didn't have time to build it this year! On our first trip into Thassos town, by taxi we bought 6 litres of bottled water for €2-50. We were in room 204, which was very nice, clean and tidy. The catering wasn't 5 star, instead of eggs fried to order at breakfast they batch cooked them and left them on a tray to congeal, although one day I actually had an egg freshly fried. The breakfast and dinner were not up to the star rating. We didn't venture very far, although we did go into Thassos town 3 times. The first by taxi, both ways,. Then we got the golf cart up to the gate and walked on the side of the road, which took us 20-25 minutes, we did however get a taxi back! We didn't see any rubbish on the beach, thought it was a good idea to have same dinners every day. I had no problem following the shade from the parasol. I wasn't keen on dogs being allowed on the beach and I don't think they should have been allowed where people were eating, even if it was in the covered area outside.

As many already have commented, this is NOT 5* experience, location is stunning, but beach is not cleaned and does not resemble the pristine photo on their website. Check in was impersonal, waited ages for our luggage to arrive at our room, so couldn't head to beach as we'd normally do. We had asked for an upgrade, but fobbed off twice. Eventually told no upgrades available until 2 days before departure date, this was not true, overheard reception offering a couple the next day a free upgrade, the same receptionist who had been surly with me, was complete opposite with this young couple. We also asked to be moved to a more accessible room, as we didn't want to rely on the golf buggy transport. We'd requested this in advance of our stay, but clearly no-one made any effort to accommodate that simple request. Just felt like they were doing us such a big favour at their inconvenience. Restaurant staff were overworked, as mentioned, hard to get a table inside to avoid wasps and inconsiderate smokers!! Can't believe in 2025 there are still no designated non/smoking areas outside. Even trying to have a coffee outside it was impossible to avoid people lighting up, really does spoil it for us. We didn't like being allocated a sun lounger, wanted to choose based on shade, wind direction, if anyone was smoking by us etc. Finally, whilst some areas have clearly had money spent on them, mid section by adult only pool was neglected and in need of some TLC. The sand was not clean across the beach, discarded children's toys clearly left behind, lots of bits of rubbish and debris, lots of plastic being washed ashore, literally ignored by staff, but being collected by not only us, but other guests. Really not good enough! No, we wouldn't recommend, no, we wouldn't return even it there weren't any wasps.
