Hotel Villa Fontaine Tokyo-Kudanshita

This hotel seems to be very popular. I arrived around 3 PM and had to wait in line for about half an hour to check in, but they offered complimentary drinks and coffee in the lobby, which was a thoughtful touch. The double room was a bit more spacious compared to other chain hotels. They also offer free luggage storage, which is very convenient.

I booked this hotel to go to a concert at Tokyo Dome. The location is excellent, within walking distance of the Dome. It's also pretty much a 10-minute walk to the subway station. There's a small coffee shop within 100m of the hotel's main entrance, and their coffee is absolutely delicious! I went every morning; the owner roasts their own beans. I even bought some beans to take home when I left. As a coffee lover, I actually liked the coffee shop more than the hotel itself. Now for the downsides: I've never stayed in a room this small in Tokyo. In the twin room, you could barely open a single 24-inch suitcase... My friend and I ended up pushing the beds together just to get them open. The foot of the bed was practically against the TV wall; to get to the other side, you had to squeeze past sideways. I know Japanese hotels are compact, but this room still shocked me... especially since I paid over 1000 yen per night including breakfast.

I booked a stay this time but didn't get a chance to go. I've stayed before and was very satisfied.

The location is good, with a university nearby. It's about a three to five-minute walk from Jimbocho Station's A2 exit. The hotel entrance is on a corner, and there's a 7-Eleven right across the street, which is super convenient. Check-out is at 11 AM. I booked a king-size bed, which was very large, though the hallways, as is common in Japan, are quite narrow. A 28-inch suitcase can be opened if laid sideways. The lobby has a lounge area with water and coffee, as well as disposable towels. Upon check-in, you receive pajamas, free drip coffee, and toiletries. If you're staying multiple nights and need housekeeping, you must notify the front desk before 10 AM. Even if you're a minute late, they won't clean your room, at most they'll just empty the trash bin. The room was very clean, and overall, I'm very satisfied.
