The white elevator is very unique to this elevator. Tho it was slow but I don’t mind bec it so chic with glass door. Very unique indeed! Love it though I wasn’t able to take pic. 😒 +++ white elevator, water refilling dispenser, very spacious room & bathroom +++ location was quite away from the main action but there are 2 bus stops nearby, komtar & chowrasta are 5-10mins walk +++ they provide dental kit, small soap, nice shampoo/conditioner & body wash, mugs, electric kettle, safe, ref, ac was functioning very well, room telephone, tv but i did not use it +++ free wifi was good —- reception is not very friendly except for 1 Indian guy who promptly answers whatsapp tho he mistaken me for a guy at first 😄, the chinese receptionist hardly smiles, indian lady seemed to not know anything when you ask about tourist spots (i think hotel people should equip themselves with some knowledge on tourism. I mean there should be basic orientation by management on this. Times had changed and you need to have these extra customer service, just suggesting). —- i was in the assumption that cleaning is daily but i was told every other day but i still need to remind them about it. Entire hotel can use some improvement in the cleaning — no closet inside the room, you just have to hang your stuff —- my view was a huge wall —- soundproofing is bad, very noisy when people close doors or children running around. You hear toilet flushing from nearby rooms —- it was raining when I arrive and nobody offered an umbrella except on the second day when the janitor heard me. That was appreciated very much. It also made me realize that umbrella is a weapon for solo travellers so that made the carrying a little easier —- towels smell mushy maybe bec of rainy season —- sometimes bathroom had some drainage smells —- food choices was a little limited in area unless you walk for like 5-10mins. Overall stay was still on the good side. I had way worst stays than this. I did enjoy my solo trip to Penang and would love to go back. I plan to stay next time near the street art areas where the actions are. I would still recommend le embassy to other travellers.

Bellevue the Penang Hill Hotel

I know this hotel from the travel notes: the restaurant with the most beautiful angle of the flag mountain, so I want to live. Only 9-10 rooms, so it is quite tense, not full house on weekends. The price is not expensive, only the price of more than 300 yuan has been booked. Let me talk about the advantages: The environment is very good, the scenery is beautiful, no matter how many lights are seen at night, it is very beautiful to watch the sunrise in the morning. The service is very good, whether it is the beautiful Malay girl at the front desk or the uncle who helps us with the luggage. The next day, the breakfast should be the boss and will come and say hello. The breakfast is rich and the taste is good. The stir fry at the entrance of the hotel is very delicious. It is said that the first place in Penang is not covered. I think it is the best fried stir fry I have ever eaten (mainly like the chicken skin inside, there is a feeling of lard) In the evening and in the morning, I read the book quietly in the room, looking at the sky and the leaves outside the window. (If you can pick up a monkey or a squirrel, it’s perfect, but when you go down the mountain, you meet the monkey group.) Although there is no air conditioning, there is a fan and it is very comfortable to open the window (we are on the second floor). Let me talk about the disadvantages: We are driving, and then found that we can not drive, contact the hotel, only know that we need to pay a round trip MYR 120 (or RM 160 if not through the hotel), if not for self-driving guests, it is estimated to carry luggage Take the little train. However, the fare of 120 is not expensive, because the original flag mountain is also the ticket and the small train fee, and the mountain road is very difficult to open, not the people here, should not be able to open. The hotel on the mountain will definitely be a bit wet and buggy, and some big insects that have not been seen will be a little scary. One of the biggest drawbacks is that there are a lot of yellow spots on the toilet lid. I can't wipe it with a wet tissue. It should be a long-lasting relationship. It looks a little uncomfortable. Overall a very satisfying leisure time.

