LANG HOTEL Ueno

I stayed in a double room for two nights and had a good experience. Everything was great – the cleanliness, location, and spaciousness. My only minor complaints are that there was no window and the lighting was too dim. It felt like the room was only suitable for sleeping. It was frustrating trying to get ready in the morning or do my makeup because it was so dark. I'm not sure why it was designed this way. On the positive side, it was very quiet, which I liked. Ueno station and the bustling area are just a 5-10 minute walk away. The best part, though, was the hotel manager. They were incredibly friendly and didn't seem Japanese, spoke English well, and even used a translation app to communicate with me in Korean. That was truly excellent!

The location in Ueno is super convenient; it's only a 5-minute walk to Ameyoko and less than 15 minutes to the Ueno Skyliner station. For Ueno, the room is incredibly spacious. We had four large suitcases open with plenty of room to spare. It even has a washing machine and cooking facilities! The only downside is that the pillows are quite thin, and you can't get extra padding, so it wasn't the most comfortable sleep.

The room was beautiful and I loved the decor. It was spacious enough, and having a washing machine and microwave meant we could cook. I also liked the tatami area. However, the bathroom seemed like an illegal add-on; you could see it was built on a raised platform, and there was a constant, incredibly strong sewage smell coming from it. The drainage system was clearly poorly done, making me feel nauseous every time I used the toilet. Room 01 can accommodate 6 people. The location is between Ueno and Okachimachi stations, about a ten-minute walk. This walk felt like torture when it was very hot or cold, or when we were exhausted from sightseeing and carrying a lot of stuff. It's neither particularly far nor particularly close. For a 4-person room at around 23xx, it's not exactly cheap.

Highly recommend this place, it's really close to Ueno Station. There are also plenty of food options and drugstores nearby. It's super convenient for getting to Akihabara, Asakusa, Shibuya, or central Tokyo without needing to transfer. It's just a 5-7 minute walk back to the hotel from the JR station (I personally don't like walking too far). For the return trip to Narita Airport, you can walk about 10 minutes to catch your train. (I highly recommend choosing this location for your last night!!) I'd definitely stay here again.

The hotel proactively asked for our estimated arrival time. Although the front desk was unattended when we arrived, there was a phone and a messaging app account available for immediate contact. The service lady was very kind and explained everything in detail. She also helped us with calling a taxi ❤️. There was also a clear information sheet on the table in the room. We were a group of three, and the space was very comfortable, equipped with a microwave, a small kitchen, and a washing machine. Just be careful when using the rocking chair in the living room to avoid losing your balance. The dining area was a bit dimly lit, but otherwise, everything was great 👍

The hotel's location is pretty good! It's close to the subway station, and Ueno Park is also nearby, just a ten-minute walk. The room we rented was quite spacious and comfortable for Tokyo standards, but it was strange that the bathroom floor was elevated, which felt quite dangerous at night!
