Lovely room and very friendly staff were the highlights, the food was really tasty too although at that price point it needs to be (£19 for fish and chips). Downside was the building works outside our room from 7-45am each morning, so no chance of actually sitting on the balcony or any sort of lie in. Would have been nice to have been advised of this. As we only stayed 2 nights we couldn’t be bothered with asking to change rooms etc, and the receptionist kindly gave us 10% off our bill at checkout. Loved the village and surrounding area, would definitely come back at a weekend (when presumably the builders aren’t there) or in a year or so when the new extension has been completed.

Fabulous food, friendly staff and a brilliant atmosphere. Really enjoyed our meal and will come again! Great menu catering for vegetarian & vegan diets with lots of choice and interesting dishes. Next time we might plan to stay overnight.

We were attracted to The Bell Inn from the website. Upon arrival we felt instantly relaxed, the whole vibe is great and welcoming. The service was very attentive, our drinks never ran dry. The food was some of the best food I have ever eaten (and I’ve been to a lot of great restaurants) super tasty ! I also loved how proud everyone is of the food they provide, rightly so. We will be returning and bringing more people to enjoy this wonderful experience.

We made a very last minute decision to surprise a family party in local Wadhurst and were thrilled to be able to find somewhere local to book for one night. Good communication with the pub as part of the booking process. Didn’t arrive until 10pm but able to park directly outside the pub entrance and have a drink in the bar before last orders. Warm and cosy, friendly staff and lively ambience. Quick and friendly checking in process overseen by Oscar who showed us to our room. Room was lovely, had everything we needed. We did stay for breakfast, and would say this was disappointingly underwhelming, which is a real shame, we just expected a little more than normal pub standard. However, accommodation excellent and staff super friendly and helpful and would definitely stay again!

Booked over a week ago for a friend’s birthday. On arrival the pub was busy, jolly and warm with the fires on. Sadly we were redirected and told our table was in the stables. Which was empty, freezing and dead in atmosphere. Christmas music was playing but it felt like a Harvester restaurant. We were told the heating was on full blast, it was cold outside, but still it was inadequate. So we tried to be jolly but- The menu is really lacking any flair or imagination. It’s typical, but very low standard pub food- pie and mash, fish and chips, chicken Kiev. Nothing on it sounded fresh or interesting. Between us we ordered a veggie stew, a Kiev and fish and chips and some starters to share that were also deep fried and out of a packet. Even the bread was pre packed and bland. I had the fish and chips, it was warm not hot, the chips were inedible soft warm and just not cooked properly. It was served with a tiny pot of tartare sauce, horrid mushy peas and another pot of something yukky I think curry sauce. My friends stew was ok but she left half of it and the Kiev, well it was just a Kiev. So it is the second time that I’ve driven miles to visit and been disappointed. The staff are young and some were sweet but they don’t know what they are doing. That’s it I won’t be coming back.

Lovely pub, very atmospheric, lovely helpful staff, but the food is dreadful and very expensive for what it is. The accommodation and bar are lovely and worth the money, it's all stylish, nicely lit and the fires are a nice touch, but the food is several levels of quality lower, despite the price.

This was our 2nd overnight stay and taster menu as we were very impressed last year. This time we stayed in one of the lodges (Pretty Vacant) and it was delightful! Walking into the lodge it felt cosy and comfortable as soon as we were in the door. Lovely and spacious, extremely clean with everything you could want, large double bed, big two seater sofa, walk in shower and bath and also a private little terrace with fire pit. We had booked to have the 5 course taster menu again this year and it was as exceptional as last year! All the lovely little quirky additions make it all the more special and the food was Beautifully cooked and was really superb! The staff were all friendly, pleasant, helpful and efficient! The only thing I would say that let it down a little was breakfast! Weak tea, ice cubes in the fresh orange (which watered it down) and streaky bacon in the full English! (Minor issues when our overall stay was brilliant) We’ll definitely be back again

Fabulous stay at The Bell! We were booked in for one night as part of a 50th birthday celebration and upon arrival we’re told they had upgraded us to one of their lodges! Amazing decor, luxurious touches and so cosy if we weren’t booked in for dinner we probably wouldn’t have left the room. Dinner at the Bell was delicious, good portions and great beers and wines on offer. After a great sleep we went back into the pub for a fabulous breakfast. Special shout out to Oscar for looking after us and all the staff at The Bell- we’ll definitely be back!