Macalister Terraces Hotel

Macalister Terraces Hotel

George Town|0.24km from city center
This is a really small hotel and that’s about it about this place. This hotel has been refurbished from some shop houses and given a modern feel, other than that there is nothing heritage about the hotel or rooms. Maybe the bedroom wardrobe with holes had a heritage feel (see photos). We booked 4 rooms for 3 nights and were assigned 3 facing the road and a room without windows. Booking: as this is a small hotel as stated by the owner, deposit requires a bank transfer and payment in cash is prefer versus credit card. Upon checkin, the owner of the hotel has the audacity to tell us, such a small amount ($144) for tourism tax, you still want to charge to a credit card. Location: 7 of the 20 rooms faces a road that has traffic noise even late into the night. The poor sound insulation of the rooms makes it susceptible to the traffic noise for rooms facing the road. This is make worst as into the quiet night, a lone vehicle zooms pass the hotel. If you are a light sleeper, avoid this hotel at all costs. Because this is a small hotel with a maximized layout, there are rooms next to the lobby toilet, and a few close to the staircase. The floors are tiled and not carpeted and noise cause by other guests movement travels. The only 2 rooms that has some form of noise insulation are rooms 19/20. Not to mention some rooms does not have windows. Security: the 3 rooms on the ground floor (room 1-3) facing the carpark is outside of the lobby and has no form of security except for 2 CCTV cameras. Basically just imagine your bedroom doors open to the carpark lots, if you have a concern for privacy n exposure avoid these rooms. This can be a concern for some. In addition, there are no night duty personnel (as stated in the notice) after midnight n anyone can access into the hotel as the front lobby door was never locked during our stay. For people driving and returning late, their car headlights will be shining into your room and the worst case may crash into your bedroom if they are highly intoxicated. Impossible is possible. I guess if you handicapped or cannot climb stairs, the carpark lot rooms will be the given choice. Maintenance: rooms are fairly maintained but some of the aging has started to show especially in the bathroom. This is less than 15yrs old hotel. Bathroom had hitec weird lighting colors… Pink, Green n White, wonder what’s the designer kinky intention. At RM300 per night excluding taxes, look for other better choices.

Hotel: I've booked a hostel in Georgetown before I found out Tune Hotel has a special rate for weekly & monthly. I cancelled the hostel & try the Tune Hotel, Jalan Burmah at RM64.30/night/queen bedroom with window, fan, aircond, toilet. Booked by phone call, not online booking. Surprisingly the size of room is enough for 2 pax, has space for solat, got hair dryer. I end up 7 nights there. Turn out that most of 2-3 stars hotels here are around RM100++/night, hostel with sharing toilets RM45++/night. Lucky me. Don't forget to pay RM2/night as intructed by the Pulau Pinang government. Self-laundry: 10 minutes walking from the hotel, I found a 24-hour self-laundry at Jalan Argyll. Laundry Hub Georgetown. It uses dobi coins. RM7 for 7 coins for 14 kg normal washing (30 minutes), RM4 for 4 coins for dryer (30 minutes). Bring your own washing net so you can put all underwears inside. I'm satisfied with the cleanliness. Halal food: For Muslims, the New Theme World food court next to the Tune Hotel is not focusing on halal food but I think rice set by Kerala Banana Leaves can satisfy our hunger for lunch. Ask for vegetarian set. I also tried Simple Cafe nearby Jalan Argyll, the halal, Malay food small restaurant. The porridge & ikan asam are quite delicious, 8/10. As if I was having home-cooked meals. But they close every weekend. For breakfast I saw a long que along one of the road. I followed the line, tried roti telur, roti canai, kari with 2 big chunky of meat. I'm not a fan of curry so I rate it as 5/10. At the end of Jalan Burmah I found a special food outlet, The Community. They sell kombucha, vegetarian pasta, puddings & other things. As the seller told me all F&B are supplied by single mothers, disabled community & poor people, I tried & have no regrets. Delicious. They have yoga class every Wednesday, 7-8 pm. Let's support domestic tourism again! Just few minutes from The Community, I noticed many people flocked into a bread small shop. Driven by curiosity, I joined the que & found out they were waiting for hot, big apple pie, pineaple pie, cheese tart, egg tart & other fresh pastries. Mind you all are in front of the cashier, other assisstants will help you to pick your pastries. I bought what others have bought. Delicious, warm, big, cheap. Location: Walking distance to everywhere. Strategic. 10 minutes walking distance from the KOMTAR. Don't left your small umbrella, water, prayer mat, telekung. Surau & masjid is everywhere. Friendly people here. Ask for help if lost.

