A tropical paradise tucked in a private beach on Tioman island. We stayed 2 nights in the Sarang tree house, was treated with absolute warm and welcoming hospitality. Perfect for couples who wanna be “stranded” on an island getaway.

Overall the resort meets expectations, but can be improved when it comes to additional offers given the steep price of the rooms.

Excellent service staff. Hotel and amenities not as expected. Food was good as well.

All rooms are wooden houses built on the same mountain, with a total of 16 rooms, very private, no children making noise. Help to clean the room 3 times a day, the room layout is very delicate, all using natural elements, the service is also very good. The Malay restaurant and the Italian restaurant are very delicious, highly recommended, much more cost-effective than Semporna. The sea water is super transparent, with all kinds of beautiful fish, and the hotel can snorkel.

Japamala is a resort that I love so much that I am afraid to write a review for fear that more people will know about it and I won't be able to book it. Distinctive style design, private beach, wooden villas (large and comfortable enough), essential oil spa, barbecue, snorkeling; great breakfast; I have to mention that the staff from top to bottom are very friendly and polite. I came here with my friends for three days and two nights, and I will bring my family back. I recommend staying for 4-6 days to really enjoy the slow life.

The hotel is on a separate beach. Only the hotel's guests can enter the entire beach. The staff are also very enthusiastic. Every time they see you, they will greet you enthusiastically. The hotel's free breakfast is very rich and delicious. It's a pity that the weather was bad and we didn't go snorkeling. But when we left, we saw a lot of fish at the hotel's pier. It was very suitable for snorkeling. The captain was also very enthusiastic. There are trees behind the hotel, and there are a lot of small ants.

The hotel is very beautiful. The room is incredible. The food at the hotel is delicious. The sea is magnificent (especially for snorkeling). Since we were staying at another hotel, a boat picked us up from the Tekaka pier. Thank you very much to the hotel. I liked everything very much.

Because it was the off-season, there were only two couples in the entire resort, so we were given an annual fee to upgrade our room to a sea view room with a great view! ! ! Due to the weather, we did not go snorkeling and only went out to sea to fish. Although we caught fish, the hotel made a mistake. The fish served for dinner was not the fish we caught ourselves! I have to say, the chef’s cooking skills are really good~

Japamala is a place that make you relax and unwind. The staff are all very cheerful and helpful. This is a quiet place and don't expect any extravaganza event. u need to plan your own activities either snorkeling, kayaking or perhaps just enjoy a peaceful moment at the beach hut. Foods is amazing here. my only observation is that this place needed some renovation/refurbishment/painting works of the property. Which I notice that they are working on it.

It was like a dream. Everything was perfect from the KL to Tioman transfer where we were lucky to have Gary drive us both ways, he was very professional and courteous to the actual resort which was everything we expected and more. All of the staff at the resort are eager to help and I would name them all here if I could but they truly make the place even more special. The food at the restaurants was both delicious and appropriately priced. Everything included with our stay like the sundowners and afternoon tea were lovely too. We stayed in the Sea Cliff Chalet because all other room categories were full and we enjoyed our view. Thanks for the lovely stay.

We cannot recommend the Japamala Resort highly enough. The resort is beautifully designed and offers a real sense of retreat and calm. But what really makes the place stand out are the people who work there. Every member of the staff was so kind and helpful and would happily talk and discuss how to make the most out of your day (we would like to particularly thank Kenneth and Mike). We appreciated the small complimentary services such as daily laundry, tea time, happy hour, snorkelling gear, kayaks, night cap (Marks favourite) and the attention to detail in the room. The chalets are set gently into the stunning jungle backdrop of Tioman island giving captivating views over the turquoise ocean. The beautiful sunset views, whilst laying on the bed tables on the jetty makes you truly believe you are in paradise. Looking straight down beneath the tables you can see an amazing array of sealife, including small black tip reef sharks. The complimentary island hopping with snorkelling was fantastic, with excellent enthusiastic guides. The staff also organised for us to do scuba diving and visit the local waterfall, meaning all we needed to do was to enjoy the incredible experience. Thank you for a wonderful holiday!
