Reviews of Hotel Holiday Thun

For the price, the room was abysmal. It wasn't clean; there were two vomit stains right outside the door that had only been wiped away, not properly cleaned from the carpet. No sign of proper housekeeping at all. When I called about parking, I was told there weren't enough spaces for everyone and that if we were lucky, we might find one, otherwise we'd have to find parking elsewhere. Later that evening, when we wanted to get some ice cream at the hotel, the kitchen was closed, yet two other groups were given ice cream menus and served at the same time. Never again! Some of the staff were very unfriendly and completely overwhelmed. Breakfast was okay, but sometimes there were no cups for coffee, etc. We've stayed in many hotels, but this was by far the worst.

To put it simply, the room isn't small, but there's no small table. It really should have a few hooks for guests to hang clothes and bags. There's no kettle in the room, but if you ask at the front desk before your stay, they'll provide one. The hotel is right next to the lake, and the bus stop for the train station and Spiez is just 10 meters away.

Neither the air conditioning nor the mini-bar made the overnight stay a tropical experience. The street-facing room was extremely noisy (windows had to be open due to the heat). The reception could use a boost in terms of its welcoming atmosphere. The breakfast staff, however, were very friendly.

I checked in late and there were no hotel staff due to post Christmas Day. However, I will expect clean bedsheets and pillow cases for us. However, the sofa bed was not prepared in advance. The bedsheets was torn, the pillows were dirty, there were no pillow covers. The blanket was stained and no cover sheets as well (see attached photo). For the price paid, it was highly disappointing. Even the chair was broken, there were no tv remote controller for me even to access the tv. The jacuzzi had much dirty particles as can be seen from the TV. The only consolation was the good breakfast provided. Can see that the kitchen staff has done a good job. I really feel terrible for such a standard in Switzerland. Worst hotel for my trips here.

Everything was exactly as we imagined it would be: location, room, breakfast, bus connections, and staff.

The hotel reception closes at 9:30 PM. Overall, the service quality is good. The room is clean and spacious.

The room was spacious and clean, and the beds were comfortable. Unfortunately, the room facing the street was very noisy. Since there was no air conditioning, we had to open the window for ventilation, and the street noise was very unpleasant. There was also no kettle, coffee, or tea in the room. Breakfast was okay, but sadly, there was no green salad. I requested the guest card at the front desk three times, but it still hadn't arrived after three days.

The hotel is a short drive from Thun Castle with convenient parking. The area is quiet and perfect for a stroll, and it's a short walk to Lake Thun.

Booked a 4-night stay but checked out after just 1 night because the service here is a absolute nightmare. The room fan was completely broken, turning the entire room into a literal sauna. To make matters worse, the front desk was permanently abandoned every single time I went down to complain. When I demanded a refund or proper compensation for cutting my trip short, they had the audacity to offer me a pathetic 20% discount for my "next stay." Who in their right mind would ever return to a hotel with zero maintenance and nonexistent customer service? Terrible management, insulting compensation. Avoid at all costs.

I've known the Holiday Inn for fifty years, but the absolute worst thing is that the restaurant, which always had great food, is now closed, and there are no vending machines for drinks, which are really needed. It's a shame for the Holiday Inn; this has nothing to do with Swiss hospitality.

Very friendly welcome at the reception. She also arranged a third bed at no extra charge, as there were three of us. The breakfast buffet was good, not extraordinary, but had something for everyone.

The hotel is very clean and spacious. You can see a beautiful sunrise over the mountain from the breakfast room. Bus stop is just across the hotel, a few stops to Thun main station, very convenient especially if you have swiss pass. The staffs are very nice and helpful. The only drawback for me is the beds that are not thick/hard enough (same with many hotels in Switzerland) but overall a very pleasant staying.

The reception was extremely helpful. The breakfast buffet was modest, and items had to be requested for replenishment, but it was done kindly.