The moment I stepped into the hotel lobby and room, I immediately felt at ease. My primary concern was there is no basement parking lot (after reading reviews in TA). But once I reached the hotel, it is not a problem bcz there is a designated space in front of the hotel for hotel resident's cars. Other than that, everything is just amazing. I was on an impromptu work/vacation trip with my sisters. The room and bathroom were big enough for the 3 of us to move around. Plenty of space. The 3 of us can even fit in front of the bathroom mirror to do our makeups. That's how spacious it is. Room is at 5th floor, no 518. We had a good sunrise view from our window, which was pleasant. The price that we paid were worth it. Service is excellent. Always friendly, with a smile and always greets you whenever they see you. We had problem with the safe in our room; couldnt open it after we locked it. It was immediately resolved after we made a call to the recep. We asked for an extra towel as there were some stains on one of the ones provided to us. They sent the new one up promptly. Impressive service. Applause to the management team! Too bad they only have one water machine at the lobby. Hope they will consider installing at every floor for convenience. Room, bathroom n beds were clean. No problem with plumbing and air con. No breakfast in this hotel but plenty of eateries nearby, within walking distance. So location is excellent. Plus it is not located in front of the main road so you can get a quiet night sleep. Will I come back to this hotel? A definite yes! I'll probably ask for higher floors next time I'm back.

The hotel is good and clean, but the service of parking security is terrible, before we check in, one of the security was playing his phone and videocalling with his friend,so he didnt even notice our car, when he finally noticed us after my husband was leaving to check in first, he knocked our car heavily, and said this is not parking area,i said ok,just a second,he is checking in,the security was rolling his eyes and said it emphasisly again, asked me to move it and i dont even have driving license here. One minutes later ,my husband was back with room card,he checked and let us just parking right there!! can not believe there are rude staff in this fancy hotel!

When I came there on a rainy day around chinese new year, the old guy at the reception shouted : ” fully booked” agressively, and then when I show him the booking on my phone from Hotels.com, he was a bit kinder, he grumbled about Hotels.com and then offered me a room without window without even offering a discount. I refuses because it wasn't what I had payed for, then he told me they had an other hotelandI could stay there but I had to wait for a guy with a car coming soon to drive me there, I waited for more than an hour then he drove me to the other side of the city to an hotel really crap (foto) and an other room wirhout window, I was really furious, I told then, then emailled them I wanted to cancel and get a full refund, they never replied. As soon I found a new hotel I contacted Hotels.com, they could not reach the hotel, they promised to do their best but 3 days later they had done nothing they even made a confusion with another hotel I had booked thru them, they send me messages every 5/6 days saying they still could not reach the hotel but they keep up trying, and then 2 weeks passed and nothing more, I asked them what was going on: They said they could not reach the hotel and in this case their politic was :no refund! And generously they offered me a 10$ credit! So on Hotels.com they can book for u a room in an hotel already fully booked, and then if the hotel do not reply at your request it can gleefully going away with the money and rent rooms that do not exist! In the normal world, in a justice suit if a party doesn't show up at the court he will lost, the absentee is always wrong, with Hotels.com it's the opposite!

The front desk service of the hotel is very good. It will speak Mandarin and Cantonese. It will tell you where the main push is in Penang. In the evening, you will put sugar on the bed. The parking space is on a first-come, first-served basis. You can buy a parking ticket. The afternoon tea is very good. Very good, a lot of food nearby

Booking with TRIP.COM is super easy peasy, there is no hidden charge. Room was as expected, worthy with the price. All facilities provided functioned well. The only concern with my booking was the type of room. I picked room with twin bed, but then I got one queen bed and the hotel did not let me know during check in. Anyway it was not a big issue since I came with my family and only for one night stay.

This is a newly opened hotel. The rooms are very comfortable and clean, very quiet, and free parking at the door. The most important thing is that the boss is very nice, very enthusiastic and speaks Chinese! The location is also top-notch, it is easy to find, and there is a big night market at the door. I'm here to travel. The cause of the epidemic will not go away for a while. I have lived here for a while and I feel very good. I highly recommend it

I can easily find location of the hotel through google maps/ waze. If you are coming from USM, its quite difficult to enter the entrance road of the hotel due to the traffic condition. I suggest that you come from the Lotus hypermarket area, so the entrance road to the hotel is easily accessible. The receptionist is helpful and polite. The hotel provided ramp and lift and wheelchair-friendly. The room is quite small and compact but complete with basic necessities. The have smart tv so i can watch netflix using my account. Wifi is easily accessible. I could finish my work online during travelling. At the ground floor nearby thay have The Coffee Bean And Tea Lead Cafe, good dor those who are adsicted to coffee. Incan walk to the Lotus Hypermarket nearby to find toiletries or food, or eat at thw dood court. Family Mart is also a walking distance. It also located near to Pelita Nasi Kandar and Subaidah Nasi Kandar.
